- Shaft - Music from the Soundtrack, composed and performed by Isaac Hayes. Of the many wonderful blaxpoitation soundtracks to emerge during the early '70s, Shaft certainly deserves mention as not only one of the most lasting but also one of the most successful. Isaac Hayes was undoubtedly one of the era's most accomplished soul artists, and with 'Theme from Shaft,' he delivered an anthem just as ambitious and revered as the film itself, a song that has only grown more treasured over the years, after having been an enormously popular hit at the time of its release. Shaft still remains a powerful record; one of Hayes' pinnacle moments for sure.

If ever a piece of music was too short, this is it.
A truly amazing track.
It has everything you need.
IMO This is still one of the best soundtracks of all time
100% agreed..The Shaft soundtrack is the best of all time.
Not even argueable. Made the movie.
100%
You're not the only one with that opinion.
All the tensions of the moment in this short piece of music . Brilliant .
Black Moses, black genus! All the class of Ellington, the insight of Winton Marcellus but to stop there doesn't scratch the surface. Isaac sang the carpenter's at the Grammies, mind blowing, the women swooned the fellas filled with envy. Don't stop there, Black Moses played side kick to the handsome James Garner of the Rockford files, stop?! Oh no, chef on South park! The music, the music is album is genus of a level equal to Ravel, Bach. Isaac my smoking hot Black brother, Black Moses parted the curtain the wizard said don't look behind because he's a bad mother... I'm talking about genius. Thank you brother Isaac.
Alvin Williams Nuff said !
Listening while cruising thru my city. Doesn't get much better than this. Share the love.
straight-up jazz!
Heavy Hitter Right Here.
Me trying to sneak into the kitchen at 3 am:
Perfect.
This us one of the best albums of all time. One of the first black artists to win album of the year and grim a motion picture shaft.
That little guitar grace note thingy - I loved it to death back in the summer of '72. LOL, you can tell its pre digital age 'cause it doesn't repeat perfectly. Now THATS music. Today, it would probably be annoyingly tied to a rhythm track and just looped.
Damn right. As a kid, I obsessively listened for those tiny differences in repeated elements. In my innocence, I thought every minute variation was deliberately and carefully chosen and virtuosically deployed, part of the genius I was imbibing. They meant something. It was a code I had to decipher.
Sometimes I still feel maybe I was right.
@@josefkay5013 Yeah, if its imperfect, it contains information beyond that of a simple repeating pattern, so maybe you are right. Think of morse code, maybe - with subtle variations in the signal that most people would not be able to decipher a meaning from unless they are trained.
Drank A Yac - DJ SQUEEKY......Way before Tripe 6 Mafia used it on Koopsta Knicca's Album

...Walking from the matrix 😎
She couldn’t handle the whole shaft
You hear one song, and you basically heard them all.. same, same, same.. some of the songs sound like an "Orchestra-band" warming up, as opposed to playing.
Have you tried Lawrence Welk and his polka hits? You might like it.
It's wild what people consider great music.. this sucks even for 1970s crap... crank up the Sknard, crank up the Pink Floyd, screw this crap
I would say something, but I won't
Which movie has a Skynyrd soundtrack?
You sound like a fucking dork. If a grown ass man can’t simultaneously appreciate Pink Floyd AND ISAAC HAYES (who is without question one of the most important musicians to ever live) then you’re simply dense
Stop trolling loser.
Go listen to pop music you idiot 🙄
Careful mr. Hayes... If the rappers hear that intro, they gon wanna sample it!! Great tune!!
