- Firing of a twentieth Scale model of an early eighteenth century English 6- Pounder on an early sea carriage.
The model gun has a calibre of 4,8mm and a calibre length of 21. This fully functional model is scratch built by hand.
Excellent work.
Even seeing a demonstration with such a small scale model on a tabletop gives a good insight in to naval gunnery during the eighteenth century. With the delay between lighting the touchhole and the gun actually firing one can imagine the importance of timing on a rolling ship.
Thanks very much, I'm so glad you enjoyed this.
This is a very pretty looking miniature
Thank you very much.
Fantastic naval shot, as always lovely to see you and follow you.
Thank you very much!

Nice job Andrew 👌🏼
Cheers thanks Mark
Nice video! Were there any guns either above deck or below designed for anti personnel use? what kind of shot would they use?
Yes indeed there were. Swivel guns were the most common anti-personnel weapons and would have fired grape shot. They were often placed on the quarter-deck railings overlooking and protecting the ship's waist from boarders.
in the full battle ships of the era, the 6lbs guns of the upperlost decks were considered 'anti personel' and used often to shower the other sides uppermost decks with grape shot or canister.
