Overlooked Detail in Classical Portraiture

Description of the mandibular cutaneous ligament:
This ligament often lines up with the Reilly Rhythms of the face...for example the mid-cheek furrow and jaw line. The ligament keeps its place as we age and the fat pads of the face shift and migrate over and past the mandibular line. It is a very important part of the facial landscape and knowing it will help to better identify mid-tones and shapes on the portrait.
