Can anyone explain how protesting about the slaughter of Palestinians AND Jews can be described as antisemitic? Additionally, can anyone explain how criticising the actions of Israeli government and the IDF can be described as antisemitic?

    • @user-ou1pm7mj1l
      @user-ou1pm7mj1l 3 місяці тому

In itself it is not antisemitic. However, Israel is held up to a higher level than any other country, which initself is antisemitic. There were no same protests when the utter devastation of Yemen by Saudi Arabia and Iran took place, as 1 very recent example. Israel has lost the moral high ground, lost the media war & lost the real war, it has a right wing government which has not helped itself and Israel will be in the wilderness for many years to come. However, where the argument then leads to Israel's right to exist and zionism as nazism is antisemitic. Israel has the same rights as any other country to exist and defend itself. Palestinians have the same rights to have a state but until Iran, Russia, Saudia Arabia, Europe, America, Egypt all agree on a solution a two state solution will never exist.

There is no outcry or demonstrations about mslms killing mslms in Yemen and Syria, Chinese persecution of mslms, mslms slaughtering Christians in Nigeria and Madagascar. That'a what makes criticising Israeli govt. and IDF antisemitic because of the hypocrisy. Antisemites don't like Jews and they like it even less when the Jews have thier own country. I hope that answers your question. The IDF have gone extraordinary lengths to save the lives of Gazans and the war and danger that Hamas have put them in. Yes the Tories are ace at scapegoating, divide and division. The latter causes distress, anxiety, anger then hate.
The Tories have greatly underestimated this type of leadership. All actions bring about reactions and 14 years of the Tories consistently implementing policies and legislation that clearly caused the division then the reaction they have gravely caused is what we see so evidently today.
Then there is Reform, GBN, Talk Talk and the press all have increased this hate.
The media have journalists that will not call all the above out but go along with it. The media and citizens seem to attack the people who do try to take it on.
Sunak and his speech were outrageous the Tories again play the scapegoat to deflect from themselves. Tories are well this lot are Toxic vile and extremely dangerous as is Reform.
The UK is very divided in many different ways close to eating itself with hate.
Never have I seen the Torie party unite the country they always cause great division
What the UK requires is a political party that is going to unite the citizens, unite the union of the UK and take the citizens with them to achieve that outcome.

The Tories are supporting Israel because they get told to do so by the Americans. So just what is the difference between the Palestinians forcing our hand and the Americans forcing our hand in a thing that has nothing what so ever to do with the UK?
As for the guy who keeps saying Lee is wrong, well he could end up being known eventually as Mr Wrong. Well we had Harperson, didn't we!

not so long ago andrew marr did a piece on how great and liberal the uk was compared to the european continent. being from germany i can tell you the kind of talk coming from the tories would be deemed right wing extremist. the german afd/ our brexit/reform party adopts language like that, though even them would be more careful than what liz truss, anderson, braverman, and the rest of the tories are doing.

The afd was literally running anti head-scarf ads on billboards at one point though. I saw them with my own eyes and it definitely felt more extreme to me than this. The rhetoric is definitely becoming worryingly divisive though

That, sadly, may be a reason for the rise of the Right in Germany and other European countries that I;m sure you know about. You do not have to agree with demonisation, scapegoating or xenophobia. But where these are expressed by significant numbers of the population, the underlying issues and their more apparent manifestations have to be addressed by 'liberal democracies'. If they are not, it is the intellectual flexibility, rationality and balance within liberalism that do not allow it to calibrate existential threats. In other words, we cannot not recognize that we are not trained to see.

Yes.... the issues germany has with xenophobia might be more wide-spread than they are within the UK, but our politics is on a massive sprint towards bottom-feeding such as we see in the USA and other places where reality is no longer a consideration, and the fastest way to achieve that is to highlight as much 'nastiness' as possible and try to normalise it.
Their behaviour is truly disgusting to the majority of the nation, though, no matter how loudly they pretend ortherwise. Hence the refusal to have an Election.
... I suppose if one were to be generous, and go looking for a silver linnig, one could argue that exposing the stupidity of British discourse *might* lead us to a better level of politics sooner than would otherwise be the case, but I'm not going to pretend I think that likely.
Sunak may wish to de-cry mob rule (ironic, given that were the mob in charge he'd have been thrown out day 1, and that he is unelected having lost the only election he stood in to the nation's most despised politician... he's rarely been accused of any level of self-awareness or integrity) but his party and those paying for it are determined to keep stoking /driving the mob mentality of politik-via-emote.
It is after all, the most effective way to distract the masses in the short-term, and all that politicians in the UK care about is the short-term.

@@geordievillanSo we're just going to ignore all the terror attacks across Europe for the last two decades and pretend that the perpetually rising "far right" is for no apparent reason?

@jamesarnold7253The Tories need to go, but you're naive if you think the issues we have with Islamism and divisipms we now have are just going to magically vanish. This is the new mult!cultural normal.

12:08 "Giving Sunak the opportunity to use an attack that he really likes to use, and to make it relevant" - and completely taking the wind out of the sails of that attack, since Starmer's point was "I did something about that, what are you going to do?"
