This 15:00 is a great insight and a practice. It is impossible to separate the existence from any object, a book for example, but I can separate my own existence from my object "my body and thoughts" by continuously focusing on "I am" thought and feeling in my own mind. Eventually, it will end in Samadhi and enlightenment. Wonderful!
Namaskar Swami Sarvapriyanandaji Maharaj 🙏🏻 This talk is mesmerising. It gives me feeling that, How much more is there to learn & how little we know. May ShriThakur bless us all with your wonderful teachings … Thank you Vedanta society New York for sharing this 🌹
… though I am having a bit of trouble relating the overweight man and the ‘suffering jiva’ as parallel examples of presumption/assumption…but I’m in process of trying to wrap my head around it 😅🙏🏽🌸
Just clearing up my own previous confusion in a monologue: I was trying to place the emphasis in both the examples I previously mentioned on the idea of operating off of background assumptions and holding those background assumptions as fact or highest truth (i.e. holding the Shastra as the ultimate truth upon which to base all future conclusions, much how modern science/culture/etc works - including the notion that we are often blind to our own background assumptions). I couldn’t fit the example of the overweight man into this same schema the way it was presented in the video because the background assumption that one must eat well enough in order to become and/or remain overweight wasn’t explicitly stated. In other words, the background assumption comes first, and the conclusion (i.e. the man must eat at night) follows. After reading section 5 of the translated lecture by Dr. Shastri, though, I see that the emphasis for this example is placed on the notion of having two pramana that are in conflict with each other, prompting the postulation of a conclusion that will resolve the conflict (and not necessarily on the idea of the necessity of having an ultimate assumptions base upon which to formulate future reasoning/conclusions, as I think was stated in the video was a necessity that Shankaracharya conceded to). 😊
Amen Swami Sarvapriyanda. Jesus too identified as the "I am". Below is a list of seven “I Am” statements Jesus makes in the order they appear in the Gospel of John. “I am the bread of life.” 6:35 “I am the light of the world.” 8:12 “I am the door of the sheep.” 10:7 “I am the good shepherd.” 10:11 “I am the resurrection and the life.” 11:25 “I am the way, the truth, and the life.” 14:6 “I am the true vine.” 15:1

I have a question if some can help me in that.. If I am bramhan and all other things are just projection of bramhan, then everyone else will just be projection from my point of view, but from their point of view they will be bramhan and I will be a projection, I am confused in this. Further, if the goal is self realisation and moksha then if one person gets moksha then why do all of us don't get it considering that we all are indeed one, one getting moksha and another not, doesn't it create dualism ? Please enlighten me on these points.
Nisargadatta maharaj and Sri Ramana Maharshi had answered these types of questions. You as a separate body mind is not bramhan. You asked, when one person is realised, why others are not if all are one. Nisargdatta Maharaj said for me there is no you. You are asking a question and without thinking there is answer, like my body works without disturbing me, so question and answer happens without disturbing me. These people don't admit personal existence. In your dream, there is you and there other objects, but in reality all dream is content in you.
Brilliant exposition of Adhyasa Bhashya There are many similar expositions by true sages.. some of them- 1) Let the fire of wisdom spread .. stating there is no difference between Es😅wara and Jiva excepting the feeling of " upadhi"--Sri Ramana Maharishi 2) thought/words / body are are born out of reasoning . In fact they are only appearances --- Tamil gnani Thayumanavar. 3) Things have no substance.-. Swami ji quote some chopayis of ramcharit Manas depicting Brahman Atman infinity fully. In this way all scriptures will be brought in unity saying one truth that you are infinite limitless Brahman.
After enlightenment will our succeeding karma still affect us? Whatever we shall do next, will it still have its impact? I think karma will still have its impact otherwise we will lose our bodies.
When people know you are not breathing means death. Still you aren't die. When you ate full stomach. You didn't eat. When you cut others hand, still you didn't hit. Oh oh oh. What a knowledge. I am speechless. Learned one with dogmatic.

So very educative and thoroughly engaging. Just a personal suggestion. Kindly choose a more palatable example. The poor reptile in the example disturbs no end by its very invocation 😁
When Sri Sankaracharya says that pramana(proof) vyavahara itself based on Adhyasa how can we show pramanas(proofs) for Adhyasa ?Does it not appear as an absurdity to search for a proof of Adhyasa ?
Isnt the main difference between rope and snake is that snake is dangerous while rope is not? Implying that Fear is not real, wheras we feel fear very real ?
Pranam Maharaj 🙏 🙏. Nisarga Dutt Maharaj is the Vyadha of Mahabharata times ( ref. Vyadha Gita part ). Vyadha was Gyani, but lived as a householder selling meat ,again, here Nisarga Dutt Maharaj living as family man doing his family business ( like the Vyadha) ,his profession is also not respectable one in the eyes sophisticated ones ! So ,Vyadha was not a mythological character, neither also Mahabharata ( although high nosed intellectuals & historians consider so !).
I’m afraid 39:00 does seem like a cop-out. Saying mistakes are beginningless does not answer the question of where the perception of an imagined body-mind first arose. And if it does satisfactorily answer that question, why go through the trouble of explaining it away as the result of previous samskaras at all, why not just say directly that it’s a mistake and the objection raised (that one can only mistake A for B if B has been previously perceived) is simply wrong, that one can mistake A for B even if B has never been perceived (because that’s basically what the long drawn-out explanation ultimately amounts to anyway).
