    In 2023, the Brazilian Congress approved a change to the Brazilian Constitution that allows us to have more than one citizenship. Because of this, I decided to try for American citizenship in March last year. In August, the USCIS approved my case, and I got my naturalization certificate and my American passport. Thanks for the great video.

    What is the difference between a 'request for additional evidence' and a 'request for evidence' in an EB2 NIW I-140 application, which USCIS sends to the petitioner/applicant after reviewing the petition?

    • @SanDiegoImmigrationlawyer
      @SanDiegoImmigrationlawyer  5 годин тому +1

      In an EB2 NIW I-140 application, both "Request for Evidence" (RFE) and "Request for Additional Evidence" serve the same purpose: USCIS needs more information to make a decision on your case. The terms are often used interchangeably.

    What about if green card holder has some misdemeanors in the background, how about?

    • @henriallou9316
      @henriallou9316 День тому +3

      just apply and disclose your misdemeanors even if you got it sealed or removed from your record. Be transparent and it's up to the uscis officer to make a decision.
      If you don't disclose and you fool them into giving you a citizenship they can find it later and deport you on the basis of lie. Someone got deported years after receiving a citizenship for not disclosing a shoplifiting on his record.

      You can relinquish a green card a lot easier than citizenship. There are many reasons in business you would want an easy out from the US system. People come to the US to make money, but people with money don't really like the US always. There are better places to live in the world.

    I’m Japanese Citizen and Green Card Holder. I ask local immigration attorney near me, she said, it will cost me $2,500.00 for lawyer’s processing fee and additionally, I have to pay US. Government $750.00 = Total of $3,250.00 but, she said, after Donald Trump elected U.S. President now, it is getting much higher and difficult now, she said, if you pay this amount, she is not guaranteed that I get US. Citizenship, so she recommended me just stay Green Card Holder for now.

    I came on a K1 and got my two year green card in November 2022, so now we're applying for removal of conditions which seems like it could possibly take very long. Would it be best to wait until that is approved so that I don't have two ongoing applications at the same time?

    My relatives (both US citizens) are currently in India, their home country, to find a groom for their daughter. Earlier, the husband was working in a merchant navy ship in India and he disappeared intentionally when the ship reached Miami in 2002. He later applied for asylum and is now a US citizen. I'm afraid he might be caught at the US port of entry when he returns to the USA in Feb-end, due to the changed scenario there at present.

    In my view, it doesn't matter whether a person holds a green card or is a natural-born citizen; what truly counts is their commitment to abiding by the laws of the United States. As long as individuals respect and adhere to the legal framework that governs our society, their status should be of little consequence. The essence of being part of this community lies in the shared responsibility of upholding the rule of law, which transcends any distinctions between citizenship and residency.
