    If you're after the update this is the full detail to show your dealer to get the best possible chance of them finding it:
    It won't show on the service campaign/recall dashboard that the dealers checks. The update is called "BMU ENHANCEMENT - NE EV BATTERY CONDITIONING FUNCTION AT LOW AMBIENT TEMPERATURE (BMS/VCU_2WD_4WD/AVN)" and it updates the VCU & BMS - customer should have already updated the head unit. The document number for the details of the upgrade is "HFE22-17-E080-NE"

    Why when I have paid for Eco pack which includes battery heating, do Hyundai try and charge for this update which is only allowing what should have been installed in the first place?

    • @LemonTeaLeaf
      @LemonTeaLeaf  2 роки тому

      I would still pay for the update but you're right they should have bundled it for free with one of the other update.

    Thanks for the video, James. Unfortunately my Premium spec car didn't even get the option of having the Eco Pack. Doesn't the new LR model get a 77kWh battery now?

      ☹️ i did say when they made it an option in the UK that it was a mistake not to offer it as standard as most new EV drive won't know the benefits of it.

  • @CarsJubilee

    Very jealous of you James but glad you guys got it in the UK!
    At the moment, the word here in the US is we may not get it for 2022 early models. But if you guys got it then maybe there is hope for us after all.

      I can't see why they couldn't as It's only software update. The Nordic region and the UK have it now only difference is language so i can't see it not ported if you guys have the eco pack in your cars already.
      Honestly can't wait to test it maybe finally see this 10-80% charge in 18 mins 😄

    James, what's the issue with the rear passenger window on yours please? I have a minor issue with my P45 in that a rear passenger door weather strip clip has popped off (beneath the strip) so the strip protrudes just a tiny bit on the very end. Hyundai have said "not covered" saying "well the door could have been disassembled, painted whatever" (it absolutely has not). I've been shocked at the absence of reasonable warranty cover with them thus-far. The dealer has quoted £200+ for the repair for labour & parts just for a replacement clip to merely retain the weather strip.

      on mine the flim around the door trim is peeling off and is a know issue its here on the video. Not sure if its the same thing as yours?

    I have an AWD with eco-pack and I have been trying to get the update via Arnold Clark in Glasgow with help from Hyundai Customer support. AC deny any knowledge of the update even after Hyundai spoke to them. They referred me to Arnold Clark Stirling who suggested that my car needed to be sent to Tilbury on a transporter to be updated. Can you suggest any dealer who can perform the update?

    • @LemonTeaLeaf
      @LemonTeaLeaf  Рік тому

      You can go to any official Hyundai dealer to get it done. I'm sure someone mentioned they had the update done in Falkirk Hyundai. I'm sure the one in Glasgow can do the update also just give them a call and quote the update name to them. I'm sure they'll have done an update on an Ioniq 5 already.

    • @chrisbeale9022
      @chrisbeale9022 Рік тому

      Arnold Clark Hyundai Alexandra Parade are not accepting bookings until March 2023 so, even if they acknowledged the BMS update existed, the chances of getting it installed are slim.

    Would you be able to do a 75 mph test with the Ioniq 5 like you did with the Kona?

    • @LemonTeaLeaf

      As the UK speed limit of 70 mph I'll need to make a trip to France for this test. Which will likely be summer 2023.

    Hi, I thought such updates would be part of the much lauded OTA (improvement) updates. Not something that would warrant a dealer visit or additional charge

    • @LemonTeaLeaf
      @LemonTeaLeaf  2 роки тому +2

      the OTA update only updates the infortainment and maps. this BMS update and other warranty updates that affects how the car behaves has to be update by the dealer then logged into their system so they know that it's been applied or not on your vehicle and kept in a central database.

    • @RussRyan7713
      @RussRyan7713 2 роки тому +2

      @@LemonTeaLeaf that's a cop out really. OTA updates should be the whole car. All systems.
      I know on Telsa the updates do the lot. Even the headlights get firmware updates.
      The other manufacturers still need to catch up for that side. Love the Ionic 5 looks though.

    No ‘helllllo James here’ other than that another great informative vid. Would be interesting to test the smart cruise with lane keep assist. Having heard many complaints about the steering pulling on earlier cars would be interested to see if the downgraded version was improved, or worsened.

    • @LemonTeaLeaf
      @LemonTeaLeaf  2 роки тому +2

      I thought it was going to be a short video so didn't do my opening line and was weird editing the video without it that's not just a clip video 😆 It could be my imagination but the steering did feel a little lighter not sure if it has anything to do with the RWD. as for pulling nothing out of the ordinary but I'll keep an eye on it while I have the demo/courtesy car.

    I'm also in the UK and have the same P45, so straight after watching this I rang my local dealership to ask when I could have mine updated.
    They say they did a vin check but could not see any updates & had never heard of any 'Battery Conditioning Function' update .... Any idea if it has an update number associated with it?

    • @LemonTeaLeaf

      The Good News:
      I gave all the details you kindly gave to my local dealership and they found it straight away.
      The Bad News:
      To book it in for the estimated 1 hour update would cost £112!!
      I'll give it a miss at the moment, and maybe reconsider it if it has to go in for anything else.

      @@restyle100 Yes that sounds like the hourly rate for a Hyundai Techinican. Maybe try another dealer that might only charge for 1/2 hour for the update? it seems a little random how its left to the dealers to make up the cost.

      @@LemonTeaLeaf This is also my experience of Hyundai poor warranty / customer service. I have an annoying tapping noise which is emanating from the roof. When the dealer said, you need to cover 4 hours worth of labour charges if we cannot find it or it turns out to not be covered by warranty (which Hyundai wood not articulate up front)! So over £400 even if they don't find it. I escalated to Hyundai & they said "it clearly states in the warranty wording that owners may have to cover the cost of repairs if the issue turns out to be non-warranty because our dealers are franchisees & have to make money". I asked them for these "clearly stated words" and when they couldn't they fobbed me off. I then asked for escalation & was told - he'll say tech same thing - but I insisted. Guess what? He did say the same thing so I asked for the name of Hyundai's UK head of customer service and they refused to supply it again fobbing me off by sending me to the body that regulates car dealers - when this is abut Hyundai UK not the dealer.

    Most interested in HDA Vs. HDA2 - due to chip shortage, I my dealer suggested to go with the HDA, otherwise there would be additional 6 to 9 month wait time on top of the 12 months already.
