This set is the perfect candidate for RC modifications. I mean, they gave you a spot to put the battery box! And there is so much open space to fill with motors. Also, the manual door prices are great for access and so is the fact that the entire back if the car opens. The steering is great for a servo as well. The cockpit is a great place for IR receiver, and there is easy acces there as well. What's so great is that you can fit all of the stuff in the back part of the car, and just have that open up for easy maintenance. Also, built in lights are amazing! I love Lego for giving us such a cool base for a sweet RC car. And, as always, great review Sariel:)
I've bought it yesterday. The set is amazing. Impressive huge with beautiful design and many useful pieces. It's a fun to build too. I've made my decision to buy it because of your video Sariel. Thank you
The preliminary design had a much better design for the headlights IMO. It looked closer to a Pagani Zonda or something of that kin originally, but someone at lego though it was a great idea to make it look like it had it's faced smashed into a wall and give it a swollen lower lip.
Sariel's LEGO Technic Den use a minute of you time I need a little help Is the black extension wire (the one that was with the rc buggy motor set) compatible with the pf ir receiver? I have 4 sets and I dont know if I have too buy the newer ones
Genialne! Zmotoryzowane są funkcje, za które w rzeczywistości odpowiadają ręce mechaników...Czasami mam wrażenie, że z Technic warte uwagi są tylko flagowce i niektóre małe zestawy, a to co pomiędzy zawodzi.
instantly one of my favorites. I got mine, your video helped alot, I revised the single 13M beam at the back that you mentioned just destroys the smooth line of the set. its still a great set for the money spent.
I think you're lucky to get an extra bevel 12 gear. Usually you don't get extra ones of them. It's good because once [this actually happened to me yesterday] a 12t bevel snapped apart in a differential on me.
ive already seen this review and got this set already, but i dont know why i keep on watching this review xD. im proud to have this set. every penny spent is worth-it
Well i think this car is for people who dont like the technic bugatti chiron and porsche. Also people will like this car because of HOG steering this car have.
HEY SARIEL!!! Nice vid man...can't wait for these sets to come out. Do you have any idea of the release dates??? Cuz I really want one for Christmas ya know??? Just want to know if they'll be out by then. Anyways, thanks for the vid, always puts a smile on my face to see a 1 next to your name in my subscriber box!!! :D
Hey Sariel Thank you very much for the review! I like it that Lego puts the new suspension pieces/wheel hubs in nearly every set.:D Is the new green a completely new Lego colour? Or was it already used in other non-technic sets?
I just want to ask you a question about what I should buy first. Should i buy the artic truck first or the 24 hour racer first because I like the artic truck better than the 24 hour racer but I'm just afraid that the 24 hour racer will be out of stock once I save up for it because you know, everyone loves it and they will all aim for it first. WHAT SHOULD I BUY FIRST! For short.
ADE SUN but still I didn't risk getting rid of the winch conection so I found another way to put the motor but it dosn't use a l motor it uses a xl motor
Got this one instead of Porsche... rest of $200 was spent on VW Beetle and VW Van... Modification wise, I think this one is far more suitable than Porsche where you most likely sacrifice transmissions and engine part. If they release Porsche GT3 with proper steering (including the rear wheel steering) and compact gear set, I'll get one but not this round unless I manage overbudget myself.
This is totally unrelated: Could you make a Need for Speed Hot Pusuit set? For the cop car, you could use Mindstorms ultrasonic sensor for a speed gun, and for the EMP, a remote set at the same channel as a receiver that would turn off the battery box in the Racer, and spike strips. Sirens and top red / blue lights would be nice. The Racer would have EMP too, along with spikes, but would have Turbo via another motor engaging and interchangeable body frames. The EMP remote could be enclosed on three sides so as to make the shooter have to aim, for more realism. I don't have near the amount of pieces or Power Functions like you do, so I can't make it. Sound cool?
doors are only the part that opens with the mechanism, the part that u lifted manualy is just bodywork. all the closed cockpit le mans prototypes have such small doors
good stuff, it looks huge!! although i do not like that green so ill skip this.. so there are no models with native power functions in 2015? what a bummer!
'these sets are the first wave of technic sets for 2015. Every year has 2 waves of new technic sets 1h2015 and 2h2015. The flagship for 2015 is still unknown
Version from the leaked version looks VERY different. Impossible to replicate these curves exactly in LEGO? At least we'll be able to clean up the front!
this is an awesome set, wish i can get it but no money ;-; pros and cons about technic xD pros almost never falls apart lots of peices to put together gives a challenge to builde cons ;-; small loseable parts hard to fix when you mess up or something goes wrong afterwards hard to clean up dust dont mind this its just my opinion
Hey.... So I wasn't a Lego fan at the time they released this, I saw one for 130 euros on bricklink (the first set I could find that wasn't used),but the shipping price was nowhere to be seen, do I have to like make an account or something?
I'm planning to buy this and was wondering, can the seat and steering be changed to the right? Since a real Le-Mans car has the steering on the right side, and the left hand side looks kind of weird.
When does this set come out I've been waiting for it to come out but haven't seen it in stores yet and I really want to get it but don't know when it gets released
BrickBox Studios I'm a big fan of the 42029 set if you can get it somewhere, eBay maybe. It's a fantastic starter set, not too expensive, and provides you with a ton of useful pieces.
Hey Sariel, I was wondering what you think about the Enzo Ferrari (Model 8653)? Also this model would match standing next to it (in my opinion at least :D)
Hey ! I was just reading the comments and I saw yours ;) I have the Enzo Ferrari set you are talking about (apart but I do have it :) ) and I liked very much as a 7 years old boy when I bought it and would still like it if it was together right now :D What I have to say about it is that it is a great set to build and to play with ! But it doesn't look 100% accurate and even some spots on the Lego set look very rough, compared to the real car :/ But that is caused by the parts Lego has used to create it. For example, the FXX (race version of the Enzo) looks WAYYY better than the Enzo Ferrari (details, accuracity, etc.). I really recommend it to you even of it's not the best set I've ever had :D
I do have that set too (Even build up) and I was just curious if others think, that this set would look great next to this Race Car, too. My sence for what looks good and what doesn't is kind of crap :D But, I think of buying this set just to have a nicer look on the shelf mext to my desk
Sariel's LEGO Technic Den Also, there are very similar yellow rim stickers, but there are 12 in the 42029, as opposed to 8 in the 42000. I don't think that the printing is the same, though.
For anybody wanting to add a motor that actually drives this thing, first, open the rear hood. In the unibody (As I call it) That holds the differential gear, put 2 black pins (The small ones). Then, add a medium gear (This is the same gear that is the hand of god steering for this set). Connect it with any small axle piece, then insert the motor on it. Add a battery where ever you can place it, then I believe it could drive it. I didn't test it myself so I don't really know, If you want RC steering, you are going to have to mod the hell out of the thing, just to add 2 motors and have RC steering, also an IR controller.
+Tim Timmy I was actually able to remove the engine, replacing it with a motor, and added a servo motor to the rack and pinion gear, and I was able to fully RC it, but I have no more than 2 motors, so it only powers the steering and the rear wheels.
Sariel's LEGO® Technic Den I'm not really sure there is room inside (well for a XL motor which I would prefur to use) cause last time I checked one side was blocked by a steeing axel or something and the other side is blocked by the engine cover
Sariel fantastic work as always. I'm so pumped to see these sets hit the shelves! Great work as always! 👍
This set is the perfect candidate for RC modifications. I mean, they gave you a spot to put the battery box! And there is so much open space to fill with motors. I love Lego for giving us such a cool base for a sweet RC car. And, as always, great review Sariel:)
Thanks for the great reviews Sariel! You are always thinking of every detail and mentioning everything. Love that!
Just imagine the Porsche 919 and the Bentley Speed 8 having a good time together and you'll get the exterior look.
At least, that's what I see.
Do the review of the b-model. That model seems pretty cool.
jert1100 Sure, just let me wait 'till they release instructions.
Watching this back now. Man, your video quality has improved so rapidly. So happy to be around still
Thanks for sticking around!
just got mine.
damn its huge in person and looks soo good.
this video convinces me to buy it and its worth it
I used the switch included in the power functions set to make it so the lights work when the motor is not running.
I like the way you did the speed build times 24
I got a 5 second time penalty because it took me 5 seconds to get it😂😂😂😂😂
Wow, It's a really big set !
I've bought it yesterday. The set is amazing. Impressive huge with beautiful design and many useful pieces. It's a fun to build too. I've made my decision to buy it because of your video Sariel. Thank you
It's like they've read my feedback to make a 24H Le Mans car. Wow. Can't wait to buy this! :O
The preliminary design had a much better design for the headlights IMO. It looked closer to a Pagani Zonda or something of that kin originally, but someone at lego though it was a great idea to make it look like it had it's faced smashed into a wall and give it a swollen lower lip.
Agreed.
No i think this model is based on Toyota's TS030 endurance racer, which have a similar duck nose head design
Sariel's LEGO Technic Den use a minute of you time I need a little help
Is the black extension wire (the one that was with the rc buggy motor set) compatible with the pf ir receiver?
I have 4 sets and I dont know if I have too buy the newer ones
Kostas Koutsianopoulos No, it's not.
hey i want to ask that if it is possible to motorize it using the pf ir remote?
Genialne! Zmotoryzowane są funkcje, za które w rzeczywistości odpowiadają ręce mechaników...Czasami mam wrażenie, że z Technic warte uwagi są tylko flagowce i niektóre małe zestawy, a to co pomiędzy zawodzi.
I have the 42000, this car is my new dream now xD and that hamster, he liked the hood.
I think, I should buy this set!!! It's awesome!!!
I can't wait to see what transmissions people make with the new pieces!
instantly one of my favorites. I got mine, your video helped alot, I revised the single 13M beam at the back that you mentioned just destroys the smooth line of the set. its still a great set for the money spent.
+Paulo Abesamis Glad I could help :)
Awesome videos, as always!!! Keep up the great work & I gotta have more Hamster in the videos.
one of my favorite sets,
every penny spent is worth-it in my opinion
Dang, you've had a busy weekend! I didn't realize these sets were out already.
He has them too early because he's an official lego reviewer or something that (that set is going to exit on 2015 january 1st
I think you're lucky to get an extra bevel 12 gear. Usually you don't get extra ones of them. It's good because once [this actually happened to me yesterday] a 12t bevel snapped apart in a differential on me.
Hmmm so the gearbox parts are for functions?
Oh yeah baby! C'mon awesomeness
How much? I have my 42000 and Im new to collecting sportscar sets, this will sit perfect to my collection.
ive already seen this review and got this set already,
but i dont know why i keep on watching this review xD.
im proud to have this set.
every penny spent is worth-it
Love the reviews, man. Top job.
Saw this in my argos catalogue so that why im watching this :)
Zazdroszcze ze masz dostep do tych klockow. Swietna robota i super filmiki. Gratsy !!!
WOW ! I defo will be buying this like everything about it looks fantastic, good functions, its a lovely model. Very good video, keep it up.
The thing uses pushrods! Great! I'm an owner of 42000 and I broke the somewhat flimsy rear suspention(the yellow pieces).
and yes your Mercedes hexawheel is awesome!!!
Well i think this car is for people who dont like the technic bugatti chiron and porsche. Also people will like this car because of HOG steering this car have.
Definitely I'll buy this!
great review you just earned another subscriber !!!!!
Thanks. Sorry, I don't know the dates yet.
Sariel's LEGO Technic Den alright, no problem :D
Are you going to do a review of th B-)model?
Thanx Dan
Hey Sariel
Thank you very much for the review!
I like it that Lego puts the new suspension pieces/wheel hubs in nearly every set.:D Is the new green a completely new Lego colour? Or was it already used in other non-technic sets?
It's been used before, but never in the Technic line.
I just bought this set! The first thing I notice are them hard tire
This set is awesome
I have 42000 and I am planning on getting this as well as the porche
I subscribed because of that hamster
NIK4014
Me too XD
looks cool, i'm thinking to get this for my collection :D
I just want to ask you a question about what I should buy first. Should i buy the artic truck first or the 24 hour racer first because I like the artic truck better than the 24 hour racer but I'm just afraid that the 24 hour racer will be out of stock once I save up for it because you know, everyone loves it and they will all aim for it first. WHAT SHOULD I BUY FIRST! For short.
Not everyone loves it. If you want a really, really good starter set, why not consider 42029?
Sariel's LEGO® Technic Den I'VE already got that
ADE SUN and I already followed your giude to make it a v8 engine
ADE SUN Well, if you're looking for a set that gives you really good parts, I think Arctic Truck is better choice.
ADE SUN but still I didn't risk getting rid of the winch conection so I found another way to put the motor but it dosn't use a l motor it uses a xl motor
Nice video! How do you get your hands on these sets before the are released?
Watch whole video and you will know. The information is right there.
AWESOME!! Awesome CAR!!!
So you Can get this in 2015 or does each model have a specific release date?
I don't know the exact dates, but I believe they are region-specific, not set-specific.
Okay Thanks
Got this one instead of Porsche... rest of $200 was spent on VW Beetle and VW Van...
Modification wise, I think this one is far more suitable than Porsche where you most likely sacrifice transmissions and engine part.

I don't have near the amount of pieces or Power Functions like you do, so I can't make it.
Sound cool?
I didn't think about it. But I'm tempted to build some supercar with Police livery and lights.
Very good video and very good set,but the power functions are 8293 set ,not 8297 set
Is there a. Exact date that this is going to be released?
I'm trying to make a full suspension buggy, do you think that this would be a good set to get it from?
Yup, I think you could mod the B-model into a buggy quite easily.
Sariel's LEGO Technic Den THANKS!
How come this set does not appear to be on the Lego shop site?
looks realy cool!!
Good job as always! Both models look great. It's a big improvement over the grand prix.
doors are only the part that opens with the mechanism, the part that u lifted manualy is just bodywork. all the closed cockpit le mans prototypes have such small doors
I have seen the bags with hole in the lego creator mini model that came in canasters.
Great review :D when is this set to be released?
good stuff, it looks huge!! although i do not like that green so ill skip this..
so there are no models with native power functions in 2015? what a bummer!
'these sets are the first wave of technic sets for 2015. Every year has 2 waves of new technic sets 1h2015 and 2h2015. The flagship for 2015 is still unknown
Konstantin Parashkevov nice thanks!
Has anything like that 3x13 curved panel been used in LEGO before?
Version from the leaked version looks VERY different. Impossible to replicate these curves exactly in LEGO? At least we'll be able to clean up the front!
No, this is a completely new type of a panel.
Sariel's LEGO Technic Den Oh well. Thanks for the reviews dude!
this is an awesome set, wish i can get it but no money ;-;
pros and cons about technic xD
pros
almost never falls apart
lots of peices to put together
gives a challenge to builde
cons ;-;
small loseable parts
hard to fix when you mess up or something goes wrong afterwards
hard to clean up dust
dont mind this its just my opinion
DUST! Gah, the bane of my existence in the Technic world. Oh the horror :(
The paneling gets so DUSTY GAHH, I hate it, do I look like a maid technic sets?
Hey.... So I wasn't a Lego fan at the time they released this, I saw one for 130 euros on bricklink (the first set I could find that wasn't used),but the shipping price was nowhere to be seen, do I have to like make an account or something?
Yes, you need an account. Bricklink has a big Help section that may be a good place to start.
I took apart my ugly 8070 to buy this as a replacement, however they discontinued it right after I did that!
I'm planning to buy this and was wondering, can the seat and steering be changed to the right? Since a real Le-Mans car has the steering on the right side, and the left hand side looks kind of weird.
As far as I remember, yes.
When does this set come out I've been waiting for it to come out but haven't seen it in stores yet and I really want to get it but don't know when it gets released
Plastic brick productions It's been out for 5 months now. Try eBay.
Plastic brick productions It released on August 1st in the US and is now for sale everywhere
yeah I know that now its to bad that I already had one shipped to me
Aww that sucks man. When did you get it??
Yeah I did I already have a video on my channel up
Would you say this is a good set to start out with technic? I've gotten some other smaller sets but nothing big
I'd say it's a pretty advanced set for a start.
Sariel's LEGO® Workshop what set do you recommend then?
BrickBox Studios I'm a big fan of the 42029 set if you can get it somewhere, eBay maybe. It's a fantastic starter set, not too expensive, and provides you with a ton of useful pieces.
How much is that lego technic 24 hours racecar?
Hei sariel , can you do the review of the B model please ?
It's coming this weekend.
SO COOL
Can these be motorized as a R/C car easily?
do u bite your fingers so much to the point that they bleed?
Will you be reviewing the 42056 when it comes out?
+sIapshot136 I review everything Technic, so yes.
I quite liked the headlights...
how. have these when they arent released yet
Which set would you recommend the most out of the these 2015 sets?
Chickened I like the Arctic Truck, it's something new and it has a ton of useful pieces. Also, orange for the win! :)
Hey Sariel could you review the Grand Prix Racer B-model soon?
Hey Sariel, I was wondering what you think about the Enzo Ferrari (Model 8653)?
Also this model would match standing next to it (in my opinion at least :D)
Addi zockt I don't own the Enzo set, so I can't really answer any of these questions, sorry.
But, I think of buying this set just to have a nicer look on the shelf mext to my desk
very cool!
There is a similar bag like the "wheel" bag in the 42000 set
Where did you buy it?
Would you tell me the dimensions of the car Sariel? It's 48 long and ??? wide? I cant see because of the note sticked on the box
21 cm.
I think you should put panels on the inside of the cab so your hamster inspector can drive
2:45
this is called retrocompatibility
Are the wheels same as 42000's
The rims are the same, but tires are smaller (thinner).
Sariel's LEGO Technic Den Also, there are very similar yellow rim stickers, but there are 12 in the 42029, as opposed to 8 in the 42000. I don't think that the printing is the same, though.
What kind of mountain bike is the one in the background when the camera was inside the car?
15:27
Modified Kelly's Madman 30.
Finali , you make the review of the B model.
What is the music? Btw great vid mate.
how much did this cost you?
Zero.
wow how?
like are you in touch with lego and they can set you up or something?
H00D1E_N1NJA [ROAD TO 300] Yes, as explained at the end of the video.
Sariel's LEGO® Technic Den ;3 i didnt get to that part. but that's awesome dude, i like your work
Nice v8 engine! Sariel, your amazing! Keep up doing it making us happy!
it is not his own build, it is an official set
For anybody wanting to add a motor that actually drives this thing, first, open the rear hood. In the unibody (As I call it) That holds the differential gear, put 2 black pins (The small ones). Then, add a medium gear (This is the same gear that is the hand of god steering for this set). Connect it with any small axle piece, then insert the motor on it. Add a battery where ever you can place it, then I believe it could drive it.
I didn't test it myself so I don't really know, If you want RC steering, you are going to have to mod the hell out of the thing, just to add 2 motors and have RC steering, also an IR controller.
+Tim Timmy
I was actually able to remove the engine, replacing it with a motor, and added a servo motor to the rack and pinion gear, and I was able to fully RC it, but I have no more than 2 motors, so it only powers the steering and the rear wheels.
is when it comes out in stores
How easy does it look to adapt to RC?
Reasonably easy. It's huge, plenty of room inside.
Sariel's LEGO® Technic Den I'm not really sure there is room inside (well for a XL motor which I would prefur to use) cause last time I checked one side was blocked by a steeing axel or something and the other side is blocked by the engine cover
Awesome rit rit yayay
Cool:)
Jaka jest cena takiego zestawu, jeśli można wiedzieć? :)
Nie wiem. Stąd napis price: unknown.
Rzeczywiście jest tam taki napis, to przepraszam za zawracanie głowy głupotami. :)
finally ! :)
Sariel's LEGO® Technic Den why your table changes color
Nice I wish I had it
You are my idol!
8293's battery box has a more classier switch feel
