    As a brewer this is so weird watching. Like a good chunk of what makes it good or bad is in the mash. Tail end and processing matter as well. For an overall good product you have to control both.

    • @dannym2359
      @dannym2359 2 роки тому +6

      I think they gave them all the same starting mash with that in mind. That being said, it felt like they thought the larger portion of flavor came from the distilling process and not how you mash. I could also be wrong, since I have never made any liquor, only been a consumer. I do think it made it more fair when searching for a master distiller though, because they had to show their skill when it comes to the tail end of the process, where the master distiller of any liquor producer is going to be held the most accountable. That being said, the old white dude was the only one who looked like he was keeping track of what he had tasted and where it was, because he at least gave the impression that he "knew" which jar had the best liquor in it.

    Best homemade liquor we made came from a group of beer guy’s that made “Meade” …. They didn’t like it. Honestly tasted like shit. We did a run through the still… turning it into high proof honey liquor…. Untempered, it was smooth right off the worm, best I’ve ever tasted, I’ve tasted quite a few.

    • @brandongreene9615
      @brandongreene9615 2 роки тому +1

      Yea honeyshine is the best. Hands down. More people are starting to make it nowadays and it’s the easiest thing to make. Just add water and yeast to honey, let it sit for about a month (takes longer to ferment than grain) then distill it. I take a little piece of sassafras root and stick it in the jar. Makes it look like a perfect whiskey color in just a day and adds a super nice root beer flavor.
