- Dracula is already causing quite a stir after embarking on a journey to London.
From Dracula (1931): Transylvanian locals warn solicitor Renfield against going to Count Dracula's castle for business reasons. They dread that a vampire lives there. But Dracula, disguised as a driver, takes him there.

His stare and line delivery are second to none. He owned the character in all levels.
This is so epic...Lugosi is, MUST BE, the actual Dracula, he is amazing
The stare of bela lugosi is truly terrifying,...and .those eyes,....are both mesmerizing, and ablaze with evil intent....
I grew up on these Universal horror films since I was a young kid within ages of 7& 10. It happens that "Dracula" is one of my top favorites along with "Frankenstein", "Bride of Frankenstein", "The Wolfman" to name a few!
He is the True Legend
I still get chills looking in his eyes.💀
I love the nuances that Bela Lugosi gives to Dracula. After devouring a beautiful girl like an animal; he walks around London as an extremely fine, elegant, attractive and sensual gentleman and goes to an opera performance because he is a man of good taste and exquisite culture.
Dracula going to the opera after killing the flower girl was in the script, it's not a "nuance" Lugosi gave Dracula.
@@Ceej_MM It's obvious that it's part of the script, but the style and finesse with which Lugosi plays him is excellent: being a cold-blooded killer who never loses his elegance. He's not a monster, he's a superior creature.
@@John_Lostar I have a bridge to sell you. In Brooklyn.
People normally think of Dracula as rotten to the core n unsympathetically evil. But this line about true death being glorious adds a dimension to Dracula's character. Maybe deep down inside, he resents his immortality n sees it as a curse
People normally think that because he is rotten and absolutely evil. Bram Stoker wrote his character exactly that.
@@olegslapins8156 Yes, but only because vampirism itself influences them. The curse in of itself in unholy, even in the book Mina asked the gang to pity the Count for the exact thing Jacky brought up.
I think he does see it as a curse, but the one which can end only by his true death, which is not really an option you would look forward to. He seems to me more selfish than evil, kills in order to survive, not for pleasure. But even that depends on the way how he is portrayed in the movie - somewhere he is just an evil being who kills both for the need and for the pleasure.
He is an evil man that selfishly destroys others to prolong his life unnaturally, because he lives in fear of the judgement for his evil doings he will meet after death. He wants a cowardly escape from his wrongdoings, erasure, because he is in fear of any consequences for his actions he will face in the world after. He desires to truly die, because he is a coward. It's part of why the crucifix is so effective against him, it is an in his face reminder of what is to come after he dies.
The one & only Dracula.
Sir Christopher Lee is a brilliant Dracula too :)
My favorite verbal exchange with Dracula. Great line and great touch with the house lights going dim as he delivers it.
I'm 48 years old and as a child I got to stay up and watch a program at 12:00 midnight called memories of monsters! The program aired a different black and white thriller movie on Fridays. I absolutely loved the old movies then and now!
4:10, when someone talks about horror movies (interest intensifies)
Els de ridder Hamme
Always so polite.
From murdering an innocent flower girl to begging for the sweet release of death.
The accent is perfect for the part of the Count
Unfortunately all in this video are now dead and alive in our memories
What was he implying,”far more worse things than death “?
To be undead and suffer for eternally like he does
July 2024 - I can only imagine the sheer fright or feeling of horror when movie audiences saw Bela Lugosi's face and cold stare in 1931. Superb acting for future generations to enjoy.
Dracula said it because he watched the Twilight saga
He probably thought to himself that the Twilight movie "sucked!" And he was right.
Got an impressive line of jibber jabber has the old Drac.
Count Lugosi! Strange his name almost sounds like "ghost" Bela "Lu-ghost-y" because he's a ghost.
Lugosi was not his real name. He was from the town of Lugos, thus Lugosi.
@@panos2160 sorry. My mistake. I was just using the word "ghost" to help me remember.
HOW DOES HIS CAPE STAY ON ITS ALL I WANT TO KNOW

Does anyone know if this locket that Dracula wears has any meaning?
That's a medallion he's wearing.
@@christiandenault7606 I know it's a locket he was wearing. What I asked was the meaning of this locket, what it represents.
@@eternalmourning9613 it's based on the actual medal awarded to Count Dracula during the 14th Century Vampire Wars.
@@christiandenault7606 Oh this is interesting. Thank you very much for clarifying my doubt. 😍
@@eternalmourning9613 no problem!
I've been watching these Dracula clips. I think they're hilariously bad.
Es tecnología cinematográfica de 1931, hombre!!...😑
Lugosi look so elegant and classy , he would still stand out in today's society. Born to wear a tux.
Yes and this movie is ninety years old
Not a tux, a cape.
@@donkeyslayer4661 both
He was an extremely elegant actor portraying
Dracula ❤
@@randyacuna3248 sort of both you’re right
"To die. To be *really* dead. That must he glorious!"
"Why, Count Dracula!"
"There are far worse thing awaiting man... than death."
I love the way he says that last line. The way he staggers the words 'than death'.
Classic horrors are the best
Universal Monsters plus Godzilla & King Kong are the greatest horror icons of all time fuck slasher movies & any bullshit today that is passed off as horror
Agreed. Four minutes and not a single jump scare...today's horror directors should take note.
Bela does not look 49 at all! He is the perfect Dracula!
I wish someone looked at me the way Bela looks at Mina. 😔
He really was a handsome devil...
He was 549.
It's a shame that the top hat, gloves, cane, cape, suit and tails was THE most elegant clothes a man could wear around a hundred years ago.
After this movie, it's just seen as, "the dracula costume" when in fact it was just what he wore, to appear as a very rich gentleman.
The whole suit is still the epitome of elegance, but if you ad the cape........people think you're just dressing up as dracula.
So sad, as the cape is the crowning jewel of the suit!
Whether it is red, white, cream or black lining on the inside, it looks AWESOME!!
The good old days!!
Excelente aporte tu comentario del vestuario. Coincido contigo al 100%

Lucy is proof that goth chicks were always a thing
RIP Bela Lugosi (1882-1956) you’ll always be remembered as Count Dracula
I love the old horror movies 🎥
Same here with me as I grew up on these Universal horror films since I was a kid within ages of 7 & 10.
Bela Lugosi as Dracula is perfect!
The sad part is that he wasn’t universals first choice. Damn you universal.
If only to have lived in 1931... and be able to control women with eye contact |
Draculas like wtf shall i do tonight?? Well better roll on over to the movies (I mean theater) then just chillin like (the original) villian
We need more vampires like Bela in Dracula. Y'know...we just need Bela. 😂❤️ I miss this guy so much. He was the best one in my book. Not saying the other's weren't talented as Dracula. They just weren't Bela. (Not to be rude or dismissive 😬)
Lugosi as Dracula was so elegant, classy, debonair and very handsome! The epitome of tall dark and handsome in a Tux.
@@karenhummel49 Honestly, if I could go back in time, I would do it specifically to meet him. He seemed like such a cool guy.
Sir Christopher Lee is brilliant as Dracula too :) Béla and Christopher are two great actor legends.
@@davidhujber8636 I commented that before discovering Christopher Lee's brilliance. He's become my new favorite. Also, Peter Cushing was amazing as Van Helsing.
@@eharper7 I like Peter Cushing too :)
The Count is very first class gentleman, and well behaved. To be honest, I like his father-figure.
Timothy Dewa what do you mean father figure
@@mal_3157 I think he means he gives off paternalistic and fatherly vibes. Very masculine, yet suave.
The way that Count Dracula looks at Lucy Westerna, with those evil, piercing eyes, is absolutely bone-chilling!
Dis Dracula Spooky asf

Opera by Richard Wagner
Lugosi cut an elegant figure off-screen as well: a very well-mannered gentleman who stood 6'1", quite tall in the 1930s, when the average height was 5'8".
The average height is still 5,8 I think
I used to love ❤the old Horror Movie😈🎬
I thought this was the most powerful scene in Dracula.
Aparentava ter uns 35 anos e não os 49 que ele tinha. Esse ar jovial aliado ao charme do estilo aristocrático fez dele um vampiro social e não assustador
Bela was made for that part!
Epic scene 🎥 and spot on performance by Lugosi!
Bela Lugosi IS Dracula!
4:05 I LOVE the music here! It's so dark and ominous
The music combined with Dracula's facial expression revealing what his true intentions are

I could recite this movie line for line by heart by the time I was 9 years old!
Did it not scare you as a 9 year old?
@@firesonic1010 You know, maybe a little! I started watching these movies as a young boy and didnt think much of it, I guess they seem creepier as an adult!

Some Dreams are worse
He was so seaux cool...
People compare putin to dracula.
Both are slavs with intense eyes.
Dracula was Hungarian, not slavic
A real man why can’t men act and dress like this anymore with elegance and class! Bela legosi is classy . Men today and teen boys are severely lacking in the ways of elegance and class!
movie is not scary, it's laughable and he is very far from being 'handsome' :DD
This was from the 1930s, so the content of horror films were different by today's standards. Plus, even if you don't find Bela Lugosi handsome, you can't deny he had personality and acting abilities. Him and Christopher Lee's Dracula are my favorite, but Gary Oldman...eh could've been better.
I run into people who hate mirrors and crucifixes, drink blood, turn into bats, wear a cape, intensely stare into my eyes and verbalize without cursing, and keep their brides in coffins everyday in my neighborhood...we must be extended neighbors. Do you know what's scary to me.......people who are dumb enough to give "spare change" to the garbage can holding a sign at the exit ramp near my house.
The movie still maintains its frightening look.
Beautiful ladies in this scene.
Creepy and strange ungodly behavior
Lol what are you babbling about? This is a movie and these are actors/actresses.
What is worse than death or killing someone
Living forever
No tip!?
Dracula Dead and Loving it :)
Christopher Lee narrating this really BROUGH IT UP A FEW LEVELS !
