I got my Montage a couple of weeks ago. I wasn’t exactly thrilled with the concert piano sounds in large part because the decay sounded very truncated compared to my real grand piano. Viewing the settings, I discovered a significant flaw in the factory programming. In the key scaling section, the break-point key was set to the very lowest MIDI note A-1 in all of the parts. This didn’t seem to make sense. So I changed these break point parameters to a more sensible setting nearer the middle of the piano, at D3. This immediately fixed the sound, lengthening the sustain and bringing out the string resonance, which the previously truncated decay had buried. Now it sounded and responded much more like a real grand piano. Try it, you’ll hear what I’m talking about.
@@brianlewis5360 The setting I'm referring to is found in the "Amplitude/Amp EG" tab for each Element of the piano patch. The graph on the upper right determines the scaling of the envelope times. This mimics the effects of string lengths, with the longer bass strings decaying slower than the short upper strings. With the original factory settings of A-1 as the "Center Key", and since A-1 is the lowest possible MIDI note, there is no center and the scaling becomes unidirectional. If this was ideal, there would be no need for a "Center Key" parameter. What I did was set a key that is near the actual center of the piano string length (D3), such that scaling becomes bi-directional as it is supposed to. That simple fix with each element in each part makes the piano patch behave much more like a real grand piano with realistic approximation of the differences in the effects of string length. I hope this explanation was helpful!
Its just a case of they like their sound and you like yours. But if it sounds like a piano should then thank you because a lot will send it back saying it sounds awful when its just the settings. Bravo
Yes, this info also applies to MODX. FYI...Be sure to update your MODX firmware to latest version. As of 04-2022 it is V2.52 To check your MODX firmware version: 1.) Press the [UTILITY] button to open the Utility display. 2.) Touch [Settings] tab -> [System] tab at the left side of the display. The following message appears in the bottom of the display: "MODX Firmware Version : *.**.*(c)2018" Yamaha Corporation (Obviously, the date may be different) Hope this helps.
Please launch Yamaha genos with 61 keys because first time I saw this keyboard I got inspiration and it brings lots of ideas please launch this keyboard please with 61 keys and with same feature and it's easy to understand for every keyboard player
Great job as usual, Blake

Could you give a little more details what settings you are referring to. I can’t figure out what you changed. Thanks.

Any new updates coming this year. Screens a bit laggy. Could do with more instruments.
Small question, does the Montage come with a USB cable?
Very informative!!!

Blake, how to save our performance? Then we can recall again our performance in the next day. Thank you Blake
Just like Rolands
Now ever never would buy this horrible expensive Instrument! A Korg PA or a Genos is much better and more confortable!!!
