I am very very proud to say I have his book . He signed it for me . That was may 14th 2005 . The book ‘painting with DAVID SHEPHERD ‘ is my bible ! ! Gréât great great book! Loads of tips on techniques etc ! He is my mentor! Big big respect for him ! The best inspiration is when he said you don’t need talent ,just determination ! I’m very very glad to say he was right!
I had just got this job in Guildford, Surrey in 1969. I am a refrigeration Tech. I got to go to this home in Godalming. It was a wine cooler not working. After determining the cause, fixed it. I then asked the owner for a signature on my worksheet. He signed it and on looking at the signature recognized it as David Shepard. We became more friendly and being a fan of David's collection, enquired about that pride of lions he had painted at Amboseli. I had installed the cold rooms at Amboseli. He had the Zebra one entitled Storm over Amboseli. I did not have money on me and I turned him down. Many years later, My Mum emigrated to Canada, and guess what? She brought with her the very same painting that I missed out ! Que sera, sera!
