Full 3D gameply and alalogue controls and in the early 1990s when I started playing these arcade machines they were ignored. I could not believe the experience the first time I sat inside a Star Wars Cabinet arcade and heard "Red Five standing by" as I entered the coin (singular - ONE COIN!). Vector graphics were so ignored in the era before polygonal games, there was a place for them: no sprite based Star Wars game could have done what the original did.
IMO Arcade1Up did a good job with their cab. It’s the closest I will get to owning the real arcade game. I played this in the arcade originally, I then owned it on my Atari 5200. 10yrs later I had it via mame on my PC. Now finally I have the Arcade1Up cab. Thx for the vid. It’s cool that you show that the original Star Wars cab could switch back and forth between ESB. I thought it was one or the other.
Epic, thanks for sharing this. Brings back memories of the old Family Fun Center arcade in Omaha, Nebraska. Three floors of arcade cabinets. I still remember where the Star Wars cabinet was.
Your concerns over the yoke are very valid, as their past machines have had quality control issues for sure. I don't see a problem with this, as I'm sure that's where the extra $50 is going(retail is $350 I believe), and anything less than perfection ain't gonna fly for this. There are just to many fans of the original machine, and SW fans in general for them to offer a yoke less than great. This will probably also be their best selling game to date if done properly, so if they do happen to screw this up, it would probably kill any future business for themselves.
Hi Gamester 81 good morning to you!!!! What a great video of you showing arcade games!!!!! This is so cool!!!!! I love it!!!! Thanks for posting this video!!!!!
The Original is my all time favorite game and though I've worked on a few over the years I've never been able to own one so the Arcade1Up is a must for me. That said I play it as often as possible and even completely owned the Leader Board on the Cockpit One at Starfighters last time I was there.
@@Gamester81 Thanks for the vid. It brought back serious nostalgia from an arcade in Houston called Supertrack. It looks like amazingly this 3d marvel of a game still holds up.
That looks excellent John! I have never played the Star Wars arcade cab. From what I have seen, you have a very nice game room and arcade setup. Very nice!
I have 2 starwars arcade’s i’ve been slowly putting back together right now, and agree i highly doubt that the arcade 1-up version will compare, but your starwars looks killer, i cant wait to get mine going! Great vid!
Hi Dave is it, I really loved every single second of this video, boy did that bring back some amazing memories. You obviously played this game a lot and are waaaay better than me at it, but I love it all the more. You're sooooooo freaking lucky to have this cab and the other duck tales? Cab. I'm well jell of you lol . Fantastic video man. 😎👍👍👍
Arcade 1up community is strong. If the yok sucks someone will improve upon it and will release an upgrade For sure... Glens spinner for Asteroids is arcade quality.
I picked up the Arcade 1Up recently and I love it. I must've put the GDP of several small nations, one quarter at a time, into this machine when I was a kid!
Very cool! I've never had the opportunity to play a non-emulated vector game, but even from your video I can tell the colors seem much more vibrant! Hope they do a good job on the replica and being a Trekkie, I hope they put out the Star Trek one, too!
I just started showing my 7 year old the Star Wars movies. They are timeless. As soon as the music starts at the beginning his eyes got so wide and he ran foward so he could read the scrolling text. He was literally cheering during certain parts. (His favorite character is Han Solo )
Everyone should get a arcade 1up right john star wars is my favorite game of all time right john hey john your the best hard working man in the world and keep up the good work ☺your awesome John
How did you mod the monitor for HV protection? The roller controller for 1up wasn't geared specifically for Asteroids since the original used (only) buttons. It seemed too sticky for Tempest tho.
That’s a beautiful cabinet! I just bought the Arcade1up version. Fingers crossed that the controls are decent. I would love to have the original but people are asking insane amounts for them.
I've only played the emulated version on the Gamecube and I can tell, vector graphics not to be mentioned, that it doesn't have anything on the cabinet control wise. Part of the reason why I am personally getting into arcade games themselves, as stuff like this (and racing games, many more examples for that matter) just isn't replicated on computer or console. Plus damn, you make hard look easy!
I really want that cockpit molding for the A1U Star Wars. Glens Retro Show is designing a yoke for the A1U cabinet. His products are really great quality. I'll definitely buy one if the stock yoke sucks.
I am very curious about the new Arcade1Up cabinet, but it will never beat playing Star Wars in the cockpit cabinet. Also, that Empire Strikes Back game looks awesome.
Seeing this make me hook up my Wii to play the Gamecube Rebel Strike game... Those arcade games are about the only good thing on that disk. Such a shame because Rogue Leader is still amazing.
yep it reads on the death star surface THE FORCE BE WITH YOU @ 04:41 and 06:02 (you can see it clearly on the arcade1up machine perhaps becuase it runs slightly slower?)
Hey man, not sure if you're interested. But i made a final video for ashenclone. Thought i'd let you know if you remembered the name! I'm not sure if he'll ever come back, but who knows, he made great videos.
Atari sucks in making games I only like 2 games they made centipede and millipede Atari was my first system I owned it sucked very bad the Nintendo 8 bit system was way much better and the arcade games made by Nintendo beats the Atari games in the arcade and now Nintendo switch is the best system Nintendo ever made where is the best Atari system Atari ever made what’s the main games only for Atari such like Mario for Nintendo sonic for Sega gears of war for Xbox the Star Wars I see today on Xbox one plays way much better then the arcade Star Wars its all thanks to EA
Ok is that an original from 1983? Recently I found out that the numbers i saw on the console for asw arcade referred to the star wars arcade game released by segas, cheat codes. The number 05164837 is significant in the context of the "Star Wars" arcade game released by Sega. It is a secret code that players can enter to access a hidden features menu in the game. This code is part of the game's lore and is known among enthusiasts and players who seek to unlock additional content or settings in the arcade machine. That's an impressive game from it's time. Cool to see what 1980's tech could achieve.
Yeah, I agree.
@@Gamester81 The graphics are really bad as expected. Not that any of the other cabinets from this era was any better.
@@Gamester81 I have one arcade1up as a decorative piece. I wouldn't get anymore myself. After several plays it gets old to play
This is some next lvl collecting ... real arcade machines.
Duck Tales arcade machine.. that's cool !
I never played the Star Wars arcade machine.
I love the look of games like that. Its like playing in a old neon bar sign.
That's a good way of explaining it. :D

I have my Arcade 1up Star Wars cabinet on preorder already, can't wait to receive it in October!! 🎉🕹
You have all the best "toys", John!
You'd never get bored chillin' at your pad!
Thanks.

Man I wonder how much money I put into that thing! Cool to see the screen again. Takes me back to 1983. My first year out on my own. Crazy.
Played this as a kid and while I was never a huge fan of Star Wars, I loved the arcade game. I will have to get this one......
Man i love your videos, your in the pinnacle of this comunity
That means a lot, thanks.
This is incredibly cool. Thanks for sharing. I have never seen the Empire Strikes Back mod. It looks like a lot of fun!

If I remember correctly this same game had a sit down model which quite possibly is the greatest cab of all time. Very nice.
Correct last year I was able to play the sit down version at a Fun Spot
Yep, the sit down one is amazing.

I LOVE THAT GAME - I LIKE SIT DOWN ONE THE BEST!
bigpopparand1 I also like sit down
Yeah 100% agree, the sit down one is awesome!
Outstanding arcade cab!
I used to play this in the arcades back in the day and loved it. It's awesome that you actually own one great find👍
You and Zaranyzerakasaasas just keep on going. Making youtube history with history! Hope your well. Keep it up till the wheels fall off ❤
That's incredible for 1980 holds up well even today
Totally agree.
Great game & gameplay. Fond memories. I loved the accurate movie sound bites. I didn’t realize the other sound effects were very Atari / Nintendo-ish.
Thanks for sharing this look at such an incredible arcade game. I'm looking forward to Arcade 1up's version of this game. :)

Had that arcade for two years and passed along to another gamer
Such a beautiful machine! Very good point with how will it look emulating vector graphics!
This game looks like a lot of fun! I’m hoping the arcade1up version isn’t a piece of junk or over priced 😆
You always do a great job with your videos! Way to go, and thanks for the info on this .
Actually just got a pristine SW arcade and debating whether to upgrade to the mod (Leaning towards doing it). Is your monitor an Amplifone?

Thanks Jeffman!
John, love the shirt. I think u level up on every video u put out. Great job and looking forward to playing ur game!

Great stuff! I didn't know there was a Ducktales cabinet.
i havent seen that arcade in over 30 years. i remember playing it as a young kid

Yeah, unfortunately UA-cam analytics have really changed. All good though...thanks for checking in.

I pre-ordered the Arcade 1up version! I can't wait to play it!
I remember playing the sit down one. They probably converted some older tank game not sure of the name
bullitt3839 Battlezone?
