18:31 little tip for an even smoother work from someone who has been knitting for almost 10 years: try bringing your stitches even closer to the tip, like really push all the stitches on the left needle to the top of your needle (same goes for the right side) and use index fingers to makes sure the stiches do not slip off of the needle.. if you always insert your needle way closer to the top (5mm to 1cm max), your stitches will be way more even and smooth and they'll all have the same size (instead of some being more stretched than others, if that makes any sense). basically if theres less space on the top of the needle, there will also be less stretching. you might have to get used to it, but it's really worth it + it is faster in the long run because you don't have to push the stitches up as often:))
Ive been crocheting for about 2 years and your tutorials are what helped me learn how to start! I decided that I want to learn how to knit about a month ago but found it kinda hard watching videos and couldn’t get the hang of it. But when I saw you’ve started making knitting videos too I got super excited and found this tutorial super easy to follow! Thanks so much for your videos love them so much!
@divyadewan4087 did I miss smth but I didn't see how she attach different yarn of ball in the process...am I missing some thing? like how do you add new string in that?
I learned how to knit with this video and this was my first ever project involving yarn! It was so well explained and I'm extremely happy with the scarf I made. I ended up restarting it after a first really bad attempt and finished it in just over two weeks. A couple of things I changed that helped me a lot as a beginner: 1) I reduced the number of cast on stitches to 45, which helped me see my scarf get longer faster 2) I didn't count stitches but measured to 70 inches 3) The scarf I knit was black which made seeing mistakes harder but that's probably better for a beginner 😂 I felt less inclined to redo mistakes and was more focused on getting used to the act of knitting. Thank you for such a wonderful tutorial, the rest of my family is now asking me to make them this scarf
Thank you so much! I watched so many videos on how to do the basics of knitting and I never got it until this video. You did really well at explaining everything and showing it on camera :)

Amazing video!! Okay so I am absolutely new into knitting but I do crochet tho! Also super scared of knitting! As a newbie what kind of needle should I buy? Circular or the straight needle? Also what size should I buy? I am totally confused 😢 here is the thing I am interested in making garments like sweater, cardigan, tops, scarfs, Bennie etc... So could you please help me out?? I am totally loosing my mind 😭😭 thanks ❤❤
Thank you! I've been very intimidated to start knitting. But you made it so simple and explained everything really well. I’m halfway done and it's looking really good so far! I'm definitely going to add knitting to my list of hobbies after this😊Honestly the best knitting tutorial I've watched🥰
Thanks for the tutorial, I kinda messed up the last loop when casting off and it star to unknit but I managed to make it closed with a knot. And yeah it looks horrendous lol, I started with 18 loops I think and somehow ended up with 22, so it looks like a child scarf glued to an adult scarf halfway through, technically it's not that poorly made outside that size problem. It was a nice first project, I was initially making a scarf for my 4yr old son and finally I gave it to my 9 months old son as there was no point wasting another yarn to finish a botched project and it was the right size for the younger one. But I will do another one and I will take care to not split the wool and create new loops in the process so this time I could give my elder one a nice scarf.
I bought knitting needles a few weeks ago and every time I try using them I have a mental breakdown 😭 but literally thank you SO much because this made perfect sense and now I love the flow of knitting! I will say I made some mistakes and some of it is uneven, but I'll just hope future me doesn't hate it too much 😂
I haven’t even started knitting, but I loved the repetition in the video. I find myself in any tutorial rewinding and rewinding 😬🙄 Now, I just have to keep watching. Thank you for that! I’m trying to make my first scarf with circular needles. I have used looms before, so I’m a little familiar with knit and purl stitches.
I remember when I used to watch your crochet videos all the time looool now I really wanna learn how to knit, im glad you're making knitting videos!!!!
I did the same thing! But I realized it’s a small mistake with yarn placement at the very beginning when you’re putting the slip knot on the needle. The string attached to the ball of yarn needs to clearly be the back string and the loose one is the one in the front that you’re taking yarn from as you’re casting on. I used this video to figure it out: ua-cam.com/video/UHlsW0wI144/v-deo.html Look at her yarn placement at the very beginning and copy it. Hope you got it!
i learned to knit from my great grandma when i was a little girl and she taught me continental style, so now when i got back into knitting after 2+ years of crochet i was SO confused... all the tutorials showing the english style and i was like... am i dumb, that's not how i remember it haha! good to know there's a name to what i've been doing🤣🤣
When casting on, the two arm lengths of yarn you have behind the slipknot is being mainly used, not the yarn coming directly from the ball. So the two arm lengths of yarn is to make sure you don’t run out of yarn when casting on and have to start over. The extra bit of yarn that is cut off is not the full two arm lengths, but only the excess that was left after the cast on. You don’t have to cut the excess but it might be helpful, so you don’t accidentally use it instead of the working yarn.
Its the toughest one cause its kind of an awkward position with the hands! Keep practicing and I promise it will become more natural and youll get into the flow💓💓
I can’t wait to start knitting a scarf after years of procrastinating!! I have a question: can I also buy yarn that is recommended for 2,5-3,5mm if I want the pattern to be very tight?
Interesting, I wonder if different technique is used in different countries. I was taught instead of wrapping the thread around the needle to move the needle in a circular kind of motion to grab the thread. Achieves the same.
I’d love if you could clue us in how long about this took you🫶I think I was a bit ambitious starting this thinking I’d finish in a week 😅 I’m used to the speed of crochet things working up.
Thanks for the tutorial! I do a lot of crochet and have only knitted a bit, I’m gonna give it another attempt using this tutorial and will make a scarf for my auntie for Christmas! 😊

Question! How do we change balls of yarns once we finish one?
Why is it necessary to pull the two arm lengths of yarn in the beginning if you‘re just cutting it off after? Maybe I missed something? 🌸
Same i didn't get it😀😀
@@Ro_sa200I literally don’t understand that either. But I didn’t do it

A bit of constructive feedback: I wish I knew this required a circular needle before I got six minutes in.
You can do it on straight needles either! Its just knitted straight across, I just didn’t have any straight needles at the time xx
Its right there in the materials section before she starts doing anything
this definitely does not require circular needles.
She shows you she’s using circular needles right at the start, also you don’t need circular
