- A soon-to-be hidden gem is on the horizon in Tijuana. The restoration of Club Campestre hopes to not only boost tourism, but also be a stepping stone into a better, brighter tomorrow for the U.S./Mexico border town. Erik Anders Lang travels there to find out more on this Adventures in Golf, presented by United Airlines.
This isn't Erik's first visit to Tijuana, but it definitely feels like it. That's because this time he's learning of the rich and fascinating history of Tijuana, including its role during the United States prohibition era of the 1930s.

it's amazing this content is free. Should be a netflix series
I agree. But people need to stop pointing this out coz then it won't be free no more lol.
United is paying for it, so it ain’t free exactly. It is to us, but thanks to their sponsors.
Shut up!

Shhhhhhh!
Dude!!! Shut up 🤫
I swear, every time you guys go out, the quality gets better and better. The stories, the writing and the camera work are just top notch. Thank you to you and your crew for all these amazing features/shorts/stories. You are true ambassadors for the game! Thank you again.
Club Campestre Tijuana is my Home Course. I Play there once a week. And part of it"s magic is Our Beloved Pro & Golf Chamán Ernesto Perez Acosta. A few words of encouragement from him, are like a blessing & a guarantee that you'll have a Wonderfull Round!Try it, You'll Love It!!! Make Tijuana Your Next Golf Destination!!! ⛳
What about the expropriation? is that resolved or is it that this was filmed before that started?
@@octaviojacobo7364 not going to happen anymore, it happened just a few months before this was filmed
@@octaviojacobo7364 That was just a tantrum by the soon to be gone governor of Baja California Jaime Bonilla, who was denied membership at the club for his criminal record.
Definitley a bucket list course! Planning to head over next week, any advice on how to reserve a round?
@@gerardobarron3448 just call the course and reserve a tee time, not too much different from any other course
The scene with Ernesto is so wholesome. I love not only people like this in the game of golf but also in life itself. What a beautiful human.
I hope you realize what a treasure you are to the world Eric. This episode simply left me speechless.
You are the Anthony Bourdain of golf/culture/travel.
Thanks Erik had a great time filming this with you guys!
I love this channel. My favorite channel hands down. I have spent my entire life around golf, including earning my living teaching golf and running golf courses. This channel taps into my deep love of the game. I wish I could work on this channel. Thank you so much for all the wonderful videos and stories. 🙏🙏🙏
This is better than the Golf channel. 🔝
@@howlightworks indeed
@@howlightworks they do a great job, golf is the star but the interesting and informative back stories always are so enjoyable. Great production value as well. I’m shocked not more subs.
I leave for my mission to Tijuana on Monday! I am a die hard golfer and thought there would be no thought of golf in this city. this is truly eye opening thank you.
I don't know how anyone can dislike these videos. The story adds so much depth, history, background to these videos. The embracing of cultures is an amazing idea that people are losing.
Having just transplanted to Chula Vista a few years ago, it's been cool to learn more about TJ from multiple angles living down here compared to Oakland where I grew up. I never even knew the golf course was there and I had driven by it multiple times going to eat at nearby restaurants or to Xolos stadium..
It’s really incredible seeing Erik and the team evolve over the years. Season 1 was simply quirky pockets of golf. This season is fully immersing the viewer into not only the golf landscape but the human landscape. Whatever Skratch is paying these guys, they need to double it
I’m one of does UA-cam users who watch videos, read comments and never ever comment but i just want to thank your entire team for the quality, production and effort you guys put in these videos. I fell in love with the game of golf this year and you guys only increase my new joy in life. Thank you
Another great episode, EAL! Way to capture the magic and essence of Mexico. Thank you for being a great ambassador to the sport and for showcasing the story of the people who have contributed to the city. I, one day, will play this course! Keep up the great work 👏🏽
This was an absolute joy to watch. Growing up and living in Central Cali, I have always had a special love for the Hispanic culture, especially the food and the family values and their passion for friendship and sharing.
These episodes are always pure 🔥
Best free content on the internet. Also, Erik gives off great Dax Shepard vibes.
they really exposed Nortico like that... whah a great episode, glad you got a real taste of the Tijuana I know and love
storytelling, editing, sound design... holy moly this channel is GOOD...
This video is f*ing amazing! It's so heartfelt and wonderful!
I absolutely love the narrative that all of the locals seem to have collaborated on.....but they hadn't...
They all just love to be seen as accepting, and to try and be accepting of the future of golf!
I’m born and raised on this border and grew up calling these two cities, in 2 different countries, my home. Not many people can wrap their head around that. Thank you EAL and Skratch for this amazing episode and for showing how beautiful and amazing this border town is and what it means to the people of Tijuana! Much love and respect for what y’all do! Keep killing it!
I've been crossing the border at least twice a year for the last 15 years to play Campestre. Always told people it was a hidden gem in the middle of the city. Feeling pretty, pretty validated right now.
How do u get a tee time?
how do you get on? i've called several times and been hung up on
@@sktelcom91 I just show up. It’s never been busy but I don’t play on the weekends. Them not answering the phone sounds about right.
@@mmhmmhmmhmmhmmh thanks for the tip. I've been meaning to play there for a while now
Watching this episode felt like watching Anthony Bourdain again. Beautifully done.
Bravo! This is episode is so well done. It features travel, adventure, food, history, geopolitics, proud locals, a message of hope, and of course golf. Also, great cinematography and music.
Any streaming service (that I receive here in Switzerland) please sign this! What a great season!! Thanks EAL, and the team.
Great job!!
I lived in SD for a few years as a kid in the late 1970’s and my Dad was a big fan of Mexico. It’s was a much safer place in those days. We spent many weekends in Tijuana eating and just experiencing an entirely different world. Now living in NYC, I would love to return.
I hope Eduardo get's his hole-in-one!!!! Learned so much from this video Erik about the area and the culture in general. Also, Caesar Salad?? Really?? That is a great story in itself. Keep them coming EAL!!
Love the shout out to Anthony Bourdain. RIP forever to one of my hero’s.
Life has been wild for me lately, and stumbling across these Skratch documentaries has definitely helped bring me some relaxation and happiness again. Thanks EAL!
Liking comments giving this video positive messages because the way you are incorporating the community that builds these golf course really shows all that these places have to offer not only as a golf course but as a city, community, family. These stories that come from these golf course are beautiful. Thank you.
Excelente video de Eric, y el Pro Ernesto Perez Acosta siempre tan sencillo y carismatico !!
This course is one of the things that made me decide to resume playing golf after years away. Have had lunch across the street at Erizo (as with Caesar's another Plascencia family gem) more times than I can count. Food is fantastic and I can get to and from Tijuana faster than I can Carlsbad from the center of SD. Now that my back is good to go, Club Campestre is at the top of my list. I mean come on... golf de buen calidad por la mañana, luego vuelta a la esquina para ceviche, tostadas de pulpo, tacos de marlin y un buen rosado de Baja por comida. Can't wait...
Total respect for driving across in the face of your biggest sponsor for the art.
Thanks you to all involved for this. I love the historic & community aspects.
Really loved this story. This hit close to home being a first Gen Mexican American growing up on the border
What a great way of bringing people together and wanting them to meet each other with a bit of Golf, a bit of excellent food, a great language and before all great people. Well done Erik
Thank you for opening people's minds to new cultures, languages, and ways to live. The content of this video is GOLDEN for many different reasons, but mainly because of the feelings that arise inside of you! Congratulations. I will show this video to my students learning Spanish soon!
Erik, I have to say that all of your Adventures are noteworthy and since discovering your channel, I've been experiencing the amazing world of Golf thru your eyes. This Adventure was a fantastic weaving of golf, course design, Mexican golf celebrity, US/Mexican history, interesting characters, food/drink and more. Thanks for the ride.
New to finding your UA-cam Channel and this really is a brilliant piece of work. I love the sociological, philosophical, comedic, sporting, adventurous aspects and the intertwining of them all together. Great work and thanks for entertaining me on my humdrum journey into work everyday keep on producing the great content I'm running out!
9:54 WOAH i had no idea. This is an awesome show where you can learn so much more than just golf.
I grew up in San Diego and played in multiple junior tournaments at Tijuana CC. It was always a highlight of the summer to go over the border to play at that course....and eat a ton of tacos post round.
Adventures in Golf never disappoints.
Erik, please never stop making videos. Your content is always top notch.
Fantastic once again Eric. I’ve visited Tijuana twice in 20 years and would never have known bout this golf course. Great job highlighting this and even more so when you introduce the guys who are developing and promoting not only the golf course but Tijuana as a whole. Maybe one day I’ll have the chance to return and play it.
Love this!!! The golf course architect is a champ! As a golf course superintendent, I love the golf course maintenance side of the episodes! Thank you.
Very Well Done, Erik! Something, I normally never do is read some of the other comments. This time I did and what I notice, was the positive theme of support and complements towards you, the channel and the direction the channel is going. I have only seen a few episodes such as, Texas, Redwoods, and now Tijuana all highlighting the human connection through the warmth of your storytelling. The humanity of your subscriber is a reflection of you creating a space for like minded people to applaud the goodness in the truth. I wish you and your team continue success!
This is utter viewing pleasure! I LOVE THIS. Travel, golf, interesting people amazingly produced by the team and presented by EAL! Thank you!
This is some of the best golf content on UA-cam. The history lessons and information that is packed into these episodes are so perfect.
Best content anywhere, period.
EAL….the Rick Steeves of golf travel. Another fire video.
*SO good.* End of story.❤️🔥
wow, these are the best golf stories Erik. fantastic history and culture
Best episode yet. Kudos to your team. Passion is the secret sauce to great stories.
Simply amazing production quality, storytelling, and overall great content from EAL as always.
Never fails to entertain mr.lang and crew
Haven't felt this way about a series since the old days of watching Bourdain. This is unmatched.
This is a Beautiful episode. I cannot wait to play that course in TJ.
What a beautiful channel. It's truly top notch golf cinematography but the story-telling & connection to the "why we love golf" bring this channel into the TOP.
Great episode. Erik needs a food show. Love the touches on the history
Erik, that’s so much for shedding light on life in Tijuana. I also really enjoyed the “Mexican Open” episode. Great work!
This is my new favorite show. I'm 5 episodes in and I cant get enough!
This channel is just amazing in it's content. Thank you.
this show make me remembering about Anthony Bourdain, and when Eric mentioned about him, such a nostalgic feeling
So much more than golf. Love this series.
What a great story. Thanks for posting.
These videos are unreal! Great job guys
This is such an amazing channel, love the golf history and stories :)
How is this channel below 1 million subscribers? Truly the most thought provoking golf content on UA-cam.
I’ve been watching for years. And it still blows my mind how Skratch doesn’t have more subscribers
Amazing history! Love the local and international tied together
This was fantastic- I felt like you gave me a glimpse into a part of the world that I know very little about. Great stuff.
Such an authentic educative show. 💯
I watch far too much UA-cam and this Adventures in Golf series is far and away my favorite series on here.
such an epic video getting better every year
This episode is amazing!!!
This episode is epic and by far one of my favourite episode over the last six seasons.
I live on the imaginary line, Canadian side. Looking over to Michigan. Really hard to do these days, as I miss all the golf courses over there. At this point, U.S citizens can drive over to Canada, but we still can't drive over to the U.S. Come on, let us golf your beautiful courses again! Sorry for the side rant. Man, another great episdoe. Way to explore that imaginary line, another passionate story. The one course I'd love to restore, over that imaginary line, is Black Forest, so sad to loose two Doak courses in Michigan, man, would love to see High Pointe back too.
Great course. Loved playing it.
Thank God this show exists!
I've played this course many times, I love it.
These keep getting better and better
Shout out from India! Just so you know where your audience is watching from.
It's always great to see another episode and this one was another something special!
Loved this piece
I am so happy they are renovating it. There was talk for a long time, even untill recently, that they were going to tear it down.
Excellent episode!
Another awesome vid 👍 keep them coming
I served an LDS Mission in Tijuana a few years back…our offices were right by Club Campestre and I always wanted to play it…great video EAL! Tijuana is the best
Amazing history! As a first gen Mexican American from San Diego and visiting Tijuana every other weekend growing up, I had no clue their was golf course in the middle of Tijuana!! Super Cool!!
Beautiful work.
Having a little bit of magic allows you to tap into and be that magic in order to give back to some of the magic that the magic provided to you. Magic.
Beatiful Video Erik, Just superbe movie work , More Please !!
That Caesar salad caught me off guard... but now planning a trip here!
Great show...awesome + That is a Caesar Salad....brilliant.! 👍👍
“Renovate or die” … pretty poetic statement from Eduardo, can be applied to so so much (~24:00)
Brilliant content 👌🏴⛳
Amazing episode!
Amazing, i played this course in early 90s, i have family and basically Tijuana is my second home. I need to go back as I had only started golfing when I played there.
Damn! I came here for the golf and found myself spellbound. Mavales!
As a young adult golfer in the late 70's in San Diego, nothing beat playing Club Campestre in the day then going to the Greyhound track for steaks and races in the evening : )
what an amazing course,
This is really amazing to see having just watch season 3 of "Narcos". Tijuana looks really cool. Not what I thought at all.
Simply awesome!!
