Ustad Hashim Mahmood was a student of Ustad Mian Qadir Baksh Pakhawaji- Khalifa of the Punjab Gharana- who was also the Ustad of Ustad Allah Rakha, Ustad Shaukat Hussain Khan, Ustad Tafo Khan, Ustad Inayat Khan, Ustad Talib Hussain, and many other famous Ustads.
not sure if you guys cares but if you are stoned like me atm then you can stream all of the latest movies on instaflixxer. Have been binge watching with my brother lately :)
subhanallah.i had the honor of listening to him quite often in kabul and germany.he was a class in himself.a deft and powerful tabla player.literally an ustad in the very true sense of the word.may his soul rest in peace.
The great ustad hashim was arguably the most talented afghan musician ever! he composed many great songs including jane kharabat that later ustad sarahang sang!
Hope we have more Afhan mothers rearing children likes of Ustad Hashim who had actually studied and mastered the art of not only playing Tabla, but also harmonium, and writing master piece compositions for many singers like Ahmad Zahir, Mahwash, and many more. Unfortunately, Afghan music is reduced to some video clips displaying body parts, fashion show, and electronic garble. Law of supply and demand is on their side nowadays, we are being conditioned to watching rather than to listening.
A most curious thing. Pardon me if I am wrong, but while playing terekete, his wrist moves right to left, instead of left to right as is the case for the rest of tabaliyas. If my observation is right, then it is the most curious thing I have ever observed, the second most curious thing being mutthi ki dhere dhere.
@sarmalim Dont forget a very important thing. Those videoclips are made because most afghans want and love to see them. Most afghans love those cheap videoclips with those semi-naked girls. Dont blame the singers, blame it on the LISTENERS!!
