Hi, thanks for watching, please see the other classic & vintage vehicle videos now on the Old Classic Car channel: ua-cam.com/channels/KaTg9fPUvmUQi94FcnDbrg.html
A very exciting project. I'm sure he knows what he is doing and will restore this car back to its original glory. I will follow everything with interest if videos are provided. Congratulations to your friend for finding this car.
I wish your friend the very best with this restoration. Certainly a project that is not for the faint hearted. There have been worse examples brought back to their former glory. The XK that sold very recently, that had been wrapped around a tree, and with very severe damage to the front end, proves he is in good company. Great to see another one of these beautiful cars preserved.
Do you think your friend can be talked into a UA-cam channel documenting the restoration? I for one would love to see its progress. Maybe a little too much pressure having the potential of a world wide audience!
One of the most beautiful designs ever- I had one in high school- all the other guys were into 57 Chevys. That one will be a challenge for a younger guy.
I'm sure 😃😃 all of the parts for restoration are in the container???? Your friend is a glutton for punishment but we're all grateful that he is bringing it back to life!!!!
Thanks William, some of the parts were in the container yes, and some of them were actually for a 120...!! He's cracking on with it, one day I'll do a catch-up video on progress. Thanks for watching.
I could have wept when I saw it in the container and, as you say, there's one heck of lot of years to get it anything like right. I am an XK man through and through but my favourite was the one I had- the XK140 FHC that maintained the Lyons' lines, wood etc. which were softened in the 150 along with the neneer dash - a Jag hallmark. It's like the MX5 I had - a Mk1 in BRC which had perfect lines and profile which were ruined by later bulous wheel arches and fared in headlights. But I tell you what the Mazda had a leak-proof hood whereas the beautifully lined 140 leaked! Great video and hope in future videos be able see any progress the brave man makes. Rob
Last I heard it's progressing well on the bodywork side of things, with work also having been accomplished on the chassis and running gear. I will try and pay a visit before too long and see if there's an update to be made. Thanks for checking out this vid!
I'll be keeping in touch with him over the years as he tackles it all so I hope to be able to provide brief updates to followers on here, and on the OCC forum (www.oldclassiccar.co.uk/forum/phpbb/phpBB2/). Thanks for watching
I remember as a young man driving one of those, when I was serving as an apprentice to be a auto body technician. I remember it being in rough shape, but it was fast. I also believe it had a wooden frame.
Looks very much like my XK 140 did when I picked it up , that was 32 yrs ago , nearly 3Yrs of hard restoration work saw it back on the road . My late wife and I covered nearly 50,000 miles in it , it doesn't get very much use now . I never got around to fitting it with wire wheels ,I'm now rather glad I didn't .
You can tell it lived in the USA, it's held together with Duct Tape :), If he needs a water pump for the engine I rebuild and sell them (jagvette1), the seats look like Jaguar MKII seats ?
I’ve no parts for this project but I wish you good luck it’s nice to see things like the date on the control box the , I assume, original dealers plate. At first I thought change it back to RHD but having seen the car I changed my mind and thought maybe it’s better for historical correctness to keep it as an original LHD. Either way it’s great to have a project like this where you can trace its history and go from there. I wish I had the skill to do the same!
Thanks I'll pass on your feedback to the XK's new owner, I hope to pop an update on here soon(ish) now that he's begun to get his head around the work required.
I hope your friend is reasonably young, very skilled, or has an unlimited budget. The sticker showing that it came from New York State is a worry. I googled the town and it's on Long Island. Snow and salted roads look to have taken the inevitable toll. I suppose these cars are worth so much money it's worth fixing something as bad as this. Hopefully, you can show us an update as it progresses. 🤞😊
Hmmm. Time, and money, methinks? At 11.25 is that a Steyr Pinzgauer I see parked on the left? [probably Ex-milly-terry?] There was an XK 1 summat-or-other being unloaded down at Southampton some years ago, that I witnessed. Two old lads were optimistic, even though there was more fresh air than car! Still, they had the ID plate intact!!
It does look a bit like a Steyr doesn't it, we were so busy watching to make sure nothing fell off the trailer that we didn't really notice it. Very remiss of me!! :-) Thanks for watching
I have watched a number of your videos, nice to put a face to the voice. I was nervous as to where to start (and if you cannot afford it don't ask) to big a project for me. How long will it take before you show the restored item?
Thanks for watching, I think it will take my friend a few years to get it fixed up, but he is making progress, he called in the other week and we had a chat about the XK
You're not wrong, although he's tackled very poorly cars in the past. I'm not sure that it was all that dry where it spent much of its life, the dealer sticker on the bootlid is for a company in New York so a long way away from the warm dry states over on the west coast of the USA
Yeah I'll ask him soon, I've received a few photo updates showing much of it de-rusted etc but I'd like to have another look "in the metal" myself sometime.

I'll try and pop the occasional update on but as we live some distance apart, it won't be too often. Thanks for watching!

Hi yes I read about that rare XK150 with the re-profiled front end, sold for big £, thanks for watching

Maybe a little too much pressure having the potential of a world wide audience!
I don't think he'd want to do that to be honest!
One hell of a job ahead, brave man. I hope we see more of this car as it develops.
One of the most beautiful designs ever- I had one in high school- all the other guys were into 57 Chevys. That one will be a challenge for a younger guy.
Yeah it's a fine looking car even in its current condition
Well with this one I would totally strip it down and sand blast to fire the opening salvo. Thanks to you and your mate for the video. cheers

Thanks for uploading, would love to see some occassional photos etc as work progresses. Respect to the new owner for taking this on, wish him well.

Thanks for watching, painted wires can look good but chrome I'm not keen on at all. Steel wheels also look great too.
I like them on the steel wheels.
I think this one will be staying on steel wheels, he's already sourced rear wheel spats (covers) for it

He's younger than me, just, and handy with metalworking, so I don't doubt he'll get it sorted. I've seen him tackle worse.
@@oldclassiccarUK I can appreciate the challenge involved. It's good that it can be saved. 👍

Job for the weekend ☺️😌☺️ then.
Mmm probably two weekends if I'm honest - thanks for watching!

Your friend is going to have his work cut out on this one, although I presume it's come from a dry area,so not as much rust as an original one here.

Any chance of an update on your friend's Jaguar XK120 FHC?
Yeah I'll ask him soon, I've received a few photo updates showing much of it de-rusted etc but I'd like to have another look "in the metal" myself sometime.
Someone's going to be doing a bit of welding then...
I think he has shares in mig welding supply companies :-)
Sounds like no.2 is a bit tappety.
