  • This is a quick and dirty (pun intended) video on how to clean a bicycle chain. I am using the Park Tool Chain Scrubber CM-5.3 and Muc-Off Drivetrain Degreaser. The Muc-Off is really good stuff for cleaning your bike chain. The Park Tool Chain Scrubber can be a bit messy, but I feel like it does a good job of cleaning a bicycle chain by getting in all the nooks and crannies.

Finally a video where a dirty chain is cleaned and not an already clean chain. 💪

As a first step to whole cleaning process I would try to use some brush to remove a dirt and sand from it to not use whole bottle to clean the chain. After that I would start to clean a chain with this tool because this liquid is mainly for remove old grease etc. Anyway its a useful video. High five 😀

Oh I loved this video! Very informative and helpful for my new EBike! Since I know you I may ask for your assistance for “hands on training”!! Best video I have seen for a demo on cleaning a chain! Thx!

I'm glad to hear it! Always willing to lend a hand! We need to log some miles together! Weather's looking great!

I think that the jockey rollers should be treated with the degreaser as well just before the chain, but nice way to show basis with the gear anyway👍

If you want to ruin your freebody bearings, hub bearings and BB bearings this is how you do it. You see all that degreaser fluid dripping off the chain and pulley wheels? Well guess what, it is also going dribbling from your cassette and straight into your rear axle bearings. Then it dribbles from the front chain rings down your crank spider and into your BB bearings. BINGO you just wrecked your bearings. I'm a professional mechanic with over 40 years experience and it makes me sick to see people thinking they are doing the right thing using those chain cleaners, when in fact they are wrecking their bikes! I get to see the sad results all the time. So if you want to clean your drive train, you need to remove your cassette off your wheel and chain off your bike, and then use MUC-OFF in a small tub to clean your drive train. Never ever let any type of solvent or degreaser come in contact with your bike. Believe me, I have a graveyard of ruined bearings and free-bodies to prove it.
