- This isn't a how to video. It's just a suggestion as to how you can repair the noisy fans these chargers come with. The original fan has a bushing issue which I believe is caused by excessive clearance between the inner bushing diameter and the outside axle diameter of the fans shaft. This causes the fans lubricating oil to leak out and this in turn makes the bushing run dry. The result is an annoying noise that goes away with a few taps of the charger, but this noise will get worse as the bushing continues to wear out. I have tried oiling the bushing which you can do my carefully removing the decal on the front of the fan. But the oil will still leak out all over the back of the fan as it leaks past the bushing.

Im having a similar problem except my fan suddenly goes to max rpm then the charger shuts off, hopefully a new fan will fix that. Thanks for posting the link!
I don't think that will help you. That sounds like an issue with the chargers control board.
@@RobertNES816 so that fan in the link didnt fit in my charger, it did fix the problem tho. i found a 30x30x7mm fan on amazon, that one will fit

12 volt 30x30x7mm fan.
So is the fan blowing cool ain in or is it blowing hot air out? My fan just died but the charger still charges ( put a small nimah battery from a prerunner on to test this) I have a few small portable and desktop fans around the house. Could I use this as a bandaid for the 10 days O have till payday?
It blows inwards. The battery for the prerunner is small and only needs to charge at 2 amps so it won't put allot of stress on the charger. Larger batteries will.
Putting a small fan in front of the air vents would help. But if you have a larger battery or a lipo battery then you'll need to fan. In front of the fan are three large resistors that are used to discharge a lipo for storage mode and for balancing. If those resistors get hot enough they'll ruin the charger.
I have a non working charger. Its the same model. Fan does not come on at all and will not charge. Lights in the middle turn on but unit does not respond to any of the buttons being pressed. Not even start stop button. Any ideas what to check?
Send it back to traxxas for repair or throw it away. I stopped using traxxas chargers actually. My easy peak dual had an issue where all the lights came on, on the right side and it wouldn't respond to anything. Traxxas wanted me to send it back for repair (out of warranty). I thought that was dump for a charger that was only a few months old so I just threw it away and switched to chargers made by Hitech. I haven't had any issues since.
@@RobertNES816 do you have a part number? Im not heavily into rc cars, im just trying to get this thing back up and running for my boy. I would like something more reliable as you mentioned. Thanks.
@@bigboybuilder77 Look into the Hitec RDX1 charger and if you already have traxxas lipo batteries I'd try and sell em and look into other brands like Lectron Pro, Powerhobby, Gens Ace. Those are the brands I trust.
