In a recent interview, Napoleon shared insights into Tupac Shakur's strategic move to join Death Row Records after his release from prison, describing it as a calculated "chess move." The conversation with Vlad delved into the events leading up to the decision, highlighting Shakur's mindset. According to Napoleon, Shakur felt a deep sense of loyalty to those who supported him, which was reflected in his choice to align with Death Row. The label was not just a powerhouse in the 90s music scene, but also offered a formidable crew, essential for Shakur, who saw himself as coming home to a battle.
Napoleon suggests that for Tupac, the decision to sign with Suge Knight's label was influenced by the need for protection and a strong back-up during turbulent times. Although previous offers to sign with Death Row were declined, the post-prison period saw Tupac primed for partnership, viewing it as essential for his personal and musical mission. The affiliation promised the strength and support he required to make his impactful return to the industry.
There was an interview in I believe it was Vibe magazine where the reporter asked Pac if he signed to Death Row for protection, and Pac said that there wasn’t anybody in the industry who was bad enough to scare him, and that he signed to Death Row because they weren’t scared either. Clearly he had it in his mind that he was going to go up against Bad Boy from the time he got out of jail, and that was perfect because Suge had his own beef with Bad Boy because of that Big Jake situation.
Faxx
No surprise
The other part was to get out of prison, period. There are other interviews where family relatives told Pac that he signed with the devil… Pac said he knows…. He signed a 3 album deal and that’s why he was working like a race horse, producing songs back to back. His first album on death row was a double album and Makaveli made it his third. That’s when the problems started. Death row didn’t considered all eyes on me as two albums.

Tupac said everytime he saw suge he wanted to sign him but he always told him not right now.
It’s on the Wake Up Show
Exactly pac told them no because they wild over at deathrow
Pac was signed to Death Row because his parent company Interscope didn’t want to continue dealing with his legal issues. Those issues were shining a negative light on Interscope and the liquor company that was connected to them. Suge was given x amount of money from Jimmy to take Pac over at Death Row. Pac signed that deal because Interscope did not want to be seen bailing him out of jail. In order for Suge to bail out Pac, he needed the funding. That was where the whole signing to Death Row thing came about. Pac was signing to repay that bail debt. All of what I stated is well documented and stated by all the original parties involved!
That's the they tell you.
@@DJXcalibur i believe it
He didn’t give him a big check for that video. Suge gave Pac $200k for the song pain. This was said in Death Row greatest hits booklet💯
Pac wouldn't had handled the pain them crips put on em for 200K lol
@@223ent facts for a star u have to pay big
Right
From my understanding the song was life’s so hard it was for murder was the case but they never used it on the soundtrack it was later used on gang related with an added verse pain had 2 songs on above the rim that were used
The 2Pac "Pain" song was written from the perspective of the fictional character "Birdie" in the film Above the Rim.
2Pac's verses and technically even Stretch's verses are about the type of life that the character "Birdie" lived in...
Tupac as a actor was working on the movie Above the Rim during the second half of 1993 and the fact is that when Hatian Jack brought over Ayanna Jackson to 2Pac's hotel room in November 1993, Pac had just come from the film set and was still wearing the prosthetic scar make up... cause he was working on that movie and he had vulture fake friends like Hatian Jack and Ayanna Jackson (who knew all of Biggie’s male friends already but Pac most likely wasn't aware of this) and Biggie himself just a day or two before showed up with his boys and carrying illegal firearms that they then acted scared or something so they asked Pac if they could leave their illegal guns inside Tupac's hotel room so days later when Hatian Jack brings Ayanna Jackson and she makes her allegations the NYPD shows up and raided Tupac's hotel room, found the illegal weapons and tried to add federal gun trafficking charges so when news came out in newspapers and TV news reports (not MTV) they were reading off all these charges and really portraying Tupac out to be a dangerous enemy of the state and public.
Imagine you're Tupac and contrary to Vladimir saying weirdo stuff, that you are a rising star rapper and have acting skills... obviously you will have some people hating the fact that you are talented and from their perspective you are taking job opportunities that they feel they were entitled to even though they can't act their way out of a paper bag.
Back the people though Tupac was getting acting roles cause he was a rapper and it wasn't even true, that was a bonus for film studios targeting the Urban market... Tupac could actually convince you he was Bishop, Lucky and Birdie even though the latter was a smaller role cut short cause of the constant legal court dates set off once Ayanna Jackson made her allegations.
Also ask yourself... you have access to the most attractive black and minority female tv show celebrities and possibly some movie celebrities and female singers and rappers... you also have access to the hottest female "fans" that show up but want an extra signature you can't write with a pen... a lot of men have not even reached that level and Tupac wasn't no attractive guy or super hot rapper... he only had a few songs that could be relatable to female fans... the bulk of his songs was for the male hip hop fans and he wasn't mainstream either... you would struggle to find 2Pac's music videos being played on television back then...
Maybe Brenda's Got a Baby got a lot of video play but his other videos?
Maybe Keep your head up got a lot of play too but "I Get Around"? For some reason MTV wouldn't play that video much... if at all... there were attempts back then to somewhat say what videos could be aired or not and you had to realize this if you was there back in 1992 to 1993 to 1994 to notice the difference.
Basically from Tupac's perspective he made the song "Pain" to promote his movie "Above the Rim" and add a layer of story or an additional story which is funny cause that is what Tupac argued with the Hughes Brothers with about him playing a Muslim character and not wanting to insult his own family members who were black Muslims cause if you paid attention to what the Hughes Brothers made as films, it seems like they were more worried about portraying black people as dangerous individuals instead of telling deep dramatic stories... Menace II Society feels cartoonish at times and it promotes the idea that a young black male is dangerous and wild and doesn't reason... even in the Juice film they added lines that mention that Bishop's family home is extremely dysfunctional...
Read between the likes when you watch movies or hear celebrities giving political speeches so you can figure out where they stand.
Signing to death row wasn't a chess move. It was signing his own death warrant.

Signing to Death Row was not a chess move for 2Pac... it was a Death Sentence.... Napoleon shouldn't be biased on these interviews, we know that 2Pac was their master... But he also had his flaws... He died gangbanging for a mere Deathrow chain...
Unfortunately, this is correct.
@@gary1112 If u think about it was a chess move but he misplayed his part that night in Vegas. Death Row or not his decision signing to them doesn’t affect how he is and how he reacts to situations. PAC been buck wild prior to death row. With situations like him spitting at reporters, him performing in Milwaukee and cursing at gang members which almost caused him his life, him fighting Hughes brothers, him speaking crazy on notorious gang members like Haitian jack. With those actions I named, pac putting his hands on Orlando isn’t that surprising like I said pac was just buck wild. The short time he was on death row he had the industry in the palm of his hands everything was going how he planned, he just misplayed that night in Vegas.
He signed to Death Row because they were the only ones who could bail him out of Jail. He was about done with his album clause but died before he could. So close but Pac was Pac, it is what it is.

It don't matter who Trevon said it to. The fact is, Trevon should have handled it himself. That was Trevon fight not Pac or anyone else. No Trevon didn't make Pac jump, but he holds responsiblity in what happens as does everyone else that night who played a hand in Pac death. I warned Pac don't trust them nicca and don't join Deathrow. But,he was desperate to be free abd thought he knew everything. What he didn't know was, those nicca even Suge couldn't be trusted and they had absolutely no loyalty to him before or after his death. If they did, nobody would be living at the hands of MOB Piru or fake azz phony gang " who couldn't protect pac or handle business.
