- I am so pleased to have found the Red Wing 9111 Classic Round in Copper Rough and Tough. Copper Rough & Tough leather is the most popular leather at Red Wing. I will pass on purchasing the Rover 2950 since I was able to find these. I prefer the white sole versus the coffee crepe sole offered by the Rover.

The beauty of the cooper leather is that with time scratches, stains, nicks whatever smooth out after conditioning with leather cream and look like one work of art, like those old Caribbean maps shows in cigar humidors, real cool.

No. The Round Toes fit like the Beckman, Iron Ranger and Blacksmith. What that means for me...I go down a half size from my Moc Toe size.

Awesome Video! My 1st RW’s were rough & tough 1907’s.. still looking great 12ish years later. Also, love your Linemen’s, been keep my eyes out for some of those too. The wedge soles give it a good contrast against the leather. Enjoy them!

Glad you got some of those Darn Tough socks. I love mine. I have roughly 10 pairs, my oldest pair is 2 years old. They have shown no sign of wearing thin. Greatest socks I’ve ever worn.

@adrianmeza The Red Wing 9111 Classic Round are not available for men in the US. Red Wing makes a version for women but they are much more narrow in the toes. Red Wing Europe still has these available in stores.
i've found that medium weight darn tough socks works best for me when i'm wearing red wing boots. it's a good combo.

Hi CJ. I use Venetian Shoe Cream on my Rough & Tough Leather. Bought on Amazon. Will not Darken and Gives Some Water Proof.

I live 1hr from redwing mn. I have to say 4 boots later im on my way .
So 2 things. First, the Copper R&T is an extremely porous leather. I’d stick with the boot oil only, for conditioning. If you use the paste(bees wax, pine pitch, and mink oil), it will dramatically change the color of the boot. Secondly, those “Darn Tough” socks are AWESOME! They actually have cushioning properties, so make breaking in new boots much easier. Also, they are great year round.

I have a pair of 9111 too, love it. It’s so hard to keep the original color though...
Copper Rough & Tough is my favorite of Red Wing's oil-tanned leathers. I think it offers more versatility than the Briar or other reddish leathers.
I do love all the characteristics the Copper Rough & Tough takes on as it ages.
They are Way cooler than the NEW/POOR replacement Rovers. Why did they change???

I can't seem to find them anywhere, except on the Japan website, but I can't seem to force a purchase from here in the UK.
You should use your influence to explain to Redwing that nobody really likes the Rover, People put up with/tolerate the Rover until the real Boot Round Toe returns.

Just got my first pair of redwing 1907's in copper as well. Love the leather on these boots but that leather insert made em to tight ..

What’s up CJ did you ever try Redwings leather insoles ? I think they are perfect for for the Heritage line. As far as the copper I think it looks awesome new but if you want them to stay close to that color don’t put anything on them. When you think they might need to be conditioned you should only use Redwings Leather Cream on them. If you do use anything else they will get crazy dark. I’ve been looking for the Round Toe in Copper or in the Ora Legacy. I never cared for the soles on the Rovers but I really want the 8176’s but it’s not sold here in 🇺🇸. Have you ever bought anything from Japan or out of the US ?
Thank you for the tip JJ. I have not tried the Red Wing leather insoles. I have the custom fitted insoles from Red Wing. I am open to trying them I only hesitate because they are full heel to toe inserts so I would most likely size up for comfort or just cut the insole. I have not made any purchases from Japan. I buy from EU all the time. They have some goodies out there.
Just a quick one CJ: I've managed to go to a retailer and try on some blacksmiths as your suggested and some moc toes. The moc toe felt stiff and bulky and not comfortable to me, while the 3344 were hugging my foot with a secure fit. In terms of appearance I would prefer going for an Iron Ranger instead of the Blacksmith, do you think the fit is going to be the same? 8085 or 8111? Hey Luca, The Blacksmith and the Iron Ranger are made on the same last which means they will fit the same. The 8085 is the most popular leather sold by Red Wing. It takes some some beautiful characteristics as it ages.

Hey! The 3141 is in my beloved Briar. I like the chukkas, they are perfect with a pair of chinos. I personally do not have any room for them in my rotation but I will still swing a review for ya.

@@crimson2218 I strictly wear Red Wing boots. I own 2 pairs of Timberland Tack Head boots in brown and black. They are out of my rotation. I also own a pair of grey suede boots from AllSaints also out of my rotation.

What size? How do they fit compared to iron rangers? I am a 9.5, wear 8.5D in iron rangers, and got a pair of 1907s in a 8.5EE (still haven’t received them). Do you think they are the same in terms of length? I got the double EE cause I heard they run way snugger than the IR

I have only 1 pair of redwings (just been bitten with the boot bug) and they are a pair of briar blacksmiths. Given round toes are all but gone, would you recommend this colorway and style as second boot purchase (I can get my hands on a pair in my size but no discount like yours)? Or would you recommend a different style like the iron ranger in brown or black or moc toe in briar? I work in a smart to business casual dress attire office environment. I am not close to a RW store to see any in person.

This is interesting: My initial thought is to go with an Iron Ranger. They would work well as a second boot. BUT, they would have the same feel as the Blacksmith because the currently are made with the Vibram mini lug sole like the Blacksmiths. If you can find a Round Toe do it. I would also recommend the Rover. Both the Round Toe and the Rover look really nice with a pair of chinos and the comfort level is soo nice.

CJ Cook I ended up buying the black prairie black smith boots. Should be delivered today as RW has feee expedited shipping. Turns out the round toe was a Women’s version so now I just need to decide if I want a moc toe or a Rover to the collection.
@@tkdhanani The Black Prairie Blacksmiths are really nice. I was just at Red Wing today and was admiring them. They will be making moc toes in the Black Prairie leather in the Fall.
How does it compare to the Briar as far as thickness, stiffness and suppleness .? Some UA-camr said that it was very mailable and supple yet the name says something else.
Yeah, Copper Rough and Tough scuffs easily. It ages beautifully though.
Hey CJ, how are your feet holding up? Seems you must have some issues always breaking in new boots. I know I do, and I only have a couple of pairs.
My toes stay hurtin'! The socks help. Thick wool socks help me break-in a new boot. I am unable to tell the last time I wore a sneaker. Hahaha!
If you can your better off breaking them in without insoles but thick socks
Yeah, that is the idea. I have been doing that with the 2906s as well.
CJ Cook they’ll mold to your feet better without the insole. In fact you’re better off wearing them without an insole even when they’re broken in. But sometimes you need an insole to fill up some volume.
