That time when the Quaker City boys brought Leon to Magnolia Motor Lounge to play after the FW Weekly Awards show they headlined. And I was too exhausted to go to the after-party, so I hung out and caught Leon's gig. Me, the MML staff and maybe 5 other ppl. Funny, 'cos the first time I saw Edie, I knew she was gonna be big. First time I saw Maren Morris, I knew she'd be big. But somehow, Leon slipped under my radar. Sorta. I remember telling him there was an unanswered need for some good ol' Motown. I'm not even sure he knew he was doing Motown then.
