What’s the Enola Holmes movie about?
Enola Holmes (Millie Bobby Brown) is the younger sister of the famous detective Sherlock (Henry Cavill). She was raised by her mother Eudoria (Helena Bonham Carter) who not only encouraged her to be a strong independent woman, but also taught her a large variety of skills from chess to martial arts. When Enola wakes up on her sixteenth birthday, she discovers that her mother has disappeared, leaving behind some birthday gifts. One week later, Enola meets her brothers, Mycroft (Sam Claflin) and Sherlock, who she hasn't seen in years. If Sherlock appreciates her intelligence, Mycroft finds her troublesome and decides, as her legal guardian, to send her to a finishing school with the goal of teaching her good manners. However, Enola manages to escape by following clues that her mother hid in her birthday gifts. On a train, she meets Viscount Tewkesbury (Louis Partridge) hidden in a bag. Even if she dislikes the young lord at first, she protects him against Linthorn (Burn Gorman), a mysterious man who wants to kill him. The two teens jump off the train and go to London together, before parting ways. As she keeps following her mother’s clues, Enola meets Linthorn again. He attacks and tortures her to know Tewkesbury’s position. After she manages to escape, Enola decides to find Tewkesbury before he gets in serious trouble.

When this first aired all I could think was ... Is that is private or public carriage? Does she have any right to throw him out? He was there before her so would seem to have the prior claim, so how much of a bitch is she being? It's a very entitled attitude to order someone about on public transport especially when we are supposed to be routing for her. He by contrast greets her politely, explains his odd entrance, offers his hand, and finds her disguise paper-thin and suspicious. So far Tewkesbury is winning for sense and common decency.

@@ccccl8380 This is Tewkesbury we're talking about, who doesn't have to worry about money. He like had both has a ticket AND bribed the porter. He bribed the porter to help hide him NOT to skip out on the fare, which he can afford. It is a lot easier bribing the porter (guy who helps people carry things) into hiding him in the luggage section if he also has a ticket. As for Tewkesbury being hunted, that is an excellent reason for Enola to leave (which she eventually does) and go else where f she doesn't want to be seen with him and NOT to kick him out of the compartment.
There is other aspects of characterization to consider. At this point in the film, we have already established the Enola knows very very little about the social norms in her world. It is one thing to live in a society where it is customary to wear gloves and a hat outside and choose not to wear them, but Enola has no idea this is even a thing in her own society ... which is actually sort of horrible. Euphoria is actually a horrid mother. Contrast the March girls who KNOW what silk and corsets and other trapping of society are ... but also know that their mother objects to many of them, so can chose to follow their mother or the current society. Enola isn't being bold or anti-fashion or anti-aristocratic or independent when she doesn't wear certain clothe or address Tewkesbury properly, she has no idea that she is supposed to. This is NOT a charter I trust to know how to treat someone on a train, so everything we know about Enola and Tewkesbury tells us that the one in the wrong is probably Enola.
The truth is Mycroft might be RIGHT about the finishing school. Enola does need and deserve to be educated in the ways of her society and class, she may them chose to embrace these norms or ignore them, but she has to know about them to make an informed choice. Mycroft's way is actually BETTER then her mom, because her choices are not being forced due to the ignorance deliberately inflicted on her my her mother. (seriously, I thinks I could write a whole essay one the horrible supposed feminism on display in these films, not only do they confuse ignorance for nonconformity, the movies at times embraces "not like the other girls"-dom to a scary degree.

@@maggiemakgill I do not agree with your radicalism nor Mycroft's one but I find your opinion quite relevant nonetheless
