As a Google Germany SWE, i can confirm all these points. Students shouldn't follow people like KK. It would destroy your career. And i say this as a Tier 3 student myself. I studied from BIT Patna and got my job off-campus. This is KK in a nutshell. Can't get into IIT -> IIT is overrated Can't get good at CP -> CP is overrated Can't get into FAANG -> FAANG is overrated If the phrase "Angoor khatte hai" needs a face it's KK.

I think starting with open source in first year is much better, maybe you can even get accepted into gsoc by 2nd year, afterall solving issuesand features for organisations is a software engineer's entire life so it'd be more insightful, people do DSA only for job interviews so it can be done a little on the side and more during the end of college before applying for jobs

I failed jee two times with 4 lakh rank And my parents aren't financially capable to take admission in any private college either So I have decided to do bsc in computer science in our state University where there is zero placement ....... Am I on a right path to become a software engineer ... Because many influencers says that digree and College Doesn't matter to become a software engineer ?????
Bro Btech is preferred but if it is not possible then you can go with BCA/BSc and then MCA. But choose a college with no compulsory attendance and focus on DSA and your development skills

My advice : People who are from mech, elect or any other branch follow these Indian youtubers. While people who are in CS and got a good logical skills follow kunal,harkit and other foriegn youtubers. Even this conversation is happening because some stubborn guy on youtube came forward and said "there is more beyong faang... And if you want to learn then you can learn anything for free...". Even I also got a clear understanding of Open source just because of Kunal.
I'm not anyone's fan or blind follower. But I will say one thing for sure that this conversation is happening because of KK stressing on Open Source and Remote Jobs. Definitely it's not easy to land Remote Jobs but atleast he took the time and spoke about it!
We are fully hope that you will teach the required skills and it is another great things that you did not promise that anyone get the job after your course. It is really a create thing to avoid the false promises so at the end we need the required skills during the course

I am first year student, is it possible to get a good job in 4 years as a Blockchain developer instead of full stack web developer I don't know 1)comparative time, skills, work require to get into both field 2) high quality full stack web developement course and guides is easily available than blockchain 3) I don't know anything accept that blockchain developers skill are more valued than full stack developers skill

Great insights here however regarding documentation issues , I am myself a complete beginner learning React and I look for documentation issue cause that's way how'll get familiar with codebase . Did started slowly with readme docs and now currently contributing to solve an actual bug!. As a beginner it's completely fine to start with docs issue while upskilling yourself!

You should do whatever motivates you and takes you forward, like Manlinga and Zaheer khan has very different bowling style but both are really good at taking wickets and winning matches same goes for open source and DSA as long as you are able to deliver good product or solution there is nothing wrong in either.

Now there are different ways to practice DSA mentioning 2 of the most widely used - 1. Start working on projects by collaborating in open source where you can learn good software engineering practices while practicing DSA implementations. 2. Start doing competitive coding where you can also practice DSA implementations by solving different problem statements and also get information on solving it using different approaches from the community.

There are different roles in software engineering like software architects, product owner, SDET, SDE/SWE, SRE, devOps to take care of different responsibilities in SDLC to build and maintain your product. Being a SDE/SWE your primary task would be to work on business logic layer and it's interconnecting layers which requires good DSA and tech stack knowledge. In my opinion for every role they have their important skill sets and every role is equally important in product development.

Can u give some dos and donts about how to practice dsa and actually getting skilled while learning devlopement . Because most of what i feel like i ve been dojng is watching tutorials or watching playlist of questions being solved but i also try to enhance the projects feature wise and solve a lot of questions myself its really unclear what would qualify as mugging up and what would qualify as acutal honest skill devlopement coz i have to initally obviously learn the basics of something from some tutorials im guessing
