I know, right? Back when they used to feel like real kids
Especially the part in the kitchen when the parents can hear the commotion from upstairs.
Yes this is eerily similar to how things happened in my house growing up.
And parents always tried the flipping of light switch tactic to stop the fighting and it never worked lol.
Yes, This was like a riot, where bart was talking about something, and lisa got annoyed that Bart was taking the mickey out of her
Marge turning the lights on and off is such a mom thing to do

You're are one lucky kid. Mine was just splashing the jar of water on me and my sister every time we were fighting.
My mom also did this, as a courtesy warning. Then she would smack us with a melon baller.
Part of the reason I hate her.
I like how Homer apparently headbutted the extractor hard enough to bend the metal.
I love that he was seemingly able to turn off the pain like a switch in favour of sating his hunger.
Ties into the episode where he becomes a boxer. Man effectively has a football helmut under his own head.

Yeah first he hurt himself after pretending trying to eat it then later he feels better when he eats anyway
What I love about these early Simpsons seasons is that the scenes depicted are actually realistic and you can actually picture children arguing and fighting like that, along with Marge flicking the lights in order to get their attention. And Homer doing the same thing with the pie and hitting his head on the extractor hood is just comedy gold!

When Season 9 started to go downhill my opinion 1:28. For me Season 1-8 were the best golden classical of The Simpsons

Not in my family. Me and my sister might argue about who's turn it was to play on the computer but we never fought or trying to strangle eachother about it

Seems like during that part they kept changing how much to crop so u can properly see marge and the kids fighting

Writers were the best in the Simpson for Season 1-8. It started downhill Season 9 episode 2 I mean it just decent season and season 10 is I guess
@@peepsg nah it didn't go downhill in season 9. It was great for many more seasons
@@leob4403 well for opinion it kind of was due to old writers left. But it still kept going because it popular like family guy. Only thing difference that Fox only and Disney due to for own Fox

This is one of my favourite episodes! Perfectly paced, every joke is well written/delivered and the episode ends in a heartfelt way whilst simultaneously developing Bart and Lisa’s characters. 😊

The cutaway to downstairs at the last second followed by the audio of them fighting is one of the best-directed gags in the entire series. This is one of those scenes that also makes me tear up now, because it's so incredibly accurate to childhood.
The writers crafted this act well since the jokes seamlessly flowed one after the other without letting the scene down

The joke layering is badass.
"And if you get hit, it's your OWN fault!" Typical rivalry, especially if they purposely walk towards one another to purposely hit one another to get some sort of revenge out of pettiness. I kinda know that thing all too well.

I hate it when kids are considered the bad guys but the dads encourage misbehavior.
I always feel bad for those kids.
And right after Marge was trying to convince them that they were not in competition with each other. Sadly some parents love to pit their kids against each other for their parents’ approval/favor.

This entire episode is absolute fire. Pretty much every scene is a winner. Golden age Simpsons was on another level that shows today can't even dream of.

You can tell how angry Marge is at Homer.
Everything about this scene is so on the nose. It's unbelievable how accurate to my childhood this is. The deliberately trying to hurt your sibling. Then marge reaction is my favourite bit as my mum was the same and didn't know how to stop us fighting. While homers trying to fire the kids up to fight is hilarious. My dad wanted me and my younger brother to do boxing. So one day we would have a proper boxing match against one another. And said he would want it to be just like in the film the Krays. And the winner will be declared king. And the other one would be outcasted lol.

Only children don’t understand this concept. You have to have siblings and one of them be more successful to know

Homer is so damn funny when he bites the air until he reaches the pie only to bang his forehead before he could take his first bite. It's the pie's own fault if it got eaten, but it's Marge's own fault for leaving it unattended to tempt Homer into eating it. I would have loved to see Marge's reaction when she found out the pie was eaten. Let that be a lesson to all the wives - don't leave delicious cooked food unattended in your husband's sight.
It would be interesting to see Bart and Lisa fight.
