Ahh Catherine, I was at the Irish Centre Liverpool last night. They had a tree to leave a few words on for those no longer with us. I left a message and shed a tear. Thinking of you and all those missing someone this Christmas x
That sounds like such a lovely thing to do on the tree. Thank you for sharing and for thinking of me - sending love your way this Christmas. ❤️
Catherine, your ivy garland looked beautiful. I used to use foraged bits from my garden for Christmas garlands etc. I used to dress the window too when I had a pelmet. I moved house and left my beautiful garden behind so nothing to forage in my new garden. Well not yet. I too love bars of soap especially when the packaging is so beautiful on some. I just display them. I understand your dilemma with your pussycats. You forgive anything when you love them. Christmas is hard when it feels like there's an empty place in your heart where a loved one lived. Especially the first one. It just feels empty but they haven't gone from your heart at all and never will. Thank you Catherine.

Your comment is absolutely lovely, the entire thing, WildWolf.
This really warmed my heart!! 🎀
How lovely ❤
Oh! That is very beautiful and a different idea. I love it. Thanks for sharing your living room.😊❤
Oh Catherine I'm so sorry for your family's loss. Your Christmas decorations are so pretty I love how you decorate your home. Love your new bedroom you did.
Fabulous job on the mantle garland. Your Mom will always be with you in your heart ❤️ and I am sure she would want you and your family to continue to enjoy everything life has to offer.
The first Christmas is the worse but it does get easier. Your mam will always be with you in your heart and memories,
I love watching Rosie Henshaw she's so down to earth and funny
Sending hugs from the UK
The garland and fireplace looks so warm and inviting! We've had tree issues with our cats too. At one time, we had 10! Now we're down to 4. I've been buying everything plastic, so if it's knocked down, no great loss. They think we put them up just for them, lol! I have some of the most adorable pictures of them in the tree, over the years! Christmas is not easy for a lot of us, do to many issues, but if you know someone who is going through a tough time, call then, maybe pop by with a small gift, and a coffee/tea. That may be all the contact they have during Christmas. Take care all!
Put up the tree....it's part of the Joy of Cats!! As a child we had 6 kittens and while my dad grumbled we all loved the hysterics!! My mom passed on December 20 2022 and while each Christmas since has been different with out her and my dad (who passed in Oct 7 2020), but remembering the times together and giving myself space to feel all the feels makes a world of difference, You do you what ever shape that comes in. God Bless
I'm so sorry for your losses. I love that you can find joy in the memories with your parents and the fun chaos of kittens around Christmas. You're absolutely right-allowing yourself space to feel and do what feels right is so important, especially during the holidays. Thank you for sharing that, and I’m sending you warm thoughts as you navigate this season. Take care and God bless! 💖🎄
Beautiful decoration. So natural. Like it very much.❤🎄❄️🙋♀️
Your mantle and fireplace look absolutely beautiful ❤
Beautiful garland Catherine love using what I forage in the woods for Christmas decor. Take to the outdoors in the run up to Christmas! The woods the hills and especially the beach. Stay away from town shops and all that madness. This is how I cope with the loss of loved ones at this time of year. I walked the beach this morning, my mam was with me in my head and heart for most of my journey. I feel so much better this evening. Take care.❤
Such a lovely practical natural display. Really impressed.
You did a great job with your fireplace mantle…I pray you have a peaceful and blessed Christmas…
Wreath swag is just beautiful, great idea for a wedding on a budget!
Hello Catherine. Your DIY garland is beautiful. You're very creative.
My Father and brother and cousin all passed this year. I feel moving thru the Christmas season, and make it about Jesus, He will help you heal and get thru this time. I try to remember the good times of Christmas past. And make a toast to all them. Love, hugs, and kisses sweet heart ❤
I’m so sorry for your loss. It’s such a heavy time when you’ve lost so many loved ones. I love your approach of focusing on the good memories and making a toast to them - that sounds like a beautiful way to honour them. Wishing you love, peace, and healing this Christmas. 💖
My condolences to you and your family!🙏🏾
Your fireplace looks amazing, mystical and magical. I am sure your mum would want you to do what you feel able to do this Christmas Catherine. It takes time to heal from a great loss. ❤x😘
Your mantel display is so you!! That's gorgeous and I love that you created from your own garland. Class ❤
Thanks Davina!! ❤️🎄
@@DaintyDiaries You're welcome 😊❤️
The garland is beautiful Catherine. Thinking of you and all of our missing loved ones. Wishing you a peaceful Christmas.❤❤
The garland is beautiful. Sending peaceful thoughts. This is indeed a difficult time of year for so many of us ❤
Sending hugs your way with a prayer for comfort during this first Christmas.
Beautiful garland, Catherine. I know what you mean about seeing things differently through a lens! I do the same with outfits. They always look different compared to looking in the mirror! So strange but it works!
Mantle looks beautiful, maybe stick with that this year. ♥
Sending you lots of love. You are kind and wise beyond your years. Hope you'll be given space to follow your own advice and be kind to yourself during the festivities x
Put some fairy lights and a few baubles onto your wreath and forget the tree. That's what I do with my cats. Big Hugs for you. It really is tough not having a parent you normally spend time with at christmas not there anymore. I'm 10 years and counting and still feel miss mine a lot every year x
That’s a great idea - fairy lights and baubles sound perfect, especially with cats around! Big hugs back to you. It really is tough, isn’t it? Ten years on and still feeling that love says so much. ❤ Thinking of you this Christmas. x
Thank you for all the beautiful content and loving advice through the year Catherine 💕 it is always such a joy to watch you and I feel so blessed and grateful when I’ve watched one of your videos.. I’m sure it hasn’t been easy for you this year, so thank you x
That is just beautiful your mother would have just loved that. She is smiling down and knows you are ok and working through it all. Beautiful happy holidays to you and your family.
Also, love the mantel. Think it's my favorite one you've done.😊
Hi Catharine, your mantle is lovely! Your whole home is inspiring. And remember, there is no time line for grief. Sending you comforting hugs. XO
Aww Catherine, it’s so hard losing loved ones! I truly feel your pain. I just lost my sister last week, she was my person, my best friend! I feel so lost! 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
The fireplace looks great 😊❤️
Love love that mantel this year ! Woodland theme is marvelous ❤ just skip the tree this year. They will settle down in a years time.
Thank you so much! I’m so glad you love the woodland theme. ❤ Skipping the tree might be the way to go this year - keeping it simple feels just right. 😊🎄
Losing someone is so hard but at this time of year more so. We lost my dad two years ago October and haven't been able to celebrate Christmas in the same way. Time will help but I completely understand how you're feeling. It's strange, me and my mam were only talking today about how this year we feel like we can celebrate Christmas. I do hope you and your family are able to make some special memories. Your fireplace turned out lovely. Love your channel ❤
The holidays are so hard after losing a family member. Take it easy on yourself and do what brings you comfort. Prayers from the US for you and your family.
Catherine you are such a joy to watch and what a lovely message at the end. Follow your own advice, take care and find some joy in the holidays despite the sad memories.
On the tree thing... Years ago (12ish?) I sewed a simple christmas tree out of fabric & felt that could be hung on the wall because I had a new baby & 3 rambunctious young kids so I didn't want any kind of tree that could tip over. Well the "felt tree" as it has come to be called is a favorite family tradition now, preferred even over a big real tree. Some years we pin little wood & felt ornaments to the it but other years it is bare. It is about 4 ft tall & I made it in an afternoon from start to finish. I love the simplicity of it & even on years when we have done a proper tree with all the lights & ornaments, the felt tree still makes an appearance.
We had a live tree for 2 years, you just need to repot it slightly bigger each year until it's too big to carry. Ours died on year 3 though because of a heatwave and not enough watering. When we had a cat we tied our fake tree to the wall because he would use the tree as a back rest and scale the wallpaper! He took our tree out often, but we kept it up, just picked it up each time, until we tied it to the wall, which helped.
Totally understand how you feel. My mum passed away in October and Christmas doesn’t feel the same. I have toned down my decor completely. Christmas reminds me of her. Every time I see tinsel in the shops I have to smell it as it takes me back to my childhood in the 80s. Sending love to you and your family xx
I’m so sorry for your loss. I completely understand - those little things like tinsel can bring such powerful memories. Sending you lots of love and comfort this Christmas. ❤️ Take care of yourself and your family. xx
The fireplace looks beautiful Catherine and defiantly in keeping with possibly how your feeling at this time, thinking of you ❤️
Hello, Catherine!! Well I don't have cats but I do have a small living room. So last year I decided to create a Christmas tree hanging on the wall, it was the best decision I made. No more crowded living room space during the holidays. There are a variety of wall trees on Pinterest etc... Wishing you happy holidays from Greece!!!🎄☃️🎅🙋
Hello! I love your idea of a wall tree - such a clever way to save space while still bringing in that festive spirit. I’ll have to look up some of those designs for inspiration! Wishing you a wonderful holiday season in Greece! 🎄☃️🎅
We also have a wall tree & it is a treasured family tradition. A couple of my kids want me to make them their own wall trees when they are adults & ready to move out on their own.
I love your nature themed mantel ♥ Whatever you decide is right for you, I'm sure it will be quite beautiful x
Thanks Alison ❤️
Your garland is absolutely gorgeous! Great job. I understand how you feel about the holidays after recently losing your mom! I lost my mom in June and feel the same. Sorry for your loss! It sure is hard without your mom! ❤
Thank you so much, and I’m so sorry for your loss too. It truly is hard without them, especially during the Christmas holidays. Sending you a big hug and lots of love this season. ❤
@ thank you so much! Same back to you sweetie! 🩷🩷
Your mantel looks Beautiful. You got me motivated .
Gorgeous garland and mantle display!
Your mantel is beautiful! Holidays are always a hard time after you just lost a loved one. Healing hugs to you!
Absolutely!! 😍💖💝 Be kind to yourself. True treasure and wisdom comes from within. Do you, boo!! 😘 Give yourself space and grace to truly honor yourself and your relationships. Love and Blessings Always, Catherine. 💚🍀💙
Thank you so much for those beautiful words! I really appreciate the encouragement and love. You’re absolutely right - honoring yourself and your relationships is so important. Sending love and blessings your way as well. 💚🍀💙
Thank you. 😊 I am grateful for you, Catherine. 💝
Aw Catherine. I truly thought of you a few times the past week in regards to the first Christmas without your Mammy.
Those firsts are so difficult.
Please know I'm sending you and your family the biggest heart hugs and thinking of you over Christmas ❤ much love x
Thank you for the kind words ❤️
No worries Catherine ❤️
Wow, that came out amazing! How great you foraged most if it! If you have a red or red and white ribbon, that would look nice on some of the items on the mantle. I hope you can get a tree. You can also put a hook in the wall and use a string from the tree to the hook it can hold it up. Depending on the size of the tree, you may need to use more than one hook, middle, and bottom. We had to do that, and it worked out well. Enjoy your week. I look forward to your next vlog.
Sweet girl just know the first year without Mom is definitely the hardest. And as you said give yourself grace. I lost my mother in 2019 . It's always hard but somehow you find a way to celebrate her even though she isn't here physically. Your mantle is beautiful. Maybe just your tree with lights and a star. Simple and beautiful🤗💓💕💞
Thank you for your kind and comforting words. I truly appreciate it. You’re so right - the first year is the toughest, but I’m slowly learning to celebrate her in different ways. Your tree idea sounds perfect - simple and meaningful. Wishing you lots of love and peace this holiday season. 💖🎄
@DaintyDiaries just do what feels right. Happy Holidays so glad you liked the idea of the tree. You are so much stronger than you know. Will be praying for your peace and comfort for the coming season 🙏🤗🙏💓💕💞
The mantel looks really gorgeous, its like the wallpaper came to life ❤
Catherine, I love the wallpaper on your fireplace wall! It's charming, feminine, and peaceful. Thank you for sharing your beautiful home and taste with us!
Love and respect from Vancouver, British Columbia ❤
Sending love and warm wishes right back to you in beautiful Vancouver! ❤
Wow Catherine! Your mantle looks fantastic!
Rosie Henshaw is another of my favourites. ❤ I wish you the very best Catherine and a merry Christmas 🎄lots of love x
Rosie is wonderful, isn’t she? Thank you so much for the kind wishes - sending lots of love and a very merry Christmas to you too! ❤🎄
I've never seen the use of chicken wire and it's brilliant. Thank you for a great tip. That and taking a picture!
Your fireplace decor looks great. Such a lovely video and beautiful message at the end! You are in my thoughts often as this is a difficult time for many. And yet, you continue to show up even though it is hard. Love and hugs! 🙏
That’s the prettiest natural swag I’ve seen..it matches your wallpaper perfectly xx
Thank you so much! I'm so glad you like it - the natural look really does complement the wallpaper. 😊💚 xx
Garland looks beautiful. I have cats, the youngest one removed all the decorations everyday. Good thing she’s cute. The older one did enjoy the things on the floor. I used a three foot pre-lit tree on the table top. Pets are a gift from God.
The holidays are very hard for a lot of people. My parents are gone. I lost both of my brothers and a sister-in-law. In the past 5 years. My sister and I are it. We spend time with her 2 daughters. We always have fun together.
Praying you find peace during the holidays. Merry Christmas 🎄
Thank you so much for your kind words and prayers. It sounds like your holidays have been filled with both love and loss, but it’s wonderful that you still find joy with your sister and her daughters. Pets definitely bring a lot of comfort, even if they are mischievous! I’m wishing you peace and warmth this Christmas, surrounded by those who bring light into your life. Merry Christmas to you and your family. 🎄💖
Catherine, your mantel looks so special and lovely! Your Mom would be proud of you 🙏🏻. As for your Christmas tree or not, I do not have cats so I am not much help. I know an idea will pop in to your head, and will be just right!
Thank you so much for your kind words! That means a lot to me. 🫶 I’m sure the right idea will come for the tree situation - sometimes it just takes a little time to figure it out. Wishing you a wonderful, peaceful Christmas season. 🌟
Catherine you be kind to yourself and the cats ,get the tree up as it will keep you occupied redoing it but then the cats might leave it alone now they are bit older . Big huge hugs from this old boot 🤗🤗🤗🤗❤️
Hello Catherine! This is Missy from Texas. I’m so glad I found your channel, you are such an inspiration for me. This will be the first Christmas that I’ve put up since my mom passed in 2003. We were blessed with a sweet little granddaughter so she’s helping me to get out of the holiday funk that I’ve felt for years. Your natural garland is absolutely beautiful. You have inspired me to make one too! I hope you have the happiest of holidays! I really understand how you’re feeling.
Thank you so much, Missy! I'm so glad to hear my video has inspired you. It sounds like your granddaughter is a lovely light in your life, and I'm sure she’ll make this holiday season extra special. I hope your garland turns out beautifully! Wishing you peace and joy this Christmas and beyond. Take care! 💖
The natural look for decorations is my favourite and it celebrates the season. Looks great.
Absolutely gorgeous!!!!
The garland is beautiful, your mantle this year is my favorite, well done. Take care
Thank you so much! I'm so glad you love it - that means a lot. Take care and have a lovely holiday season. 😊🎄
You're so creative it looks beautiful ❤
Your mantle looks so beautiful Catherine. I've been thinking of doing similar but like yourself procrastination is a fault of mine too... you've given me the push I need!
Just you make sure you're kind to yourself this Christmas too sweetheart...lots of love to you x
Thank you so much that’s so kind of you ❤️
Big hug for you Catherine, I know the pain you’re going through all too well. I lost my mom, dad and my sister. Take care of you, as time goes by it will get better. It just takes time. I love the woodland mantle! I have a woodland tree I put up every year. It’s my main tree in my living room full of woodland animals.
Thank you so much for your kind words and understanding. I’m so sorry for your losses as well. It’s comforting to hear that time does help heal, even if it feels slow at times. Your woodland tree sounds wonderful-what a lovely way to bring a bit of nature into your home for Christmas. I can imagine how cosy and special that must make your living room feel.
What an absolutely gorgeous garland! And perfect with the mantle decoration! Thank you for sharing your thoughts and creativity.
I love the mantle decorations, it's gorgeous!
Just gorgeous! Love it !
Lovely, Catherine! I love it. Love the kitty content too. I opted for sparse decorations for Christmas due to my 7 month old kitty terror. I’m hoping he grows out of his roaming destruction phase.😂 Much love and warm hugs to you and your family this Christmas. 🥰
The garland is gorgeous! Love the woodsy look on the mantle ….beautiful 🌲 🍄🟫🐈⬛😊❤️
Love your foraged mantle! I understand feeling walloped at the holidays after the loss of your mum; focus on the things that help bring you peace - grace is a beautiful concept.
Thank you so much! Your words mean a lot. Focusing on what brings peace is definitely helping this year. Wishing you comfort and peace this holiday season. ❤
Stunning garland. I have Irish ivy from the hedges along with other greenery from my garden on my mantle this year.
Thank you! Your mantle sounds absolutely gorgeous - there’s nothing like bringing in greenery from the garden to make it extra special. 🌿✨
Love the garland you made.❤
Thanks Brenda! 🎄 festive mood is on!
Oh my gosh Catherine, your mantel turned out absolutely gorgeous. I love your advice, I still have to give myself grace and it’s been three years since my husband unexpectedly died on November 29th. The whole month of November is hard for me because I dread that day coming all month and the terrible memories that it holds for me. Surround yourself with people who understanding and are empathetic. I realized it’s ok to reflect and say no thank you to get togethers and outings. The people who love you will understand.
I’m so sorry for your loss. Three years doesn’t make it any easier, and I completely understand how difficult those anniversaries can be. Giving yourself grace is so important, and you’re right - surrounding yourself with understanding people is key. Sending you so much love and strength this holiday season. Take care of yourself. ❤️
It’s my first Christmas without my Mom as well. Hugs to you ❤❤
I’m so sorry for your loss. Sending you a big hug and lots of love this Christmas. ❤❤️ It’s a tough time, but I hope you find some comfort in the memories you hold close.
Your mantle looks great.❤
Hi Catherine just take time to remember the lovely memories you shared with your mum at Christmas. The first year of loss is always the hardest.
As for the cats and the Christmas tree, cut orange peel into strips and hang from tbe lower branches. Cats dont like the smell of orange. Take carex
Thank you Marilyn that’s kind of you ❤️ and thanks for the tip! 🍊
You have a talent and gift like no other....gorgeous!! Never change...be true to yourself always!! Extra hug and lots of love from South Africa 🇿🇦
Catherine your garland looks lovely! You’re so creative! I hope your Christmas is a beautiful one. Thinking of you🌲🕊️
Thanks so much Grace! Hope you have a wonderful Christmas too 🎄❤️
Absolutely beautiful ❤thank you for sharing all of your lovely videos. Merry Christmas from Connecticut USA 🇺🇸
And Mrs t lovely video the garland looks great and your words at the end were very moving so well done
Thank you so much for your kind words! I’m really glad you liked the video and the garland. It means a lot that my words resonated with you. Wishing you a peaceful and joyful holiday season. 😊💖
I absolutely love your natural garland and display.
My neighbor has 4 cats 2 adults, and 2 kittens. She is not putting up a tree due to the kittens.
I suggested 2 foot trees and stagger them. 1 down, 1 midway, and 1 down again.
Catherine your mantelpiece is beautifully adorned with your own garden produce. I’ve not heard of ivy blossom or berries before so you learn something every day! I watch Rosie Henshaw too, she’s fabulous too isn’t she? Take care and I hope you decide on your tree dilemma 🎄💫✨💖🐈⬛🐈
Thank you so much! I’m glad you liked the mante! Rosie Henshaw is indeed fabulous, I completely agree-her style is so inspiring. As for the tree dilemma, I’m still figuring it out, but your encouragement means a lot! 🐾💖
You need to grow your own Hops. Very easy, very satisfying.
and make some cheeky beer!
Hello for your Christmas tree you could put a fence in front of it, I love Rosie Henshaw vlog, your garland is beautiful, take care have a wonderful week
Love your woodland mantlepiece, it looks beautiful. Sending lots of love for the season which this year will be difficult but just remember all the wonderful times you spent together ❤
It looks beautiful ❤🎄💞
Beautiful. Happy holidays dear!
So sorry about your Mom!!!!! Love the garland and that mantel is gorgeous!!!! Love from NY......Have a Happy Holidays!!!!!
Thank you so much for your kind words and love. Wishing you a happy and peaceful holiday season too! ❤🎄
@@DaintyDiaries Yvw!!!!
Gorgeous ivy garland and mantel display! Love the natural look. I have cats, too, and forego the big tree but put up lots of little ones around - grapevine, bottlebrush, wooden, all kinds. I put ornaments in a large glass cylinder to display them on an entryway table. There are ways to work around the fur babies and still have Christmas decor. You are so creative, I'm sure you will make it beautiful. Hugs to you, as I know it's hard this year. Holidays carry so many memories. Let yourself feel whatever you're feeling and, yes, give yourself grace. God bless you, Dear Catherine. May He hold you close.
Thank you so much for your kind words and thoughtful suggestions! I love the idea of using multiple smaller trees and displaying ornaments in a glass cylinder. It's such a creative way to keep the festive spirit alive while being mindful of the cats. I truly appreciate your understanding and encouragement during this time. Wishing you peace and joy this holiday season, and sending hugs back to you. 💚
@DaintyDiaries ❤️
I think kittens in christmas trees brings joy. I've had cats all my life and yes they cause trouble but its ok. I do now buy non breakable bulbs. People know when they come over that a cat lives here and my tree will never be perfect. But my Christmas is perfect because of all the joy 😻
That’s a great way to look at it ❤️
That is so beautiful I wish I could do something like that 😊
Hi you work so hard on your home and the mantle looks amazing xx
Thank you so much! I'm so glad you like the mantle. It's always a work in progress, but it's so rewarding to see it come together. 😊💖
Beautiful! The taking a picture thing that reveals a different view is correct. Can't explain it but I use it to identify how to fix my paintings! Lol
Hey, on the tree options, I used a small 3ft tree over the last few years. I propped it on a small round side table and it worked out really well, too small for kitty to climb and as it was pre-lit and just a cone and berry style there was little for herself to play with. (I did put some mini baubles on but nothing she could do much damage to :) Another option I used in the past was a twig tree, again pre lit and minimally decorated. This year I put up a 6ft fully loaded ribbons and all tree and so far, she's left it be. Wishing you peace this Christmas 🤍
Such great ideas! I love the thought of a small, minimalist tree - perfect for keeping things kitty-friendly while still feeling festive. Your 6ft tree sounds lovely, and it’s great that she’s been good with it! Wishing you peace and warmth this Christmas too. 🤍🎄
I love what nature creates so much better than the faux manufactured Christmas... everything you created looks so good!!!
Thank you so much! Nature truly has a way of making everything feel so special and authentic. I’m so glad you like what I’ve created! 🌿🎄
Your mantel looks so amazing great job
Hugs to you at this sad time of year ❤❤
That garland is wonderful. I did not know ivy had blooms ( or berries).
Catherine the fire place looks stunning loving the theme.garland is brilliant.sending love and hugs to you and all those missing loved ones Suexx
Looks beautiful, especially with the fire blazing ! You truly are gifted 😊 I am still out on the Christmas tree 🎄 having tuff time deciding myself ❤
This past summer I decided to put an outdoor pot against a garden north facing white wall, so it was chicken wire I used inside the pot scrunched up, and I bought faux outdoor lavender and arranged it inside the chicken wire, then sat the pot against the wall, the pop of colour was lovely throughout summer. Your garland is beautiful Catherine.
What a clever idea with the chicken wire and faux lavender! It sounds like a stunning way to add a pop of colour against a white wall - I bet it looked gorgeous all summer long. Thank you so much for the kind words about the garland, I’m so glad you like it! 🌿💜
Just wonderful display on the mantle! It will take you all the way through winter if you refresh the garland.
Wire the Christmas tree to the wall, and decorate with unbreakable ornaments. My adult, 17lb cat always got in my tree! 😂❤🎉
Thank you so much! That’s a great tip for keeping the tree safe - I might just try wiring it up! 😂 Sounds like your cat kept things interesting! Wishing you a fun and festive season! ❤🎄🎉
