*Taylor & James Put on a Show* There has always been a meta element to B&B with fashion shows and concerts highlighting a "show within a show" aspect to the series. In Shakespeare (most notably Hamlet), the "play within a play" is used to reveal some deeper truth about the characters and the story. The same thing is happening here in the Morocco storyline which has always felt like a fantasy world - not the real Morocco, and a show apart from the main show. And here we have Taylor putting on a show for James (pretending to be happily married to Omar) because of the show Omar put on for Taylor (bringing Ridge & Brooke to the palace and making Taylor watch them) and James himself had to put on a show to gain entry to the palace (pretending to be Brewster McKenzie). Everything about Morocco is artifice and performance, a curtain and a stage (indicated also by all the flowy fabrics in the costuming and set-design). Yet James enters this fantasy world as an emissary from the real world. He knows the truth about Taylor being alive and the truth about what's going on in LA and he is a fairly reliable narrator. In episode 1959, I said that James could counterbalance the number that Omar did on Taylor by testifying to Ridge’s love for her. But instead, James spends more time _confirming Omar’s depiction of Ridge and Brooke’s happy life together!_ He doesn’t even tell Taylor that Ridge came to him for counseling because he couldn’t stop thinking about Taylor and that Ridge had premonitions about her still being alive. James ends up fortifying Taylor’s resolve to stay in Morocco: the more he describes Ridge’s family life with Brooke, the more he fuels Taylor’s performance of a happily married life with Omar. Why is this happening? On one hand James is serving a plot function. Fortifying Taylor’s revolve delays her return to LA and keeps the story going. But there’s another function too: to reveal deeper truths, as a-show-within-a-show does. When James can’t finish his sentence at 2:30 (“If Ridge knew you were alive…”) it’s because it’s NOT the case anymore that Ridge would leave Brooke for Taylor. The deeper truth being revealed is that the show’s sensibility is no longer with Tridge. And when Taylor declares, “I am literally living my fantasy!” even though the princess fantasy was always Brooke’s, not hers, the deeper truth being revealed is that Taylor and Brooke have switched roles.
Brilliant Nick! I like your interpretation of James and Taylor's lines and your idea that Morocco is a "show" that pulls back the curtain of the actual show.
Excellent commentary! Even the way the Morocco scenes are only set in the palace (no other or outside locations) make it feel like watching a play onstage.
All this Morocco sl is written only to keep Taylor's character away from LA storylines. I have no words to describe my disappointment. I know that many don't bother about Taylor's character, but I really loved her before and during the first Tridge marriage. The Morocco sl was a pain and still is for me .
@@teligon There's so much contrivance and frustrating dialogue in this storyline. Why didn't James just tell Taylor how much Ridge was still haunted by her? *THE VERDICT* Following up on what I wrote yesterday, Stephanie's testimony determined the verdict and the outcome of this storyline. So much so that even her opponents recognized it: Connor, Sally, and even Dylan all thank her for putting out the fire _she_ started. The DA telling Jessica to thank her aunt and Stephanie and Eric's scene with Jessica back at the house where they discuss her feelings and her relationship with Dylan is a way to return the legal drama to a domestic drama. There's something telling about how neatly (too neatly) this all gets wrapped up. Suddenly Dylan and Jessica are on a break even though they were fleeing to Mexico just yesterday? Suddenly Eric and Stephanie are being sensitive to Jessica's feelings for Dylan? Suddenly everyone is OK with each other despite the fact that Dylan could've gone to prison?? It feels like an acknowledgement that the storyline and the romantic leads aren't worth dwelling on. Dylan was acquitted but the final verdict is: let's pretend this all never happened.

Right.. Sudden change from just that morning when she was snapping at them b4 they went to court. 🙄 Girl, bye. Take that behaviour back to your actual parents in Iowa.
The entire conversation between James and Taylor is bizarre. There's something quite insensitive about the way in which James punts the idea that Ridge and Brooke are happily married. Why would he lay it on so thick? If his intention was to bring Taylor home, don't his actions here defeat the purpose? Taylor's defense of her new life is almost comical. The sarcasm is evident in every word. Yet, the great Dr Warwick, who is clearly aware of this, fails to take his questions any further. I guess the one saving grace in this scene is when Taylor refers to Brooke as a "die in the wool commoner". I know many people in this community were probably applauding at that moment😂
James isn't telling it correctly... Brooke wasn't waiting for Ridge after Taylor's death... it was Ridge who did everything to win her back and not make her marry James!
I agree he blatantly lied to his friend to try and get her to return. Because Ridge pursued Brooke relentlessly while she was engaged to James and he left all that out. But, I also believe that they began telling this story about Ridge marrying Brooke for the kids the moment Ridge started pursuing Brooke. In order to show how badly Ridge wants a family and because he will leave Brooke to go raise Thomas. Once they start having serious problems, Taylor wants more kids, which Ridge calls her on. Hence, Steffy and Pheobe come along. I'm not saying Ridge didn't love Taylor because he did. But he was always very much in love with Brooke no matter who he was with.
Yesterday I believed that James is a more trustful storyteller than Stephanie and so Taylor should be able to believe his words. But yes, James leaves out the part when he had been engaged to Brooke and when they even had gone away to get married, just for Ridge following them and interfering (or the steam room prank). Brooke has not waited for Ridge to get over his grief and Ridge has not waited to get over his grief. If Ridge could have played the role of grieving widower for a bit longer, James would have had a wife and two step-children.
@@mara4450 Maybe James left it out because he finally figured out that Brooke never wanted to be engaged to him in the first place. She wanted to live out her romantic tale of Ridge finally doing the chasing after 7 long years

James is leaving a big part out. Brooke wasn't waiting for Ridge. She was engaged to James and would have married him if Ridge didn't crash their plans. Big omission.
Maybe he omitted it because he realized the engagement was a hoax on Brooke's part. She admitted to James that she needs to pursue her life long obsession (Ridge). *Being married to Eric never stopped Brooke from being with Ridge, what makes you think that marrying James would've stopped them?* You left out 2 other omissions: That Brooke asked him to counsel Ridge because he can't stop thinking about Taylor. Also that Ridge has been have premonitions about Taylor being alive
Taylor acts as if Brooke went after Ridge She didnt he stopped her marrying then using the family manipulated marriage Taylor never admitted that even when married to her Ridge loved Brooke too

It doesn't matter if they had the same upbringings. Taylor is a classy woman. Brooke not at all.
@@babs4848I agree. And I don't even think that Taylor always looked down on Brooke either. In fact, Brooke was being very arrogant to Taylor sometimes.
@@scor66 I know, and Taylor could be smug considering the little woman Brooke was.
@@babs4848 That's the thing, it's not about one's background. Class can't be bought. If calling someone out for their nonsense is tantamount to looking down on them, then 🤷♂ She also 'belittled' Ridge by saying he's not of royal decent, but of course all that matters is defending Brooke

cannot Taylor understand that her so called death haunts Ridge and others?
Oh my god Taylor! She's lying to herself and James and acting so totally out of character. Glad when this morocco story will finally be over! Love Stephanie. Eric speaking about character is a joke. I just don't like Jessica, she reminds me of Brooke.. Dylan is cute and I think he deserves better than Jessica.
OMG, Dylan is just horrible. I too don't like Jessica, she just has no personality or charisma whatsoever and so, she is just the contrary of Brooke! Brooke is the real queen of B&B! ❤❤❤
She pretends , she sacrifises her needs and wants for the sake of Ridge's children
me too it is being drageed too long for nothing she loves Ridge and he adores her Brooke is a black spot in his life
I'm betting that James is wondering what is the past tense of "client".

Man, its apparant how useless, worthless and meaningless the charater Eric is and also the actors not great acting isn't really making it better.
It's when Eric says there's a difference between the good way and the right way, and choosing the right way🙄🙄. He NEVER chooses the right way
Taylor telling huge lies about sleeping with Omar. 😂😂
James lying by omission leaving out the part where Brooke would have married him if Ridge didn't ride in on his white horse to rescue her
@blackblake3658 I love "Tridge". Taylor had class, education, great career, made Ridge earn her love, but her emotions she could never manage well. Brooke was and still is a train wreck. Stayed pregnant not knowing paternity, the Forrester men fed into their need to be needed with her lol.
@@aionntecooke7741I was always a Tridge- supporter too. But this morocco-story is beyond ridiculous
@@blackblake3658 rescue her from what. I didn't remember any white horses except Brooke's sandy wedding ones. During her engagement with James she constantly asked Ridge if it was ok for him hoping for Ridge's reaction.
@babs4848 I thought she had some sense but he never wants either of them unless he can't have them. It was stupid for a lot of years before they both just dumped him. Where's that episode???

Ridge just effortlessly snapped his fingers to have Brooke.
@@babs4848 Exactly! it wasn't hard for Ridge
@@mara4450 Maybe James left it out because he finally figured out that Brooke never wanted to be engaged to him in the first place. She wanted to live out her romantic tale of Ridge finally doing the chasing after 7 long years
It doesn’t matter how Ridge and Brooke relate to each other?! They are living a lie!!!! 😢
How are they living a lie they are happy and have no idea that Taylor is alive,Taylor is the one who’s living a lie.
I wouldn't forgive Stephanie and Eric what they put Jessica and Dylan through..... Taylor lied to James very good she's not sleeping with Omar....
I sincerely hope James never volunteers for a suicide hotline. How does a psychiatrist manage to say the thing most designed to accomplish the *exact* opposite of what he wanted?!
🇹🇹🇹🇹🇹🇹 Queen Stephanie was the key! She extended mercy to Dylan by giving her view at the end of the trial.

So Dylan is found not guilty; WHAT A SURPRISE! Jesus, this show has become so predictable it's laughable... 🐸🐸🐸🐰🐰🐰
Eric is gross 🤢 I don't think I could hug him!
*Being married to Eric never stopped Brooke from being with Ridge, what makes you think that marrying James would've stopped them?*
You left out 2 other omissions: That Brooke asked him to counsel Ridge because he can't stop thinking about Taylor. Also that Ridge has been have premonitions about Taylor being alive
Taylor acts as if Brooke went after Ridge She didnt he stopped her marrying then using the family manipulated marriage Taylor never admitted that even when married to her Ridge loved Brooke too
So after all this Dylan and Jessica are going their separate ways?
While one boring storyline finally comes to an end , another stupid one gets intensified please please enough with "morroco"
yes she needs to come home to Ridge this is so silly
Oh, just wait until she comes home and the Ridge-Brooke-Taylor triangle drags on for FOUR YEARS before it gets resolved (for a few years at least).
