Great video. A word of friendly advise: try to avoid the constant, drastic zooming in and out of the scene. It makes watching difficult. Most news outlets want a reasonably static shot of the activity. Hold a single shot for 5-10 seconds, then slowly zoom and pan. Again, it's a great start-to-finish video. Nice work!
Glad I found this. The fire was caused by the beating-up of Danzig, a heavy metal singer. He started a fight at a gig inside the building, but was punched onto a paraffin heater. 😅 At 4:13, you can see a sign saying "Rock-show" (or similar). How embarrassing!
It’s always a shame when old buildings catch alight. I’m from Glasgow and I was genuinely upset when the Macintosh building at Glasgow School of Art went up for the second time. There was police, WRT’s and all sorts of response vehicles down there for days, it took two whole days to put it out completely.
This was the fault of a prat called Glenn Danzig, an obscure American heavy metaller. If he hadn't shown up to play an illegal gig there, using a dodgy generator, this would not have taken place. I heard he got a thumping from a local bouncer called Pete Streader. Either the fight caused the fire or faulty electrics. Either way, it was Danzig's fault - and that little drone picked up his picture as he waddled down the road with a black eye!
Rumour has it that one of the fires wasn't deliberate as such. We were told that Danzig, the American heavy metal singer, staged a gig in the theatre as part of a 'comeback' tour. The electrical supply was dodgy and his band played badly. Glenn Danzig himself apparently stormed off stage and picked a fight with a man. The man punched him - and Danzig fell into a paraffin-heater (the mains supply went on lighting and PA). This caused a minor fire which was put out with the others. The main damage was to Danzig's nose - and his ego! Glad the building was saved as well as it was. (NB It should be noted that this kind of incident is common with Danzig. You can see a video of him being beaten up by a singer elsewhere on here.)
@@dragonemergencyvideos: That's what I thought too, but we were told Danzig wanted to play a "secret" gig in an unexpected location. He was apparently seen in local pubs earlier telling anyone who'd listen about his "secret" gig! It could all be a rumour, but he's pulled this kind of stunt before. He's under 5'2" and insecure.
@@dragonemergencyvideos: That's a shame - it looks a nice place. Will ask my friend for clarification. (He lives near Swansea while I'm nearer Bristol.) He said it was in a newspaper!
Nice footage of the early arrival, it's often hard to get that! (Had an incident in my area a few blocks away, I heard the dispatch on the radio but the FF's still got there before me! XDDD Anyways, it was a rare "Torq EV roadster" (an Electric Vehicle) that had it's batteries explode! Sorry, no footage.) Sad to see the once beautiful old building on fire. No doubt, it will be replaced with a modernist eyesore!
01:25/01:57/02:26 whoever commissioned/designed the placement and flash pattern of those emergency blue lights on that tanker is an idiot. Crap. Instead of 14 unsynchronised/poorly synched light heads, a proper design would be a box lightbar on the cab (as per usual on other vehicles), grille lights with a full head synched alternating left/right flash pattern, combined flash pattern or rolling pattern of both those (possibly also with white in top grille line instead of headlight flash as can mask indicators with a left/right X pattern, a junction corner light on corners next to top of grille (also maybe numberplate box light) and lights inline at front and rear side of boxing around tank, rear lights to have a synched pattern similar to front patterns (and also rear reds). I'm assuming the large lights on side and rear of tank are white scene lights and cab 360 is an airside amber
That's a lot of cops to a fire. But they seem to be taking their time in getting in and up there. In New York and Boston, they would have had three Ariel ladders up already with a couple of lines inside.
The city of Swansea only has one aerial! The next nearest one would be over an hour away. They were cautious when entering etc as it is a derelict building, so there is was a chance of a floor or roof collapse. The reason there were so many police there is because it was believed to be a deliberate fire
@@dragonemergencyvideos In a UK working theater or cinema, fire is not a problem, since the entire structure and furnishings are non combustible. the exit routes are also completely separated by 6 inches of brick or concrete, allowing smoke free escape for the audience. I have no doubt that the fire brigade had accessed the fire with their rigid hosereels even before the start of the video. Since the building had been occupied by squatters, some combustible furnishings may have been brought in. The only use for the ladder would have been if they had managed to block their escape route with disused furniture or rubbish. Right from the start of the video, you were seeing water vapor, not smoke. The fire was in the office areas at the front of the building that the squatters had occupied, so by design, smoke would not have affected the auditorium or stage areas of the building.

If you are going to add narration to a video such as this please get your facts correct. You are way off the mark on many points you make. And for the record I'm a retired South Wales firefighter with near 31 years service.
There are a number of minor errors, mainly incorrect technical terms which, if you're not familiar with the fire and rescue service are acceptable. However you refer to an "Aerial Ladder", when the correct term is Aerial Rescue Pump", which is clearly visible on the booms. And you state "Mid Wales Fire Brigade", when the correct title is Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service, again clearly visible on several occasions in your video.
@@andyfish2942 So no errors then. Nothing you mentioned is of any relevance to the video. I am a firefighter myself, so I would know this. Many of us still call it Mid and West Wales Fire Brigade, as that's what it's traditionally been called, and it still has 'Brigade' on our uniform. Aerial Ladder is a term more familiar with the majority of people so thats why I used it. It is actually called a Combined Aerial Rescue Pump (CARP) for your information.
If you're going to be specific the CARP, is a 57 plate Scania P310 with Vema 28-2 booms/ladder with bodywork by JDC of Guildford, Surrey. It's also due to be replaced by a Turntable Ladder in the near future. And there has NEVER been a Mid Wales Fire Brigade. On a personal note with the recent and in going cuts to the British fire and rescue services I feel it's important to educate the public of the diverse nature of what the UK's firefighters respond to and that includes using the correct titles, which is why they were introduced in the first place.
