You know how much we love driving fence posts around here, and we may have just stumbled upon the cheapest way to drive t-post fence. - Навчання та стиль
I use a bosh rotary demo hammer with a modified ground rod driver (there is not a commercially available t-post attachment, which is nuts). If your working in rock, you can pre drill a hole with the demo hammer, then drive the post right it. Sinks a post 18” in seconds.
I’m still stuck with manual driver lol. It builds muscle, character, grit, soreness, back pain, stiff hands and a urge to quit lol
Current situation 🤣🤣
Also it cultivates arthritis
And it runs on Coors Light and caffeine
They work great for removing the post
Adds inches to girth
I spent one day working for a wily old hillbilly electrician. He had to run an 8' grounding rod into the soil until only 10" or so was left showing. You don't have to dig far around here to find solid granite, and I wasn't sure how he planned to make this all work. He put a ground rod driver attachment on his jackhammer, inserted the grounding rod into the attachment, locked the power trigger on and stood the ground rod upright with the drill balanced on it, 8' in the air over his head. He plugged the jackhammer in, and I watched in astonishment as the ground rod slowly disappeared into the soil. Didn't take more than a couple minutes.
I like how you showed us the chain lifter and then said, "There's a link in the description." 😜
Can we just take a moment to recognize that someone does have to bring home the bacon. Nice job guys.
Thanks Roger! 👍🏻
Wow, I’m glad I stumbled across your channel. It’s refreshing to listen to people who know what they’re doing and know what they’re talking about. I enjoyed the video thank you both!
I appreciate that!
“We’ve got your pounding needs covered”
You can take them out with a Highlift jack also. They make a similar bracket. Works pretty slick.
I just sunk close to a thousand on a DeWalt cordless fencing stapler , the staples, batteries and charger to erect 300' of 8' deer fencing.
Just because I refuse to hand bang that many staples and because of my big fingers I would drop more staples on the ground than I would pound in.
As for the T posts I only have 30 of those to put in right now but as I plant more trees I will need to erect more deer guards around them. Each of which requires two T posts.
When I saw the price of the that post driver that you discarded at the beginning of the video I balked at the $90 price tag. I'm beginning to think differently.
Thanks for the information and entertainment
Not in the business, dont want to be in the business, yet I watched this video to the end because you two made it that entertaining.
Well shucks! Thanks!
I've pounded miles of t post manually, with 80 plus year old men. Repairing 100 year old fence in northwest Colorado. Long handle pliers and a hammer. The old way is more conducive to contemplation, and actually being a useful man when you're 80.
That's how I started, but it's not really how I want to finish. 😏🙂
You guys have a great dynamic for the youtube platform. Id watch a video from you two on just about whatever you want to make a video on.
That's one of the nicest things anyone's ever said to us!
Yes, it's a fun video with good information
Good review ! 👍👍
I used a Hilti electric jackhammer and a Honda generator to drive survey posts into the ground. I also used a spade on it to break ground in the winter. It was a game changer in the 1900's.
Gentlemens, thanks for the honest review. For most of us we are not needing variety or speed. The electrical jackhammer is a far more affordable option for my Bob-Whar fences. Showing that it is a viable option was most enlightening.
(I am posting a serious and sincere thanks… just this once! LoL)
LOL! Glad it was helpful! Just this once you get a serious and sincere "You're Welcome." 😜
Great cost effective option if your primary need is for t posts and like you guys said you’ll have a jack hammer too 👍
Good stuff
Genius!
I cheat these days, since I now have a tractor, I stick the T post in the ground enough that it stands up straight and then use my bucket bracket that’s flat heavy metal and use the hydraulics to drive the T post in the ground.
Long as you got room for your tractor to get to your T post. It’s hard to beat and you can easily drive the T post in the hardest ground just short of solid rock.
It’s my favorite way to drive T post these days! 😂
Pro tip fill your bucket with dirt or rock before trying to drive the post you get a lot more bang for your buck
I use a hand sledgehammer. That way I'm always carrying around the full power needed, no gas, no cords. Just huge biceps (and soft sand).
I've been looking for my huge biceps but haven't been able to find them lately. I know I left them around here somewhere...
I’m about to order the bracket and bit, but I want to convert confirm that it fits an SDS Max system.
You'll have to call the shop to confirm product details. 👍🏻 (307) 578-8040
Hi guys.
I have a regular jackhammer I use for breaking concrete. Fairly big one with a pointy tip.
Will that work with that adaptor or will the jackhammer need a special round tip to fit in the adapter.
I used a rhino style tee post driver in the past but it was very hard to balance, especially if a little guy was operating it. They didn’t like that at all. (Same thing with gas augers. They hand dig whenever possible I’ve noticed).
Also have you done a comparison video between the post puller you were using in the video and a high lift jack?
Thanks
The adapter comes with the rounded-tip shaft. 👍🏻 www.swifence.com/copy-of-t-post-driver-original.html?id=101240400
Love the post lifter. I had to pound ground rods and remove them on a site, years ago to identify where the ledge was. I used a hi-lift jack and two pairs of vise grips. Man, that was SLOW! Do any of you post pounders have an adapter for ground rods?
We don't use an adapter. Just set the pounder on top. ua-cam.com/video/zREayB2TaLU/v-deo.html
@@SWiFence Good video. The connector on the rod is called an acorn and the one for the fence is a split bolt. I’ve rented heavy duty hammer drills that can hammer without spinning. They work well with a cup bit, but they are expensive.
Make an adapter for the Rhino, so that it does not have to go over the end of the post (too high for comfort). The adapter could be just like the cast iron bracket that the rotohammer needs. Then the Rhino could work by two methods.
Is the rhino available to rent ? I’m watching all your videos before I start on my fence because I have no idea what to do haha ! Awesome video ! Subd!
Depending on where you are someone around you might rent it. It's not as common as I wish it were.
Just run your top wire and have a buddy hold the post and press the post in with a tractor with a front end loader I have done as many as 300 in a little over an hour.
Great information! 👍 Question... your opinion, please...can an older woman mid sixties in age and pretty healthy handle the T post attachment for hammer drill? Would like to see a video of a woman's thoughts and efforts using one... have to figure out a way for myself to install a T post fence without any help.....ug
I love that you're active and up for this! To be honest, it's truly impossible to say--everyone is in a different condition. The hammer drill weighs a bit, I imagine it could start to feel pretty heavy pretty quickly if you're not regularly working outdoors already. But if you're someone who is already stacking hay bales I imagine you'd be fine.
What size hammer will this work with? Will it fit into an SDS Max hammer?
Not sure. You'd have to check the shaft size and compare it. www.swifence.com/copy-of-t-post-driver-original.html?id=101240400
So who owns this unit and lifts it up
As soon as I saw the tool, I knew a shoe would have been invented. 5 seconds later, there it was.
Why not use the water wands
I have a gas-powered jackhammer. No cord necessary.😅
Good lord, pounding that many posts would give you the shoulders of a greek god!
or of a 90 yr old ex-pitcher in a nursing home.
I use my bobcat with hydraulic hammer when I can ...just cut the end of the chisel and weld a "cup"
What part of florida are yall in?
St Augustine
Less special tools the better
Ahh. Another item where the old timers will say "back in my day"..... lol
i want to take a moment to mention that they are all very loud and require hearing protection. the manual one is crazy loud with your ear right there next to that supper panful "PING".
Yes. For sure.
I decided to retire than continue doing that crap and building decks in my sixties. Those are sure better than the post "bells".
3600! I'll just keep the workout
👍🏻 You'll look better for it anyway. 💪🏻
To be clear though, that's the premium driver price. The t-post driver is waaaay cheaper.
@@SWiFence yes sir. Haha
I mean yalls doesn't really work on any t post any longer without a ladder then you probably aren't much faster
Looks good, but it's in the wrong spot. Now pull it out.
What’s with the edit at 7 seconds
I... I don't know? Not sure what you're talking about.
Takes longer 😂😂😂😂 50 seconds longer
Ever run t-posts for miles? That adds up.
Cheapest way if you own a tractor with a loader.Just sit bucket on the post and sink it .
Driving posts is just gay
Well ok then! 🤣 There's a well-reasoned argument...
NO contest!! The $780 hammer is the way to go because for the extra money you could buy a nice solar generator or gas powered generator and still have enough money to take the family out for dinner a few times!!!
If you don't have heavier fence posts you need to drive, then yes, I completely agree with you.
⚡ O no the opposites, slop o sites .
