Something I'm trying to learn recently and had a bit of fun with is AP Briar, or what I call Bloodbender Briar. When going into a squishy team, she can seriously one-shot some champions.
Her E has a 100% and 240% AP ratio, her Q has a 60% AP ratio and her R has a 120% AP ratio. Order would typically be E>Q>W, but you start with W for jungle clear. You can combo her Q stun fairly well into her fully charged E.
Items to go for: Stormsurge and Rabadon's. Shadowflame and Cryptbloom or Void Staff. I'm partial to Malignance because you can get a huge AoE of hatefog.
Runes I use right now are Dark Harvest, Cheap Shot, Eyeball Collection, Ultimate Hunter, Gathering Storm and Absolute Focus.
And if you wanted a build that focuses on W while keeping her AP Ratios high, I'd go Nashor's, Lich Bane, Riftmaker, Rabadon's and whatever other item you want, maybe even Rocketbelt.
Shhh! Riot isn't good at balancing ap auto attack champions!

Malignance didnt do a lot because you are killing them with your ult so it doesnt have time to do damage. They have to survive the beam and sit in the puddle for it to do anything.

Having the new jungle item opens the posibility for many more champions to do good in jungle. Its funny seeing "THAT IS TROLLING" on champ select but actually all they needed was an item like this

yo mr blue3, I believe the reason your malignance does no dmg is because you either use your ultimate to finish enemies - or you straigt up miss it

Malignance didn't do a lot of damage because most things that would have been hurt by the pool died mere moments after you ulted them
