Neil's Heavy Concept Album

- Neil from the TV show "The Young Ones" gets his own album. The record company wanted a load of old disco hits but Neil insisted on doing an album of concepts. The result is pretty heavy.
Released in 1984 on record and cassette and released very briefly in 1994 on CD. The original UK cassette contained extra material which was not included on the CD nor the original Australian cassette. This album was remastered and re-released on CD in 2014 including all the extra material from the UK cassette. This upload contains the original album only.
Neil is played by Nigel Planer who also does several other voices, including the cabaret singer. Other voices are played by Roger Planer (The Narrator), Dawn French (Nril's Fairy Godmother) and Barbara Gaskin (Neil's Mother). For further production details, see this page www.discogs.co...
Fabulous album. His heavy metal vocals on Lentil Nightmare are amazing ! Cult classic !
Lentil Nightmare is pure Iron Maiden.

Ah, I find myself here and I never had one of those. Sorry 😬
@@The_Steampunk_Fox Then how on earth did you find yourself here? I had to specifically look for this album in a nostalgic flash + curiosity + enough CBF to search. It can't be algorithm. No references in young ones.... My guess is random algo-served? You have to explain.
As far as I'm concerned: I found this through a Facebook-thread on Bad News and The Young Ones. Never had heard of Neil's Heavy Concept Album before.
Thanks for putting this up Mr Lion sir!
This is a great album. Covers a lot of ground. Standouts are Lentil Nightmare, Golf Girl and the lounge singer cover of God Save the Queen lol. Superb musical chops throughout as expected from progger Dave Stewart as well as being a diamond of a comedy album. Top drawer

How did this become far right?
