Ah your comment about braids, I like it 😳✋🏽 Like, I'm a black African and when I first came on stan twt for example it was such a big deal 🙆🏽 I couldn't understand why people made such a fuss about this 🙆🏽 I like seeing people learn about our culture and sometimes wears some of our clothes and other things... I think about it as cultural appreciation, it's fine for me as long as they don't say "braids were in fact invented by white people" 😬

I would have to say that this is my favorite title track of theirs so far because of it being rap oriented. As always, I like hearing your observations about Treasure. I liked what you said about Hyunsuk's style evolving because it's true that you can see the growth in his skills & how he shares them.

@@brytnihammerify but the dreads in this context are being used because this is a hiphop genre. yge artist use braids/dreads whenever they do this genre. that hairstyle might have been used by ancient asians but this isnt the context. they're using dreads as an aesthetic when black people can't even show up to a job interview with the cause theyre not considered "professional and clean". they have the right to feel hurt so I hope you won't go invalidate their feelings by saying stuff like that

just getting to you now on this reaction on Kpop and the topic of dreds, braids, etc... and I've seen differing opinions. I can see your point as well as theirs. After watching the rapper from Treasure box and past footage from trainee days; he absolutely loves and breathes hip hop and rap: also most of the time kpop rookies do not have a say in what they wear. I loved your reaction as well- I think you highlight the controversy well in that many differing opinions exist and I really appreciate your input. It's something Asian cultures should be made aware of and why; even though its not something that many will understand. It will take time for that to change with continual dialogue and communication.
I love your reaction and how you give opinion about the braid. It is not cultural appropriation but a cultural appreciation for me. YG was known as very inspired from Black as you can here the style of their music. Even their choreographer was black.

2:46 wasnt Haruto, that was Junghwan. It sounded like Haruto but it wasnt him. He was the first rapper of the video. Haruto has a super deep voice. Hes very easy to distinguish. Also 6:05 was Jeongwoo not Mashiho. Mashiho was at 5:02

Except black people aren't respected. Hip Hop is the most popular genre in America, and what does that do for us? We're still experiencing police brutality, black stereotypes are still used in casual conversation (on the news even), etc. etc. The list of grievances is looong, and a few Kpop artists borrowing our culture when its time for a hip hop concept is hardly ever cultural appreciation, especially since many of these Kpop artists openly mock dark skintones and participate in blackface.

Glad you brought up hyunsuk's hair. There seems to be a huge drive against cultural appropriation in kpop at the moment and I feel its led largely by international fans that don't seem to understand the difference between cultural appropriation and cultural appreciation.

They've started hip hop in Korea which is influenced by black people, they've worked with will smith,will I am,paris gobbel..their live band is mostly black people and yg stans know their long time live band staff named justin who've worked with yg eversince Bigbang and 2ne1 era. 1tym in which teddy park was a part of pioneered hiphop wearing dreads and braids in the late 90's and early 2000's. BIGBANG and almost all their ARTISTs wore braids.. that's not cultural appropriation.. that's cultural appreciation..yg appreciates black culture. That's the tea.

Can you please make a video that explains that you don’t speak for Black people. These idols are not pulling inspiration from any of these sources people claim they are. They’re pulling inspiration from Black culture and hip hop. Non-Black Kpop fans try to speak over Black people all the time when it comes to cultural appropriation and at a time like this it is irresponsible for you to frame your statement as if all Black people think like you.
Cultural appropriation is a form of erasure and disenfranchisement because there are so many people who don’t even realize that Black people contribute things to culture and society. They still refuse to credit Black people who the images they pull inspiration from. This dehumanizes and when we are dehumanized then things like us being killed on the streets loses importance more and more.
People can say I’m being dramatic but that’s what happens all the time. They say Black people are cultureless and that we don’t contribute things that make us functional members of society.
You can say that you enjoy the video and that you don’t care but I just want to let you know that non-Black people are clipping your video and making it seem like this is excusable and that if Black people are upset then they’re overdramatic.
