  • Craig Button joins as the 'Pro Am Sports Big Guest of the Day!' He shares his thoughts on how great the Oilers played and flashes back to how their season started with the poor team play and the change in coaching. He highlights some big defensive plays made in Game 7 that were taught to the team throughout the season. He looks at the series as a whole giving the biggest takeaway he saw for the Oilers. Conviction and commitment. Button speaks on special teams and the powerplay while analyzing the commitment the team had in those moments to kill penalties. Kris Knoblauch had conviction to start Stuart Skinner and make the coaching changes he did which truly helped the Oilers beat the Canucks.
Craig Button then sheds some light on Dylan Holloway and the confidence he's shown in the NHL speaking back on his wrist injury in college that affected his performance up until now.
He moves onto the stellar play of Evan Bouchard and how he's the first defenceman in the NHL to have 20 points after the first two rounds in the playoffs. Button says that he's always been a smart and crafty player but that he's playing defence as well. Button says that he's the Oilers' #1 guy without a doubt and that he's a top 10-12 defenceman in the league.
Of course with the big win to punch their ticket to the Western Conference Final, Craig Button gives his view of what might go down between the Dallas Stars and the Edmonton Oilers.

What they got with Pickard is they have a guy on the bench that can come in and play average or above and that's all we need.

exactly. no need to be a superstar just do the job and Pickard in his short time as a goalie has shown that he is more than capable. Skinner has shown that he can't even be mediocre, enough gambling with him, dont know why the Oilers keep torturing themselves by putting him in the net, Pickard would've kept the last game 3-0. whenever the puck gets near Skinner by himself I automatically know the opposing team is getting a goal and another one soon after that because Skinner freezes up from the pressure. Nothing against Skinner personally, just facts, best of luck to the Oilers going forward I'm rooting for them.

Last Canadian team to go to cup final I believe was Montreal Canadiens Carrie Price played his best hockey he stood on his head entire playoffs and Montreal brought Perry in and Eric Stall for the run and Montreal Canadiens were on a roll Carry Price was unbelievable I'd like to hear Perry talk about that series the would have won Stanley cup if Price wasn't taken out by other team sliding him into the post boom Price is out you could feel the air drain from Montreal there back up was a young goaltender with no experience and Montreal just flopped I've never seen a goaltender playing like Price he was a beast the entire playoffs and for them to loose it with Price being knocked out all teams at end New Montreal Canadiens were feeding off Price and after that series Price played one of best playoff series in history and they only lost to loosing Price would really love to hear Cory Perry talk about that run Montreal made and thoughts on Carry Price injury
