Me and my wife visited Sinop Prison last year, what an experience. Also, congratulations for not mentioning the words 'Midnight Express' when talking about a Turkish prison. It is amazing the amount of people who still believe that Midnight Express was based on reality. In fact, the film was based totally on lies and portrayed the Turkish people as uneducated, brutal and inhospitable. Something that is the total opposite to reality, as your videos show. The lies of Midnight Express cost the Turkish tourism industry billions of dollars in loss revenue, people employed in tourism lost their jobs, all because of those lies. Hollywood has alot to answer for! And guys, I really recommend you visit Safranbolu, close Sinop which is a World Heritage town. Its stunningly beautiful.
@John Higgins I recommend you research Billy Hayes videos on UA-cam , the guy the story was based on. In his own words saying how embarrassed he was when he viewed the film. Without doubt I wouldn't be in a Turkish prison, or any prison. However, again Midnight Express was not reality.
Thanks Michael ... so true ... and as a victim of crime ... this one is a proper deterrent !! LOL - I have not seen the movie myself and never judge a place on what people tell me ... like Central America and El Salvador ... we were told we would be robbed on the first day ... we were there for over five months and had the best time ever backpacking on chicken buses and walk in hostels ... so we are not really believers of fear, as it paralyses life and adventure ... We are loving our time here and have lots to show !! best wishes Marianne
@John Higgins not really, Turkish prisons are more like how they are depicted in Turkish serials if you by any chance have ever watched such a show. 10 to 15 sometimes up to 30 convicts all share one big cell, its almost like a military barracks with lockers and beds, these type of prisons are common all around in the Balkans.
@@johnhiggins9484 that movie is definitely a scenario made up with lies..it has nothing to do with reality, that's what Billy Hayes said too and repeatedly apologized to Türkiye and the Turkish people..The purpose of shooting this film is grudge..It is a political production with the poppy cultivation crisis in the 1970s.. There used to be a US Military base in Sinop. Up on the volcano. I was there in '88 and the prison was still active. The got mad if we tried to film or take pictures. There was also an old Christian church in Sinop. Mostly gone, but the main chapel still had a roof and frescoes on the walls above 10' that weren't scratched or painted over.

Thank you guys! Interesting. Like here in the USA they use Alcatraz as a Touristic destination. It becomes a financial help for the state and local government who use this income from the tourists to improve some infrastructures. Not only that, like Chris said "if these walks could have talked" means a lot of history in Alcatraz and Sinop. I liked the video guys. Have a safe trip to Istanbul! 👍👍👍👍😜😜😜😜
Well, the prison was pretty freaky to us! I actually worked in a “minimum security prison” in my early years and oh my they had it great compared to what you shared! It’s great seeing you guys! We have been quite busy and have felt like we haven’t been very active but we will catch up! Love you both! 🤙

Hi Dee - Yes we have met a few Americans - just at Ephesus the other day, we met 3 and also a tour bus of Indonesians ... so we have invites there too !! woo hoo !! M xx
Hi both hope you are well. I have a question Marianne, I noticed you use your mobile for voice translates, if you don't mind me asking, what app do you use? We are in Spain if that helps thank you xx
Yes of course! I use Google Translate - online you can use a conversation button (the two microphones) but off line you can download it and just type the sentence you want translating - I hope this helps - M xx

In the article "Justice is the foundation of property" seen in the 6.42th second, Atatürk has his signature. But in fact, that word Hz. Omar said.
Thank you. for the info - M
isn't there a train coming from London to Istanbul..so, land cargo should be of help..
Thanks for the tip Jivan - we have found a haulage company and will share the details when we come to pick it up - M xx
👍👍👍👍
We would like to see you in Safranbolu city :)
Yes ... we came your way for sure !!

Where my hero Diogenes the cynic is from here
No fun video. Feeling depressed now
Why depressed 😂💐 I plan to visit Alcatraz and see where the criminals were held there too !! it is a tourist site and you are not a criminal so why would you be depressed ? M
Looking at places of misery has left me sad. These videos normally are so much more cheerful which is why I like to watch them.
Hi Marianne and Chris
I really like this coastline
Hope you get your battery sorted asap
Take care
Angela xx🐝🌈🇬🇧
Thank you Angela 💐😉🌺 best wishes M xx
Omg 😯 what happened to Marianne ! 😊😊
Ha Ha
Another great place. Alcatraz is brilliant, went 18 years ago. Absolute must. See you Sunday 🤞
Can't wait Linda - it is one of those big names on the travel bucket list for sure - thanks for joining us on the live chat 🌺
İn İstanbul Galata tower’s renovation is finished 🙃
Yes - we have been told !! woo hoo
Thanks Nick and we are delighted you are enjoying the videos too - M
Wow!! What a place! That prison was truly creepy and kind of sad. Trudy looks good, though! 😊 Great video! We loved it. And we love you guys! 😍
It was the biggest deterrent you can imagine !! LOL - I am certainly not going to be doing anything naughty !! love from us 😉💐
Well, the prison was pretty freaky to us! I actually worked in a “minimum security prison” in my early years and oh my they had it great compared to what you shared! It’s great seeing you guys! We have been quite busy and have felt like we haven’t been very active but we will catch up! Love you both! 🤙
Wow - it is amazing the jobs we have in our lives ... We are super happy you are with us and don't worry all of the info is on the Tribe page for when you can be there ... life is a busy place - sending love for us to you - Marianne and Chris xx 😉💐 thanks again for your support and friendship xx
Resmen bizim köyden geçmişler, bunu hiç beklemiyordum. Yaralıgöz Dağı idi o geçtikleri yüksek yaylanın adı.

Thanks Paul - it is a new type of tourist place to visit !! but it was a great one to share - best wishes to the family 🙂🌺
Goodness, that is a grim place! And it's only been closed 23 years? It looks positively ancient! 😯😯
Congrats on the power bank! That should serve you very well once you have it in hand. Hopefully the faff in shipping it doesn't become a huge palaver! 🤞😎👍🦅👀
Yes! Thank you! we should have it when we get to a city further south and will share it as we go - thanks and love to Mrs P !! M
DHL can send it and the battery is not 2500ah like you said in your video, that would be an enormous battery

Hi guys, just watched your video, do you have a link to this solar battery power bank, I doubt it will be 2,000 AH as that would be huge.
We have found a solution and will be sharing it as soon as we have it and tested it - 2,400 wh is the spec though - M
There is a Turkish tv serie called "Parmaklıklar Ardında" it was filmed in Sinop Cezaevi.
Good to know - i will check it out
Ooh, great spot for Halloween views. And the bus!... that was my first thought. Convert the bus! haha. (I'm truly addicted now.) I felt i was right there with you during the prison tour. I actually yelled out at Chris, "No go back, I want to read the writing on the door". lol // Have you ever come across Americans traveling?
Hi Dee - Yes we have met a few Americans - just at Ephesus the other day, we met 3 and also a tour bus of Indonesians ... so we have invites there too !! woo hoo !! M xx
Hi both hope you are well.
I have a question Marianne, I noticed you use your mobile for voice translates, if you don't mind me asking, what app do you use? We are in Spain if that helps thank you xx
Yes of course! I use Google Translate - online you can use a conversation button (the two microphones) but off line you can download it and just type the sentence you want translating - I hope this helps - M xx
