WOW! THANK YOU! I've been wanting to do a H6 swap into my 15 brz! The EZ36 is what I want to use And knowing that the FA20 transmission will bolt up directly to an EZ block is some god send info!
@@resuort Mechanically it doesn't seem to be to much work, but I'm not sure about wiring and electronics... Is it possible to do by yourself if you're not an electrician?
This is some really great info, I've been looking for a proper rwd trans for my impreza drift car and it's nice to find out that you can use the brz trans with a little fab work.
Sweet build man, really helpful. I am currently in the process of ez36D swapping a 1995 impreza wagon with a brz transmission for a drift build. Wiring hopefully wont be a huge issue for me though as i am doing a dash swap and am going to attempt to swap over the entire wiring harness from my tribeca.
I'm thinking of an EZ30R into a 3rd gen with a BRZ transmission. Hearing about the wiring, I may just skip it all and dive straight into a standalone. With some luck I can even retain air conditioning, but that's a bridge to cross in a year or two. Thinking of 4th gen lgt brakes and an R180 but I'll have some head scratching to do with the axles.
You have a lot of franken subie experience it seems. What are your first thoughts on the idea of an eg33 mated to a brz trans, with that combo being used in the brz or potentially that motor and trans being put into say a gen1 legacy? Do you think either would be doable fitment wise, or one definitely easier than the other. Would be a personal project, no real intentions other than fun weekend use and maybe a couple track days for the thrills. Thanks if you have any thoughts on the idea.
Personally, I think putting a brz transmission into an SVX would be awesome. You get the eg33, a cool unique car, and you make it more special and more fun to drive by making it manual and RWD.
@@TIRESIDE That's funny. The thought crossed my mind too after I sent that message. I would consider it mostly if it was a way to reduce weight by having less driveline. So many options when you have legos
Hey! Planning to do this to a 2006 legacy, the easier part is the engine is already in, however, the 4th gen I heard has a canbus system and all, is this ECU flash method work for that? or how could that be solved?
I am writing to you from Argentina and my name is Diego. I am going to start a swap project on my Subaru Impreza gc8 and I have a choice of the ez30 or ez36. Looking for information, they comment that the ez30 is simple to assemble but the ez36 is not. They say the ez36 need modifications. I want to ask you what modifications you had to make to install the 3.6 engine and what transmission system did you use. I'll be very greatful. hug.

So how did it go? I haven't seen anyone doing that
So I'm leaning about wiring my self and haven't started the swap but it will be something I will be doing.

Yes it's possible.
An EJ will bolt up to the trans.
Engine: 0:33
Transmission: 9:05
Rear Diff: 17:06
Harness: 18:05

Does doing a whole dash swap eliminate most issues with wiring? Interested in doing a similar swap

Wow! Amazing detail! You helped me a lot! Great video! Thank you!!!
Thank you man you awesome 👍 great project 😊 i love to see old but gold cars white engine like h6
Doing this with a 2.5i with a EG33. Going with a high compression build.
Now build a 3.6 engine, port some heads, add a cam, individual throttle bodies. 😁
@@stevenp3176 you sound like you LS swap RX-7s
Can you post the link to the generic harness merge write up? And contact info to the ECU tuner guy? I’m looking to do this to a 95 Impreza
Did you ever get Gabe’s contact info? I am interested in doing something like this as well, Thanks in advance!
Is there a video of the frs H6 driving?

Did you ever try a BRZ driveshaft? Or at least part of it mated to the original shaft?
Do you have that guy’s information that works with EZ ecu’s
is it possible for the stock 86 tailshaft work if the transmission is placed further back? would an 86 front cross member bolt into the liberty?
so much awesome info. i would like to know more about the map dccd control for the wheel speed. any thing else you can share?
All the info is on their site! mapdccd.com/vss.html
@@TIRESIDE thanks man. this really helping me out. much appreciated.
also did you try to see if the subaru AWD driveshaft even splined into the BRZ transmission??
The splines are different diameters and spline counts
whelp that sux, probably better to just weld a WRX center diff and run with that transmission
Nice build.
What did you do about the front hubs (no CV axle to strengthen knuckle/hub assembly)?
Machined off the hub end of the CV axle and bolted into the hub.

Hell yea man. Thanks.
Can u show more vids pics?
It helps me when I see it, I can understand it better.
I own a 2005 outback sedan 3.0R
What are the measurements to create the custom two piece driveshaft? Im currently buildinga 97 legacy with a brz trans as well.
This is a great video, I have been wondering if I can do this to my 01 outback llbean edition.
Hey, I may have missed it, but did you use a BRZ clutch/pressure plate and an EJ flywheel?
Brz clutch, pressure plate and flywheel
Whats the contact info for the guy who flashed the ECU for you?
I was thinking about putting a brz trans with my eg33 engine just not sure how how much modify I need to do to get those to mount up

do you have any idea how much length is added to the front half of the drive shaft? thats the only thing left for my build
I have a feeling I face a different set of issues already starting out with h6 everything.
Hi there just wondering who does the ecu reflash as wanting to manual my lancaster thank you
Gabe Corman on the six swap Subaru page on Facebook
Can you give us the name and contacts of the ecu tuner guy you used. That would be very helpful.
Is this still an ongoing project?
GR86 should have gotten flat 6!
God, could you imagine how fun that little thing would be with the h6? Unreal.
I need to see better pics of your transmission crossmember man, please
I have some pics that i can send you, im using the frs trans on my 95 impreza! But the mount should be the same.
@@rowenrosario2393 hey man would it be coo lif you can send them to me too im going to this this job on my 97 legacy
Is the 1st gen ez30 ecu flashable/tuneable?
Yes
Do you have an instagram?
MasMotorsports sure do! @tireside
