      @@thomashill3457 either they are behind schedule/over budget. or they are doing some fancy shit with concrete. Many people dont know that concrete continues to gain strength after its "dry", and the older it is, the stronger it is. sometimes it can take months for parts of a structure to be strong enough to add more to it. in the case of bridge pillars etc. Often times you will see pillars poured half a year before any of the decking starts to go on. These timings are carefully tested in labs, where they keep samples from every batch of concrete used in a project construction and test them at intervals to know for sure when the next phase can proceed. god forbid the samples fail the spec after the prescribed time... then lawyers get involved and it gets really messy =)

    • @thomashill3457
      @thomashill3457 5 років тому

      @@fakiirification lol there isn't to many fancy things you can do with concrete. The pillars you talk about are either piles that have been driven in the ground with a pile driving rig or formed from half round column forms and we don't half fill them. Ounce we start pouring concrete we don't stop unless you have a major problem. For a bridges most cylinders get tested 7 to 10 days after you pour the concrete and they are kept in the same conditions or outside so the test is more accurate there is no need for lawyers if the test samples were to fail you can wait up to 30 days before you ask for another cylinder to be tested. If it still doesn't pass the test the concrete supplier would more than likely get the bill because they didn't sale you the right mix .we would pour 2 concrete sections of bridge a week over the water on land those guys were doing 3 hope that helps
