    I love how you made this video. I am moving into this planner (it has not arrived yet) from a hobonichi cousin (A5), and I do love this layout, but have been a little stressed about the horizontal weekly section, so I am enjoying seeing how others are planning to use the weekly/daily space. I have made some mock ups, so I have 6 layouts to work with so far. Thanks for the comparison with the Sterling Ink, I have not used that one before, but it was helpful to see the comparisons of your layouts there to the Papertess.

      Wow, 6 layouts! That is impressive. Are they more like bullet journal layouts?

    This was really helpful, thank you! I already had my planner chosen for next year, and then life threw me a curve ball and I realised I needed more notes pages (and I don't cope if everything isn't in one notebook), so I bought the Chapter 25.
    I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed now, because not only do I have those extra notes pages (which are great!), but those extra yearly and quarterly pages are also giving me more choices for adding things. I'm trying to be smart and plan ahead for what I'm going to use each layout for and figure out how to structure my extra weekly notes pages, and all of this unexpected freedom is giving me too many choices, information overload and decision paralysis! 😅

      I know exactly how you feel about extra pages. Last year I had too many pages left at the end of my Sterling Ink planner and I used them for reading journaling. I enjoyed it so much that this year I have a standalone reading journal.
      This year I am planning to do more journaling, maybe try morning pages (I bought the book The Artist's Way and will try to use it to start writing and journaling more)

    This was so helpful to hear your ideas for the different parts of the planner! Thank you! I am also wanting both the vertical (for time blocking) and the horizontal (for tasks) and hadn't yet found a way to merge them together yet. I bought Just Scribbles Plans planner for 2025, her vertical option, which has extra pages similar to PaperTess and can't wait to use some of your ideas!

    I don't use monthlies either. In my 2024 Sterling Ink planner I used them to note down books, movies, TV shows, plays, museums, board games etc, but honestly I think I still prefer to do all those in a list format. And that doesn't work as well once the monthlies are collated, which in general I prefer.

    • @planning_plain
      @planning_plain  17 днів тому

      I did the same for the last couple of years, but now I am trying to make them work for me, and will use them for project or content planning. If it doesn’t work, I’ll give up and continue to use them for movies/game/etc😊

    I never knew what to do with monthlies either. Now I just jot down one thing about the day, and it works really well if I can't journal that day or need to figure out later where I was or what I did when. I have horrible memory when it comes to time, so this is quite helpful for me.

    Really good flip-through of the papertess designs planner.
    If I would be in a job which would require a lot of weekly planning I think I would probably go with a papertess planner. In my "normal" life I don't really need 7 empty pages / week, but for work purposes this could work very well that you could fit your whole week into a neat bundle. But, my job is not such that I need lots of planning or note taking which is why I have no use for it. But I do appreciate this planner any way. I wish papertess would come out with a weeks style planner. I know she has the weeks sized planner but that is so over structured I can't work with it.
    What comes to the monthly planning. Before finding hobonichi I never did anything with the monthly spreads. Mostly because the way the planners I used to use were structured like the papertess that the monthly spreads were scattered throughout the year. But when I got my first weeks and the monthly's were all together this is when I started using them. Basically I just add the main events for the months in the spread: Doctor's appointements, work gigs, holidays or any other appointment that is important and/or has a set time.
    This way if somebody asks me if I'm free on such and such date, I can see my month in a glance and I find it easier to plan ahead instead of flipping through to the right weekly layout. Now that I'm bujoing I make my months always in the beginning. This way they act also as my future planning spreads.
    Looking forwards for your setup video, if you end up doing one.

      yup. sometimes ive wanted this Papertess design too, where the months, weeks and dailies are bundled all together in a package, but that is so useless for future planning because you have to flip to other months to see what you have going on, whereas having all months, week and days "stacked" gives you a better picture of how your time is scheduled

      I am going to use each page for something different, not dailies. Meal planning/grocery list, spending tracker, workouts, Bible reading, notes/brain dump. I chose this layout since the dailies aren't dated and I can make it work for me.

    This is such a helpful video! Did you have specific reasons for choosing the Yearly over the Manager's planner? I'm in between the 2. Also did you prefer the larger size for any particular reason?

    • @planning_plain
      @planning_plain  Місяць тому

      I was looking at the Manager's notebook but I wanted more freedom and more blank pages at the end (this year I am using Sterling Ink Compact and ran out of pages). In terms of the size, I always use B6 or A5 (except for one year when I used Hobonichi weeks), because I need more detailed to-do lists, especially since I started using GTD system
