Troy, I hate to be a sound like a "stick in the mud" type of person but where you had the chain attached to the tractor is NOT advisable as in the case of a hard pull, you run the risk of snapping the rear axle housing or possibly pulling the threads out of the housing that holds the axle housing to the differential., use a round metal bar that will just fit the holes in the lift arms and use that as a anchor point on the tractor or if you have access to a draw bar use that. Just giving you advice to keep future expenses from occurring.
Hey you have a power lift on your tractor 3pon hitch...it be so handy if you make a 3 pon hitch crane for your rear of tractor (Looks just like your lift on front of your trailer..),And install your cool tongs to rear of tractor Crane (Make crane and Weld up out of square tubing
You should see if you can find a boom like The Outsider has for his tractor. It would make things so much easier for you! With the price of lumber right now, running a sawmill is a great way to generate income, so long as you have access to logs.
8N fords aren't heavy enough in the front end to lift a log of the size he pulled off the trailer, the front of the tractor would have raised completely off the ground first then if he had tried to travel with it could have possibly flipped the tractor over backwards , depending on how fast he released the clutch. Using a boom pole of standard size with the lifting point at the end of the pole anything weighing around 400 pounds is enough to raise the front of tractor.
@@Band1.. I know but on his particular tractor there is no way to add weight to help hold it down. especially when using a boom pole and having the log hooked all the way at the end of the pole.
Banging on those Tongs with your hand can HURT YOU AFTER a while ...Harbor Freight sells CHEAP Rubber mallets that work GREAT FOR THAT ???? Won't hurt the TONGS ....WON"T hurt the HANDS >>>???????
Hi Troy, Having a front end loader on the tractor would make short work of pushing the logs too, and would be very helpful in many other obvious and not so obvious ways. You can also get a hydraulic extension boom arm that you could lift the logs off the trailer instead of pulling them, a much safer way to pick them up to. It's great to see things working out for you there. I'm so happy about all of this and what it represents and will do for you all! Keep Safe, Peace, Happiness, Love and Laughter Always, -Matt
