    You know, although this situation is old, this video spoke to me personally because I have gone through something similar in blog land. I made one mistake in a giveaway and a whole slew of other bloggers kind of bad mouthed me and disowned me. The situation has since been dissolved but what still bothers me is that their are people who had nothing to do with the situation picked sides without giving me a chance. I do think most of this is over competition, which is crazy to me. Very sad.

    Life is too short and there are too few black people doing well for all this. Unity is the key to success- a life's lesson for all. I love your channel because I like your personality. I like Kim's channel because her hair advice is good. Together you both are great. Its unfortunate we will fight over the crumbs while the feast is being had at the table.

    I feel real uneasy about what appears to be a "living in the bubble --- bought the hype syndrome". It's like we, as a people are suffering from gaping head wounds, and here you come with razor blades, not even band aids to help the situation. Bottom line is, as capable and phenomenal as you all are, could somebody think about throwing up a channel to parse our mental illness --- addressing causes and cures. We got to fix this, it's too serious, and only we can fix this. LOVE to all.

    @gettingphinenow She is good at what she does, no doubt about that. However people feel certain kinda ways about her, and people have that right, just like she has that right as well to block people. I don't agree with everything, but I just look at it as a learning experience. such is life, you think people are one way and they turn out very different.

    I believe that Mariane Williamson said it best,
    "Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate, our deepest fear is that we are adequate beyond measure, it's our light not our darkness that most frightens us." etc. It goes on to say that we should not shrink to make others feel secure around us. We were born to shine as children do, and when we allow our light to shine, we allow others to do the same.
    Let's all shine ladies!

    I like that you keep it real. I did notice how you were choosing your words wisely. You are slow to speak and quick to listen, and that means you think first. I really like that characteristic in people. Not everyone is able to do that. That is why the mis-communication happened. I pray for those who choose to attack others. I hope everyone takes the time to examine themselves including me.

  • @nadoop

    @DreaDevine I completely agree. I never understood the whole baking soda thing either, nor will I ever use it. But it's pretty conventional among all ethnicities for both hair and teeth, so you can't really fault the naturals for following conventional widdom. Also, I think it's important to understand that people have the right to do whatever they want, and if they want to use baking soda, then they should without them being accused of harboring a 'herd" mentality.

    It's about time MIss AE! I was wondering when and if you were gonna put it it out there like TAREN did. Not to feed into the drama but to ADDRESS the GAME and it's PLAYERS. Although this topic did seemed to ruffle the feathers of some YT "peacocks" I hope that you will continue to open your channel to diverse and thought-provoking subjects. THANKS.

    I'm late to the game so to speak, but I must say in watching all the videos regarding this issue, I am profoundly impressed on how you and @Taren916 handled the whole situation. You both have shown professionalism, maturity, and have the utmost respect from me as an Afro American, business woman, and person. I am subscribed to you both and I enjoy watching learning and just having fun on your channels.

  • @naturalbeauty930

    Im coming on youtube 2 years too late learning about the natural hair community and to see this is very sad. She is obviously jealous of you and I came across her channel and immediately found her extremely phony. You and Taren are my favorite, very down to earth naturals that keep it real and people like that have personal issues they want to put on others. You are doing a great job and as an older black woman, you live and learn. she will only destroy her own reputation. Good for you!

  • @nadoop
    @nadoop 13 років тому

    @DreaDevine The fact is the natural community is one community that has brought black women from all walks of life together like never before, so I think that's a positive. But if a lot of people are saying the same thing, then perhaps it's time to evaluate your approach and consider that perhaps there is problem. Remember, the vast majority of UA-cam viewers subscribe to multiple people because the majority of us appreciate diversity.

  • @epiphanybella

    You said "when my character is being questioned that is important to me" and that I believe is the "core issue" that got everything started and spiraling out of control. So, AE, if the vid was about jealousy among video makers, why bring it to us peons?! Most of us don't give flip! I subscribe to natural hair vidscuz at 46 years old, I need some help keepin my hair on head! I don't care what kind of 'tude that person has along as what she says keeps my hair on my head! It's all about my hair!

Why you are entitled to your opinion that's why. Sista you are too blessed to be stressed so keep it moving. I love tuning in every chance I get.

    Kimmaytube is absolutely crazy. I'm kind of embarrassed to say that I was a subscriber at some point. But I think every new natural unfortunately has to go through her Kimmay stage then see for herself how psycho she is. She really would BLOCK anyone that has a different viewpoint as her and expresses it in their comments. Just found out today, that she did that to me, and I don't even remember what I wrote. It probably wasn't even serious. Her condescending attitude and voice is annoying too.

    THANK YOU!!! Thank you for the CLASS to come back and explain what you were really trying to say. The jealosy thing really threw me in the other vid so thanks for the clarification, This vid is what makes you stand head and shoulders above others. I have seen several gurus in the past month make ASSES of themselves in response vids to viewers or responsed stupidly to other gurus. All would have been forgiven if they had the CLASS to say "I'm human" or "I didn't express that how I wanted to."

  • @cmwen
    @cmwen 14 років тому

    That happened to everyone to say things that we don't think. That happened to me to say things when I am annoyed, then to regret them. We are a SMALL community, and so young also. All we need to do is to support each other. You Taren, Kim are doing such a wonderful job! I used to worked in strong male environment, women were doing well because we were supportive to each other. UA-cam is violent, aggressive and not always peaceful. Hope all three of u will continue to stay strong "together"

    I think its real interesting all the women up here talkin like they "knew" all this science kimmaytube been putting out there in her videos but if you check am pretty many of you talking have DRY, DAMAGED, UNHEALTHY hair! Which begs the question, if you "knew" all of this before why don't we see it reflected in your hair? And yes, healthy hair grows so if you been stuck at your chin for that couple years unintentionally then this post is for YOU!

    @naijasweetie13 the biggest reason for refraining from pointing out Kim was because the intention of the debate and discussion on integrity wasnt inspired by her. I felt that if I mentioned her as the focus then that would only confirm in peoples minds that I intentional conspired. However the drama that insued is because of IMO paranoid assumptions, and now people have gotten their hands dirty by trying to be vendictive and concoct proposturous allegations. I hate to go THERE but its a wrap.

    I think at the end of the day its about intention. Everything we do in life is based on the intent behind our actions. If you are posting videos soley for endorsment and fame...it shows. If your intent is to share knowledge and learn from others the followers will come because the intention for it is genuinely about helping other people. I have so many people I am subscribed to and each one has something special to bring to the table. Keep it positive at all times AE, keep keepin it real!

    I am definitely subscribed to such channels as this and Tarens, Naptural, BBBD, and so forth.. I was on SimplYounique's channel and heard a shout out to Kimmay's channel so i went to see what she was talking about.. unfortunately i never even got a chance to see an actual hair video because the feeling i got from the "commercial" on her page was impersonal. One of the reasons i LOVE the mentioned channels is because they are THEM.. Kimmay seemed fake.

    If Kimmay is a "B" then they all are. I don't like using that word when referring to anyone, especially women. African Export is the person who got this mess started and now she is seating back watching it unfold. Touble maker.

    100+ videos. I mean, at the end of the day it's about individuals helping others to keep our natural hair on our heads, which will help us to have more positive outlooks on who we are as black women-from the viewer in the UK to the viewer in Africa, the Caribbean, you name it. It really does not matter does it? I stumbled across so many channels that I view for different reasons and we all learn something from someone-that's okay.

    @DreaDevine You know what, all I have to say about that is good observation on your part. Many people study psychology and other social and behavioral science fields and still don't have a clue, or don't care to utilize the knowledge to better understand the human condition, and so I commend you for trying to see the good in people no matter what. We all should strive to do that, myself included. So thanks for your perspective...it makes so much sense. Peace n Luv.

    I totally agree with u!!!!! People have to remember where they came from and not feel like the world must wait on them!!!! It's shameful to think that a healthy debate turned into a mud slinging contest!!! But over confidence is the killer of dreams so she should come back down to earth!!!!

    In all honesty, I listened to you objectively in this video and I think that you are correct with a lot of what you said. Continue to "keep it real." On another note, persons will always say what they have to say or think what they have to think about you no matter how genuine and honest you are so the way that I see it, the most important thing to do is to be who you are. It is impossible for everyone to like you or anyone else. Glamazini's song on her channel exemplifies this-"Gotta be me."

    I appreciate you keeping it real. I will say that I like YT because the content is not so commercial and generic in nature. I do realize that most of the popular YT'ers have the more professional videos but again the content is more authentic and the appeal is the person. So please remember when the content changes from authentic dialogue that is informative & entertaining to a commercial. Then you will start to lose viewers because I can watch TV and view commercials.

  • @nadoop
    @nadoop 13 років тому

    @DreaDevine Finally, if a natural spent 10 years using baking soda in her hair with success, then please expect her to get defensive if you tell her the approach she swears by is wrong. The fact is I've sen naturals who use chemicals in their hair on a daily basis and still experience good hair growth. The point is let people do whatever they want, and accept the fact that hair growth has a lot to do with genetics as well, so this one-size-fits all approach is completely off in my opinion.

    This whole situation just made me realise that some people measure someone's worth by the number of subscribers they have on YT, the more subscribers the more BS one can get away with...weak minded people would let somebody verbally abuse them in a second... @Romney87 rude comments= kim drama=subscribers bashing, the initial discussion had nothing to do with her, assumption that it did prompted the rude comment to commentors and the other video maker. So i guess what im trying to convey is the "drama" begain with the comments made from instigator K, my reply video addressed that . The name added was to clarify who I was referring to in the video, but not to confuse the intent behind the initial debate or discussion.. Does that make sense.?

    I want to emphasise that if everyone loves a particular person then something is wrong with that. I'm just writing in general here so don't think that I mean anyone in particular. On the topic of jealousy, yes I believe that in life people are envious of others. Actually, someone once said to me that jealousy is a form of flattery because it means that that person has achieved something that the jealous party has yet to achieve.

    Is there anyone else here (like myself), who really has no idea what really went on, and does not have time to try to piece this mess together? I got a quick summary, but otherwise I totally missed all of the drama. And to be quite honest, a summary was all I needed. That being said, if a person don't like someone's videos, personality, or comments, there is an option called Unsubscribe and the YT'ber can be easily deleted from your world. Easy fix; it's just UA-cam.

    You handled this very well! Thats Keeping it real! my opinion. It is really sad though to see personalities of the such come out in a way that is so negative. We are all grown. And hopefully apologizes can be said and all this can get squared away with.

    I believe you should be able to address any issue you like on your own channel. Admittedly some of this was open to misinterpretation. I hope that this will not deter you from addressing controversial issues if you feel the need to. I appreciated your candour in this. Like many have stated on YT, they are personal opinions. They not necessarily be yours or mine, for that matter, but they are what people believe and should be taken on board and learned from. Good call AE.

    I don't think it's always necessary to separate business from personal life. Your personal life is just that, PERSONAL. How much you choose to integrate it with your career is completely up to you. Furthermore, I think that making videos on YT is a great way to promote business as well as educate others. Honestly, I think that's all that Kim is doing. People should respect the way others handle their lives. Whether you agree or not, just do your hair and be happy.

    People just need to step back and take a deep breath for a second. *breathes* How quickly we *ALL* forget about what it was like before the days of youtube and we were all trying to figure out all this isht on our own... or if we were lucky enough to see a sister in the street to ask her what she's doing. We are all witness to the beginnings of an industry game change in the black hair world, and... honestly if sisters want to own their isht and be entrepreneurs we should be applauding.

    her comment to you " I don't know either of them personally & yet I have helped them both to grow & share in my success. UA-cam sucess is all about exposure. This is my thanks" was so condescending! She basically said you would be nothing without me! please, i found taren916 and you waaay before I found her. Maybe if she adjusted her attitude and become a more likeable person, people wouldn't be jumping down her back so much

Girl dont sweat it, that just means ur doing something right and the haters cant stand it. Keep up the good work chica! Luv Ya!

    I agree. I think there are quite a few people who are happy this has happened. The topic went from integrity and devolved into people trashing others and taking sides.

    Great response. I think that some people just wanted to keep the drama going with all the disrespectful comments when it got to be completely unnecessary. If they didn't like or respect the video maker, they could've just unsubbed or whatever. Why keep all going? I think the whole thing got outta control and for what?

    I bite my tongue more than you all realize. ) I ignore the negativity, etc. But sometimes enough is enough. I have to admit, my sore spot comes from the fact that I have never been anything but supportive to both taren916 & AFRICANEXPORT, in every single way.
    I don't know either of them personally & yet I have helped them both to grow & share in my success. UA-cam sucess is all about exposure. This is my thanks!

    Well, Kimmaytube did say she owns a business, so maybe that "Boss" mentality comes through in everything she does. I did notice a few... pop up comments that
    made me question her intentions. I still like her methods. I will say debating is not for the sensitive cause there are so MANY views.

    ps : AE I hope you won't change your title because :
    1/ it's a free country
    2/ it has something to do with what you're saying in the video. Well at least for those of us who perfectly understood what you were trying to say in the video. (Sometime being too subtle can get some of us lost, but the lost ones won't admit the stuff was too deep for them. They''ll just comment any ol' kind of way.)

    I like you as, I was attracted to the 'Keep It Real' character of mine /that was my main motto 20 yrs ago and still is. I warned you when you jumped track on the race relationships that you may as well keep doing vids. You opened a good can of worms. I love controversy and debatable subjects. We need to use this forum, while we can, and take the opportunity to discuss useful dialouge that will make a huge impact on our lives.

    Keeping it real and being respectful is a hard balance for some to achieve. I think this video was able to have that balance. You didn't start the drama, it was already behind the scenes. It took a particular question to bring it all to the surface. Sometimes that's a good thing--so that issues can be dealt with and we can realize where we still need to grow/learn. Now, that's all done with, hopefully we can move on to bigger and better things. I look forward to your future videos :o)

    Stay positive AE. I love your channel and integrity. I think everyone has something authentic to bring to the natural YT community. But personality is key when you talk about "the integrity of a channel" I think she may have lost hers along the way and business probably did get the best of her and overshadowed that personality many of us grew to love her for in the beginning. Lesson learned. Your authentic self is what gets you far in life, and INTEGRITY is a great part of that authenticity. SMH

    This is ridiculous, can it stop? I had no idea what was going on and when I found out, I thought it was petty. Some people have started turning this into skin tone and hair texture. Someone calling kimmaytube a "darkie" and "nappy headed b***h" and saying the taren lady she's "lighte skin with good hair". I mean both these ladies are beautiful. All I wanted is to learn about hair. Let the parties involve just put this behind them and move on.
