Fun fact: Freddie was originally going to return in the CGI series, but due to his basis not being on the tallylyn railway, he was never brought back, however, some merchandise depicts him with a CGI render, and Bob Golding, Stephens voice actor, was going to voice him
I would've liked it if Molly had been selected as a replacement for Edward. Not only would it have made her relevant again, but it would've also given her more potential to shine as a character. Plus, bringing back an old character would've made for good marketing, since she'll be easily recognised by old fans, and new fans will like her cause her colour stands out. Honestly, I think if I had to rewrite that era of Thomas' history, I'd keep Nia and Rebecca, but have them stationed in different areas of Sodor and have them visit the sheds like Duck, The Twins and Oliver used to do. Honestly, Rosie and Molly deserved a lot better than a sappy valentines day episode and a dump-out after having one major appearance in a season.
@@michaeltedford2947 I get where you're coming from. But Mattel wanted to balance the genders within the Steam Team. The way that they went about doing it was poorly handled at best. But I understand their reasons behnd it. Edward and Henry should've remained consistent characters even after the switchover though. But if I had to choose anyone to replace those two, it should've been Molly and Rosie.
They could've had a scene with Stanley and Ryan in "Lost Treasure". Ryan was basically another Stanley in CGI; a Thomas replacement everyone likes and making Thomas worry about his position. Maybe in a scene in the shunting yard, Ryan would meet Stanley and ask him why Thomas dislikes him. Stanley then recalled the events in Great Discovery and how Thomas acted towards him when he first came to Sodor.
That would nuke continuity from hero of the rails by referencing model stuff and hiro can’t work as the first engine on sod or unless hiro worked in a very limited space and didn’t know about Edward and Edward would not know about hiro because hiro was stuck in a siding on a different branch line that he was helping construct this could explain why sir topham hat knew that hiro was master of the railway or the great discovery can work but heavily rewritten to fit the cgi timeline.
@@snookerdooker471 First, please break up sentences so this flows better. Also, why would this nuke the CGI continuity? Where in the model series has the narrator ever said "X engine was the first engine to arrive on Sodor"? And even then, CGI HAS mentioned model series events before, it's what the CGI series is based off of. Adventure Begins basically confirmed that the CGI series is a heavily rewritten version of the model series; they literally call back events FROM the Model Series like "Down the Mine", "Come Out, Henry!", "Thomas and the Breakdown Train", and many more model series stories. Oh, and by the way, if the Model Series does nuke CGI, then Glenn just makes CGI commit seppuku.
@@GetComfyTV well first of all this show is based on the books so unless it’s a story from the classic series that is not based on a story like it seems like some stuff from the hit era seasons 8-12 did have to happen or engines just arrived off screen. Also in tale of the brave great Waterton is mentioned on a loud speaker so the great discovery. So it can be cannon to the cgi series and some model stuff can be written off as not cannon or didn’t happen and the adventure begins might have screwed cgi and model being in the same timeline even more than hiro arriving on sodor first. Also some characters from season 7-12 don’t appear in cgi excluding Emily, Rosie, rocky, whiff and Stanley.
@@snookerdooker471 References of model series episodes are made in the CGI series so possibly the events of model episodes does take place in that canon along with CGI ones regardless of a few changes and details.
I never noticed how Emily and Molly are opposite until now, and it's actually a shame they never did a duo story with them. Emily is confident and assertive while Molly is shy and unsure. Also imo Rosie and Madge are S Tier characters, love em both. Also I agree with your take on Billy. People hate on him so much, but in truth he isn't that bad considering he actually has a personality and stands out. He was clearly made to be annoying and I like that tbh.
But sadly, HiT's thoughts were: "This is how new characters should be: Introduced, faded to the background, and eventually disappear as if they never existed."
Honestly I wish they brought back Neville, Billy, Molly, Dennis, Hank, Flora, Madge, Hector, Jeremy, Freddie, and Mighty Mac back in the seasons of when Thomas and friends got to have their own voices, and like in the seasons of when they were able to bring Duck, Oliver, Oliver(the construction vehicle), Jack, Donald and Douglas the twins, and Daisy back after so many years. Neville, Molly and those other characters I wish people get to show again were great, no matter what, in my opinion. Also I wish they brought even the orange engine Murdoch back and him in the seasons of when people got bring back some old characters from episodes and years way back and with their own voices as well too.
I always wanted more tram engines on the show and Flora seems like she fit a unique bill. A shame they did nothing with her. Rosie and Molly give off major major character vibes, so the fact they both got shafted astounds me.
Judging Flora from how the episode played out (Thomas keeping Flora out of sight from Toby because he fears that he would want to bang her), she seems to be a “follow-the-rules” type of person and “don’t question your higher ranked peers” which I guess says that she’s a really respectful engine. Another personality to note is when she apologizes to Thomas, even though she wasn’t at fault. It seems like she puts a lot of blame on herself.
Madge is my personal favorite out of the bunch, although that's probably because I love cool truckings, which has another favorite character of mine in a starring role. Like, I struggle to hate any Duncan episode, so Madge probably gets a boost from that.
I like all the Hit Era characters! They may not get the spotlight they deserve but their designs are cool, and the episodes they do appear in are most of the time, some of the best in the era! The crazy thing is, things nearly turned out entirely differently for of of the Hit Era characters. Molly had a different set of faces, Dennis was supposed to come back but was replaced by Norman, There was an engine similar to Mighty Mac planned for Season 6, Billy was supposed to return but got replaced by Charlie, and i THINK Collin was also supposed to return in CGI. Even though they didn’t get a fair chance, I can’t really dislike any of them! Loved the video!
Dennis posso return with Splatter and Dodge in day of the diesels Splatter and Dodge replaced Sidney and Paxton they bed dropped with Dennis what replaced by Norman who Same class as Dennis
* I'd just like to make a case for how good a character Billy is, especially for the HiT era. * At his core, Billy is a really hard-working engine. He does any job he is assigned, without hesitation. * However, he has one major flaw. He prefers to do his work alone. He doesn't like input from others, especially when other engines boss him around and are impatient with him. He finds it difficult to work alongside others. * And this is where the genius of his character comes into play. His major pet peeve is being bossed around, but when others _do_ boss him around, he becomes impatient himself. _He_ starts bossing other engines around. * Billy is a contradiction of his own morals, and that's such a genius character idea. He will always be one of my favourite characters.
I’ve been thinking a lot about Billy lately, as he was one of my favorites during childhood (due only to his livery tho, love orange). I actually believe he would make for an amazing character, had he been provided a RWS-like arc (3-4 stories that progress the character). My head canon would need to rewrite the ending of his debut episode, but here is the jeist. We all know the big station was left without a pilot after Duck left for his branch-line, and thus, the fat controller searches for a replacement, trialing many engines (which I like to imagine as being Billy, Denis, Stanley and Rosie). Here is how the stories for Billy would work for me: 1st- the story is basically the same as Billy’s debut, but at the end, when he fails due to his messing up, he doesn’t learn his lesson, and is severely scolded by the fat controller. 2nd- The fat controller decides to give Billy a second chance, but wants to try another mentor, as Thomas clearly couldn’t cut it. Thus, he sends him to work with the much more experienced Edward. Edward tries to do some shunting with Billy, but Billy keeps messing up, and it starts to delay the timetable. Edward and his crew then ask the manager to allow Billy to take his passenger to Skarloey, while Edward stays to sort out the mess(don’t know if Ed’s branch has trains to the Skarloey, I believe it doesn’t, but let’s say it’s a special occasion). Billy takes the passangers, but arrives late, and the passengers complain a lot. Hearing this, Skarloey tries to talk some sense into Billy, but it’s worth nothing, and the old engine gives up, not wanting to cause further problems. That night, after knowing about Billy’s missteps filled day, the fat controller says he is sending Billy away next day, and Edward sees the whole thing. Also that night, Edward tries to talk to Billy, to try and understand why he refuses to listen to others, and Billy explains that he was very neglected in his old railway, messing up rather frequently, but having no one to teach him to do better, while having the bigger engines always ordering him about and belittling him. This caused him to be much more self centered, not taking in anything anyone says to him. After a heart to heart, Edward says he will try to talk to the fat controller, but insists on having Billy listen to him, and try to learn honestly. Next morning Ed puts in the good word for Billy, and the fat controller decides to give him one last chance. 3rd-Billy now genuinely tries to do his work right, and after a few days, gets much, much better overall, and more experienced. In his final day of trial, he is working well, and goes to a siding for a drink and a rest. That’s when Edward arrives with a train. He then needs to get back to the yard, and for that, he has to cross the main line, but fails, and stops right in the middle of the tracks, just when the express is due. Billy rushes to the action, and saves Edward just in time, clearing the line for Gordon. That day, the fat controller praises him, and announces that after some consideration, he has decided that Billy would be the next big station pilot. I believe this would serve Billy well, and his no nonsense attitude would be great when dealing with the big engines. These stories would justify (I think) Billy’s attitude, and allow him to become much more mature in the end. If anyone read it to this point, pls let me know if you liked these concepts. + the other engines in trial would naturally not be sent away, rather being assigned jobs at other parts of the island, so let me know what would you do with these characters in this context.
Amazing video! I really enjoyed you talking about all of the Hit Era Newbies! If I was to use Tiermaker. My list would be this (Totally different but slightly the same): A: Molly, Hank, Denis, Whiff, Rocky, Madge. B: Neville, Rosie, Jeremy, Stanley, Freddy. C: Billy, Mighty Mac, Hector. D: Flora, Colin.
A little fact: Sidney, Norman and Paxton almost didn’t exist for Day of the Diesels. Splatter would’ve taken Sidney’s place, and Dodge would’ve taken Paxton’s place. But guess who would’ve taken Norman’s place? Dennis! Edit: nvm he already mentioned it 😂
i loved madge almost entirely due to her function as a toy. i never cared about her episodes all that much, but she played a part in nearly all of my wooden railway “stories”.
in my opinion Rosie was a character who went from some side character to a recurring character, I love how the creators decided to give Thomas a Female Foil, unlike Dennis or Billy who were replaced with bland but decent characters, Rosie is one of the few characters who existed in the Hit Era Season and the CGI season, although her redesign is passable, I can't say I like it, I feel like giving her red paint and maturing her kind off ruined her whole deal, she started out as this energetic, tomboyish foil to another Emily, I say that kind of development should've been given to an annoying character who needs it, like Charlie, I certainly feel like she deserved so much more than what she got, as she never had a real introduction or given a reason for being repainted.
I kinda believe that AEGs version of Whiff is inspired by how Victor Tanzig established him in his series, especially the shorts. He's an inventor there
Dont ask why but i counted every time Stanley appeared in the series and it ended up at 46 times, including 9 movies And the only interesting thing aside from TGD with him is that he was the engine in the Flatbeds of Fear story Salty tells the others
What they needed to understand was that if you're gonna make a character for merch, you don't need to abandon them once you've got the toys on store shelves, if someone hasn't seen the one episode they appear in, they're not going to buy a toy of that character, and generally kids are going to want to see the character in the show more if they have a toy of them, they really had no reason to not use these lads more
I'm probably gonna get shot for this, but... I actually like Billy, since although he was seen as S1 Thomas 2.0, he is kinda relatable to me when my sister acts like my mom. Also, he looks pretty cute.
MOHAMMED GEEDI: In my personal opinion, here is my list of voice actors for all of the minor Thomas characters from the HiT Era when they get proper reintroductions. For example, we have.... #01: Bryn McAuley as Molly (Suzi from Camp Lakebottom) #02: Carter Hayden as Neville (Buttsquat from Camp Lakebottom) #03: Bill Fagerbakke as Dennis (Patrick Star from SpongeBob SquarePants) #04: Vincent Tong as Jeremy (Muck's US voice from the 2015 Bob the Builder reboot) #05: Max Casella as Mighty (Tip from The Little Mermaid II: Return to the Sea) #06: Stephen Furst as Mac (Dash from The Little Mermaid II: Return to the Sea) #07: Alyson Court as Madge (Similar to Poodle but more kind and motherly) #08: Brian Cox as Billy (Conrad from Bob the Builder: Mega Machines) #09: John Goodman as Hank (Pacha from The Emperor's New Groove) #10: Andrea Libman as Flora (Human Fluttershy from MLP: Equestria Girls) #11: Cam Clarke as Colin (Simba from Disney's House of Mouse) #12: Kenneth Mars as Proteus (If he had a major role in a episode) #13: Dave Foley as Hector (Flik the Blue Ant from A Bug's Life) #14: Ty Olsson as Buster (Stan from Nerds and Monsters) #15: Steve Cannon as Nelson (Phillip's voice from the 2015 Bob the Builder reboot) #16: Kerry Shale as Patrick (Similar to his James impression but more smug and vain) #17: Rob Paulsen as Ned (P.J. from A Goofy Movie) #18: Alan Marriott as Byron (Scoop's US voice from Seasons 1-16 of BTB) #19: Jules De Jongh as Isabella (Similar to her Emily impression but more kind) #20: William Hope as Kelly (Similar to his Edward impression but more wise) [But I respect your opinions if you don't like the US dub]
MOHAMMED GEEDI: Okay, now here is my list of voice actors for the other HiT Era Thomas characters that already returned in full CGI in my opinion - #21: William Dufris as Rocky (Farmer Pickles' US voice from Seasons 1-9 of BTB) #22: Melissa Altro as Rosie (Similar to her Gretchen impression but more cute) #23: Alan Marriott as Whiff (Spud's US voice from Season 1 to Season 9 of BTB) #24: Scott McCord as Stanley (Similar to his McGee impression but more kind)
My cast choice for some characters are Rob Rackstraw as BoCo in his Mr. Bentley's voice UK dub from the original Bob the Builder, whomever sounds like SliverBand7 as Diesel 10 since he give a great performance to him, combining his brutish and aggressive trait and his CGI portrayal together, Bob Golding as Ned since his Sidney voice would be perfect for a dumb but lovable character, whomever can has a Irish accent or can do one as Patrick the cement mixer like John Schwab in his Mainland Diesel voice or Robin Atkin Downes so far, Andrea Libman as Molly with her Fluttershy voice which would suit her since she's a shy character herself, Maggie Ollerenshaw as Caroline, Tegwen Tucker as Elizabeth in her Mrs. Chen voice, Lucy Montgomery as Madge, Robert Wilfort as Murdoch with Scottish accent, Matt Wilkinson and Tom Stourton as Mighty Mac, Robert Wilfort as Buster, Neil Morrissey as Bear in his UK Bob or Roley voice, Colin McFarlane as Byron in his Harrison voice UK dub from Chuggington, Andy Nyman as Derek, David Carling as Kelly in his Trevor Evans UK voice with a Irish accent, whomever can sound like a grouchy and ruthless brute as George, Andrew Francis as Nelson in his Shining Armour voice, Kerry Shale as Neville, Rob Rackstraw as Hank in a Southern or western accent and Jeremy Irons and Kelsey Grammer as Dudley in his Scar voice in UK and Stinky Pete's voice in US.
Great job with this video. They're are some points I do disagree with, but overall, this was a really good video describing and ranking the HIT era newbies. Well done!!.
When I told my mum that Rosie was now red and she said: What?! No she’s supposed to be pink, Rosie pink. Yeah she shares my fondness for Thomas as well
To me, Madge and hector are the best HIT era newbies. There’s some energy in them that make them feel like classic series characters in my opinion. I love them and they should have been brought for CGI
I kinda think those characters toys would of sold better if they where featured more rather than just one episode. If I had my Way I would: 1. Molly would be bought by the Duke and Duchess of Boxford as a Second Private Engine alongside Spencer. 2. Neville would be a Goods engine working more east of Sodor and I would pair him with Rebecca (Both being SR Engines). 3. Have Dennis work with the Diesels and just have him instead of Norman (Since Norman was barely used anyway). 4. Still have Mighty Mac Relevant with the Skarloey Railway (aswell having more CGI NG episodes not just stuck in BMQ). 5. Make Rosie a Main character and Instead of Nia being introduced have Rosie come into the main cast. 6. Have Freddie work at Ulfstead Castle sometimes pairing him with Stephen, Millie and Glynn. 7. Mabey Still have Jeremy. 8. Have Edward Strikes Out about James Instead. 9. Mabey Still have Billy (Perhaps pairing him with Charlie). 10. Still have Hector. 11. Have Madge go around Sodor and mabey have her work for the Steamworks with Victor and Kevin. 12. Still have Stanley and give him more Focus (Mabey Replace Thomas in Stories as he appears to often). 13. Have Hank meet Hiro and see how they could have friction 14. Keep Flora at Great Waterton and mabey give her relationships with Daisy, Mavis or even Rosie. 15. Bring the Wharf back and Colin and give him more Character.
I always thought they could've done more with Billy considering he was a Manning Wardle. since Edward's branch back before the NWR formed had it's own engines with some of them being Manning Wardles. Him and Charlie both could've been from that railway but they didn't think of that and I find that slightly disappointing.
This is nothing but fair takes. Personally I think both Rocky and Neville deserved to be higher on the list; with Neville though I think me and many others are just amazed at both his basis and livery, he’s strikingly one of the most realistic looking of this era’s new characters. Rocky to me is just so neatly inoffensive and personally I don’t take issue with his lack of character. Mighty Mac’s terse dynamic is so cool, surprised more people don’t like them. This video in-part also got me to re-examine Billy and I don’t hate him as much anymore.
Neville is an interesting one. I liked him as a kid but i've grown to think he is bland but cool. If you look at the wooden railway description of him, i think it says he dosen't hold a grudge, so i think he coulda replaced percy in Day of the diesels, because he wouldn't hold a grudge against the diesels and would comply only if their plan didnt involve hurting his friend, Thomas. (Also Molly shoulda replaced Rebecca in the BWBA era)
Mr Asodorman i’m quite disappointed that Stanley the goat didn’t make S tier but still you have provided a meaningful analysis of minor characters from the series and portrayed it in a fun way that’s enjoyable every watch through
Great Ranking Video My Top 10 Favorites New Hit Era Characters Season 8 To 12 1. Neville (My Honourable Mentions: Billy, Rocky, Stanley, Flora & Proteus) 2. Molly 3. Dennis 4. Hector 5. Whiff 6. Mighty Mac 7. Madge 8. Rosie 9. Freddie 10. Hank
Rosie is my personal favorite out of all of theses characters because her basis is my favorite class of tank engine (I'm a huge fan of WWII era US Army steam).
Freddie is just the model series's attempt at bringing back, or reference the Culdee Fell fleet. Idk, just seems right. And Hank is one of my favorite Thomas characters of all time!c 9.5/10
I like almost all of them Heres is My ranking : 19: Scrap Engine Reason: is barely a character and appears in a flashback scene in series 8 18:Colin Reason: Blank Slate 17:Jermy Reason: boring is really only there to spite Thomas 16:Billy Reason: annoying but has some potential 15:Proteus Reason: Like the scrap engine he only appears in a flashback scene but that gives the potential for people to craft their cannon for him 14:Mighty Mac Reason: Little Giant might have been better 13:Flora Reason: POTENTIAL WASTED 12:Hank Reason: Has potential since he is the first American Sodor locomotive we've seen in the series for far 11:Madge: Reason: is a nice motherly figure for the narrow gauge engines and wishes she returned in CGI 10:Freddie Reason: the one time the Hit era tried expanding the Sodor lure was kind of wasted but their interaction with Skarloey and Rheneas was cool 9:Stanley Reason: Had potential in the great discovery but when the switch to CGI happened they just made him a Blank Slate 8:Hector Reason: was and still is the biggest Thomas truck we've seen in the show shame we've never seen him after James sorts it out from series 12 7:Rocky Reason: definitely felt like he replaced the Breakdown crane when he was introduced thought they brought them back in series 19 6:Dennis Reason: even though in the CGI series Norman replaced him In DOTD I like him more since he has the potential storylines people could do 5:Molly Reason: should have been in series 22 no more questions asked 4:Rosie Reason: great character and should have been in series 22 as well 3:Neville Reason: a character with serious potential and an engine that looks like a diesel would make for such a good storyline 2:Mr Percival Reason: I really like this character because this was the first time they adapted a character from the books 1:Whiff Reason: my all-time favorite hit era character, Whiff really like his design and how oblivious he is
I've always loved the designs of mighty Mac and Dennis. Just love the engine designs. I also like how they Introduced madge as the narrow gauge engines always had issues with roads. Also I love Hector but I have a soft spot for cars I suppose
If they brought Flora back for season 22 she could have had Toby's line in the new engine roll call song. Then the steam team would be four guys and four girls and the introduction of the members would be this. Thomas, he's the cheeky one. Rebecca, she's new and lots of fun. Percy pulls the mail on time. Gordon thunders down the line. Emily really knows her stuff. James is always showing off. Nia wants to help and share. Flora, well let's say she's square.
I'm sure the fandom wouldn't be AS upset if Molly replaced Edward at Tidmouth and not the pile of junk we got instead... I can't even remember her name she's so forgettable.
S - Mr. Percival, Hector, Rosie, Dennis, Whiff, Rocky A - Madge, Stanley, Freddie, Mighty Mac C - Molly, Neville D - Jeremy F - Flora, Colin, Hank, Billy
Celeste music in a Thomas video fits way better than I thought it would, especially as it's with Neville, the HiT era character I remember the most for some reason
My ranking with kinda reasons 01 - Madge, she's fun, has a great design, her stories were interesting and had a large potential to be in CGI 02 - Molly, she's definitely serves a good contrast to the other characters and fits Toby's and Henry's modern persona better. Defo should have been a MC. 03 - Billy, i actually liked him in concept, he had a great design although his story was boring. 04 - Mighty and Mac, Another great concept though underused towards later series 05 - Freddie - I love how his paint contrasts the other much brighter characters and a good contrast to duke who's old but acts it. Hate how they kinda had to ruin S + R to do this 06 - Hank, he's a good character and had potential to return to work alongside Hero and Henry. The H team i suppose 07 - Flora, if written properly her character could have had an arch with Toby. 08 - Dennis, underused but definitely relatable 09 - Stanley, another underused character, but his fesign is nice. Should have had a larger role in CGI 10 - Neville, he's meh to me 11 - Whiff, he's okay but there's only so much you can do with him 12 - Rocky, he was grounded but never really developed outside of being a crane 13 - Rosie, her episodes were kinda bad and she wasn't written that well, and it wasn't explained why she was repainted (that is a story in itself usually) 14 - Proteus, he's fine 15 - Colin, he wasn't great sorry 16 - Jeremy, another poorly written character 17 - Hector, they couldn't even decide on an accent or personality, this proves they didn't know what to do with him.
It really feels unfair to call these characters as soulless cashgrab characters because there is so much potential behind most of them. Billy, I'm glad he's a one-off (sorry, but I get he is meant to be an annoying character, but I still find him hard to buy at all), Freddie was okay, Proteus, he's meh. Hell, the ones that are not the ones present after Seasons 9-12 like Rosie, Rocky, Whiff, Mr. Percival, and Stanley could have been popular characters like Molly, Neville, Dennis, Hector, Mighty Mac, and Madge given the fact they do have potential to be given more than one or two stories to be focuses on. Thomas was shown as a role model to Molly, Mighty Mac and Dennis, Madge is like a motherly figure to the Skarloey engines, Thomas understood Hector and helps him overcome his fear of going under the coal hopper, and Neville is a character that didn't get a whole lot to do much to my sympathy, had HiT not made the stupid decision to give them little focus or attention in their stories at all. I know popularity is not everything. But I still stand by with what I am saying because it does not feel fair to label most of the characters introduced from Seasons 9-12 as "bad" because they're not, nor are they even pointless or soulless ones at all.
Ima sound stupid for saying this but i wish we got more of a backstory on proteus. I mean he is the magic enginenof the skarloey railway and i think him and sirhandel possibly could have had a backstory.
Honestly they should’ve done more with Nevel and Murdoch Given the history of the BR 9F's and Bullied Q1's Plus molly should’ve been the one to take Edward’s Place as it would build more on her character in the series
Certainly an underused but colorful cast. And yeah, I'd also consider 7 to be more Classic than Hit. Character Gallery currently covered Mighty Mac, Hank, Hector, Madge, and Molly - some darn good ideas in that. Molly certainly does ring in 'main' with the red boiler bands, and compared to the others, she had numerous mainline passing cameos. Mighty Mac had a nice concept in their debut, if only I could settle a number for them... Dennis managed to get a personality driven story and sorta got a brother when he didn't irl. I feel like you could still have the rumor continue even if you made Edward his true self, like Percy being unsure and spreads it anyway. His basis, along with the 'ugly duckling' could also make for wartime PTSD. My main doubt on the basis dynamic, would be Thomas leaving the year he was built. Haven't really favored her red over the lavender, but still a shame her reintroduction went to waste. Jeremy might be better off talking with Gordon... Not much to say on Rocky. Freddie being 7 is messy, but for me so is Ivo being #7 almost 30 years after Duke joined. Whiff having glasses is interesting. Billy getting annoyed with Charlie could be something... Madge could likely be seen as most tolerable, and giving the SkR a road friend was a great move. And of the few Miller era girls, she stands out for being a road vehicle. Not much to say on Hector either... Stanley, yeah - unfortunately bland. Hank could be interesting with the Big 3, but the C was warranted there. I heard Flora might have road wheels, and the coach looks interesting, but yeah. From Isobella, Molly, Flora, to Carly, Rebecca, Darcy, they had a weird thing for yellow girls. Rosie the closest to a purple one, which even then didn't last.
22:38 that’s litterly all Flora is, "A New Engine", and… That’s about it, she has no character, no purpose, no proper dialogue, she’s just, their. And that’s why she’s my least favorite hit era newbie
(edit) heres my ranking of the hit era characters: (1)molly (2)stanley (3)mightymac (4)neville (5)billy (6)flora (7)dennis (8)hank (9)hector (10)freddie (11)whiff (12)rosie (13)rocky (14)madge (15)proteus (16)colin (17)jeremy (let it be known that i don't necessarily hate any these and i cut them some slack)
Fun fact: Freddie was originally going to return in the CGI series, but due to his basis not being on the tallylyn railway, he was never brought back, however, some merchandise depicts him with a CGI render, and Bob Golding, Stephens voice actor, was going to voice him
Mattel actually somehow like Freddie !
Does that Explain why freddie was Updated in Mattels Merchandise around 2013 - 15.
Yup
He actually was going to be added in the movie “Blue Mountain Mystery” sharing his first appearance with majority of the narrow gauge engines.
@@tsoiyumanthomas3291 it was HiT not Mattel
It baffles me that they made Rebecca, just so she would be part of the main cast, WHEN MOLLY WAS RIGHT THERE
But knowing what bwba was, she would have been neat but at the same time, doomed in the wrong hands
And it would have fixed the gender gap at the time as well
I would have disliked Molly more. 1 reason I HATE NIA is because she replaced Edward. MY FAVORITE CHARACTER
Plus, Molly and Edward both have a 4-4-0 wheel configuration

@@snookerdooker471 Referencing model episodes in the CGI series never nuke continuity.
I wish they did more with Neville, such a unique character design.
But sadly, HiT's thoughts were: "This is how new characters should be: Introduced, faded to the background, and eventually disappear as if they never existed."
If they did more with the new characters, the show probably would have lasted longer.
Yes! I look at nevilles class and go "Yeah, they're funky looking, I like that."
Neville only exists for profit apparently.
I also liked Molly.
On an unrelated note I keep thinking of the "Unmatched Power of the Sun" meme every time I hear the name "Silly Billy".
1:09 actually this problem started in season 5. Some of the characters from said season didn’t even speak.
Fun fact: she has a bell that was originally going to be used for Lady
I can imagine with that personality, she Duck and Fergus would get along well
Guess most of us didn't know that but expanding on her character would help it be tolerable and great.
Loved the video!
me too
also colin was supposed to return in king of the railway. plus hank & boco were meant to return in season 22.
NO MORE SH*TTY REBOOTS! we want to go back in the hit era!
Dennis posso return with Splatter and Dodge in day of the diesels
Splatter and Dodge replaced Sidney and Paxton they bed dropped with Dennis what replaced by Norman who Same class as Dennis
Here is how the stories for Billy would work for me:
1st- the story is basically the same as Billy’s debut, but at the end, when he fails due to his messing up, he doesn’t learn his lesson, and is severely scolded by the fat controller.
My list would be this (Totally different but slightly the same):
A: Molly, Hank, Denis, Whiff, Rocky, Madge.
Dennis!
Edit: nvm he already mentioned it 😂
i loved madge almost entirely due to her function as a toy. i never cared about her episodes all that much, but she played a part in nearly all of my wooden railway “stories”.
for Jeremy story potential, I think he and Harold should have an air race together.
I also think Jeremy and Gordon should have had an episode
@@Avery_Productions Oh good idea.
in my opinion Rosie was a character who went from some side character to a recurring character, I love how the creators decided to give Thomas a Female Foil, unlike Dennis or Billy who were replaced with bland but decent characters, Rosie is one of the few characters who existed in the Hit Era Season and the CGI season, although her redesign is passable, I can't say I like it, I feel like giving her red paint and maturing her kind off ruined her whole deal, she started out as this energetic, tomboyish foil to another Emily, I say that kind of development should've been given to an annoying character who needs it, like Charlie, I certainly feel like she deserved so much more than what she got, as she never had a real introduction or given a reason for being repainted.
your right! but... Rosie first appired after my death 10:26
If Hank return in CGI, there would be a episode of him and Philip since their basis comes from Pennsylvania. Perfect dynamic

And the only interesting thing aside from TGD with him is that he was the engine in the Flatbeds of Fear story Salty tells the others
If the likes of Rocky or Freddie don't make A at least, I'll be sad lol
What they needed to understand was that if you're gonna make a character for merch, you don't need to abandon them once you've got the toys on store shelves, if someone hasn't seen the one episode they appear in, they're not going to buy a toy of that character, and generally kids are going to want to see the character in the show more if they have a toy of them, they really had no reason to not use these lads more
I'm probably gonna get shot for this, but...
I actually like Billy, since although he was seen as S1 Thomas 2.0, he is kinda relatable to me when my sister acts like my mom. Also, he looks pretty cute.
MOHAMMED GEEDI:
In my personal opinion,
here is my list of voice actors for all of the minor Thomas characters from the HiT Era when they get proper reintroductions.
For example, we have....
#01: Bryn McAuley as Molly (Suzi from Camp Lakebottom)
#02: Carter Hayden as Neville (Buttsquat from Camp Lakebottom)
#03: Bill Fagerbakke as Dennis (Patrick Star from SpongeBob SquarePants)
#04: Vincent Tong as Jeremy (Muck's US voice from the 2015 Bob the Builder reboot)
#05: Max Casella as Mighty (Tip from The Little Mermaid II: Return to the Sea)
#06: Stephen Furst as Mac (Dash from The Little Mermaid II: Return to the Sea)
#07: Alyson Court as Madge (Similar to Poodle but more kind and motherly)
#08: Brian Cox as Billy (Conrad from Bob the Builder: Mega Machines)
#09: John Goodman as Hank (Pacha from The Emperor's New Groove)
#10: Andrea Libman as Flora (Human Fluttershy from MLP: Equestria Girls)
#11: Cam Clarke as Colin (Simba from Disney's House of Mouse)
#12: Kenneth Mars as Proteus (If he had a major role in a episode)
#13: Dave Foley as Hector (Flik the Blue Ant from A Bug's Life)
#14: Ty Olsson as Buster (Stan from Nerds and Monsters)
#15: Steve Cannon as Nelson (Phillip's voice from the 2015 Bob the Builder reboot)
#16: Kerry Shale as Patrick (Similar to his James impression but more smug and vain)
#17: Rob Paulsen as Ned (P.J. from A Goofy Movie)
#18: Alan Marriott as Byron (Scoop's US voice from Seasons 1-16 of BTB)
#19: Jules De Jongh as Isabella (Similar to her Emily impression but more kind)
#20: William Hope as Kelly (Similar to his Edward impression but more wise)
[But I respect your opinions if you don't like the US dub]
MOHAMMED GEEDI: Okay, now here is my list of voice actors for the other HiT Era Thomas characters that already returned in full CGI in my opinion -
#21: William Dufris as Rocky (Farmer Pickles' US voice from Seasons 1-9 of BTB)
#22: Melissa Altro as Rosie (Similar to her Gretchen impression but more cute)
#23: Alan Marriott as Whiff (Spud's US voice from Season 1 to Season 9 of BTB)
#24: Scott McCord as Stanley (Similar to his McGee impression but more kind)
Perhaps a episode of Dennis and Daisy can do since Daisy used to be lazy herself and thus a perfect engine to teach Dennis a thing or two.
If those characters appear during the Brenner era, it would have made them into better characters as it did with characters from Series 13 to 16.
Great job with this video. They're are some points I do disagree with, but overall, this was a really good video describing and ranking the HIT era newbies. Well done!!.
Really interesting and good ranking of the Hit era newbies.
Molly is literally the total drama dawn (TD revenge of the island) of Thomas and friends
When I told my mum that Rosie was now red and she said: What?! No she’s supposed to be pink, Rosie pink.
Yeah she shares my fondness for Thomas as well
16:37 I wasn’t expecting Maiden Voyage to play. Very nice music choice
To me, Madge and hector are the best HIT era newbies. There’s some energy in them that make them feel like classic series characters in my opinion. I love them and they should have been brought for CGI
Neville is one of my favorite exa character cuz I can really relate to him and not just because of his design.i would give him a A+
Molly is one of my favorite characters because her personality matches mine
I had a generic pink Steam Engine Toy that looked much like Rosie, minus face.
I kinda think those characters toys would of sold better if they where featured more rather than just one episode.
If I had my Way I would:
13. Have Hank meet Hiro and see how they could have friction
I think that both Rosie & Stanley are BOTH in S Tier.
I WANTED A VIDEO LIKE THIS FOR AGES!!!
Here’s the thing with Neville: He had no potential in the original series, so he has infinite potential in the fandom
I wish Stanley was built up more in cgi.
Also basically, Rosie is the Amy Rose to Thomas’s Sonic.
3:51 the ONLY thomas character that I probably legit had a crush on...
perhaps it was her shy demeanor that I identified with at the time...
Great ranking! My favourite HiT new character is Rosie
Same, Neville was my favorite engine when I younger. I still like him, just not AS much as before
fun times
Yes sir
I think Neville would make a great Emo character.
Mr Asodorman i’m quite disappointed that Stanley the goat didn’t make S tier but still you have provided a meaningful analysis of minor characters from the series and portrayed it in a fun way that’s enjoyable every watch through
I will be so sad if Hank isn’t A tier, he was my favorite for a while, and I was upset when he really didn’t appear any more

19: Scrap Engine Reason: is barely a character and appears in a flashback scene in series 8
18:Colin Reason: Blank Slate
17:Jermy Reason: boring is really only there to spite Thomas
16:Billy Reason: annoying but has some potential
15:Proteus Reason: Like the scrap engine he only appears in a flashback scene but that gives the potential for people to craft their cannon for him
14:Mighty Mac Reason: Little Giant might have been better
13:Flora Reason: POTENTIAL WASTED
12:Hank Reason: Has potential since he is the first American Sodor locomotive we've seen in the series for far
11:Madge: Reason: is a nice motherly figure for the narrow gauge engines and wishes she returned in CGI
10:Freddie Reason: the one time the Hit era tried expanding the Sodor lure was kind of wasted but their interaction with Skarloey and Rheneas was cool
9:Stanley Reason: Had potential in the great discovery but when the switch to CGI happened they just made him a Blank Slate
8:Hector Reason: was and still is the biggest Thomas truck we've seen in the show shame we've never seen him after James sorts it out from series 12
7:Rocky Reason: definitely felt like he replaced the Breakdown crane when he was introduced thought they brought them back in series 19
6:Dennis Reason: even though in the CGI series Norman replaced him In DOTD I like him more since he has the potential storylines people could do
5:Molly Reason: should have been in series 22 no more questions asked
4:Rosie Reason: great character and should have been in series 22 as well
3:Neville Reason: a character with serious potential and an engine that looks like a diesel would make for such a good storyline
2:Mr Percival Reason: I really like this character because this was the first time they adapted a character from the books
1:Whiff Reason: my all-time favorite hit era character, Whiff really like his design and how oblivious he is
11:56 Jeremy has a design of a McDonnel Douglas MD-80
S - Mr. Percival, Hector, Rosie, Dennis, Whiff, Rocky
A - Madge, Stanley, Freddie, Mighty Mac
C - Molly, Neville
D - Jeremy
F - Flora, Colin, Hank, Billy

Can you do the Sharon miller characters ranking
In the magazines, Hank kind of looks like Hank Hill.
My ranking with kinda reasons
01 - Madge, she's fun, has a great design, her stories were interesting and had a large potential to be in CGI
02 - Molly, she's definitely serves a good contrast to the other characters and fits Toby's and Henry's modern persona better. Defo should have been a MC.
03 - Billy, i actually liked him in concept, he had a great design although his story was boring.
04 - Mighty and Mac, Another great concept though underused towards later series
05 - Freddie - I love how his paint contrasts the other much brighter characters and a good contrast to duke who's old but acts it. Hate how they kinda had to ruin S + R to do this
06 - Hank, he's a good character and had potential to return to work alongside Hero and Henry. The H team i suppose
07 - Flora, if written properly her character could have had an arch with Toby.
08 - Dennis, underused but definitely relatable
09 - Stanley, another underused character, but his fesign is nice. Should have had a larger role in CGI
10 - Neville, he's meh to me
11 - Whiff, he's okay but there's only so much you can do with him
12 - Rocky, he was grounded but never really developed outside of being a crane
13 - Rosie, her episodes were kinda bad and she wasn't written that well, and it wasn't explained why she was repainted (that is a story in itself usually)
14 - Proteus, he's fine
15 - Colin, he wasn't great sorry
16 - Jeremy, another poorly written character
17 - Hector, they couldn't even decide on an accent or personality, this proves they didn't know what to do with him.

I honestly like what he had to say about Whiff Billy and Madge best.
There should of been a Neville episode called "ugly duckling"
Seeing Thomas models with that Sims 1 Build music gives me big nostalgia.
I like too think that billy would be like Eric cartman his "authority".

I like Molly to. It would be nice if she appeared in cgi. 😊😊😊😊😂😅😂😅❤❤🎉🎉
unlucky tug recently said she a neville are nothing characters.
New series characters are hit or miss.
If I wrote Neville I would've made him a fun uncle sort of character someone who's fascinated with technology or architecture
17:04 what’s wrong with being painted orange or having buckteeth
those arent usually traits that make up ones favorite chatacter, now are they
22:38 that’s litterly all Flora is, "A New Engine", and…
That’s about it, she has no character, no purpose, no proper dialogue, she’s just, their. And that’s why she’s my least favorite hit era newbie
I don't even remember Stanley because he was mostly a background character
2:10 Yes, that is true. Amazing story.
Ya need to do a similar ranking for the Brenner newbies
I find it funny how Whiff that was the only hit Era to still be relevant in AEG and how Whiff works with trash
