The S9 and XZ2P are both beasts. Both have their pros and cons. Both phones have separate goals, S9 camera was adjusted a bit warmer with its saturation for aesthetic reasons pleasing to the user's eyes with lively colors. XZ2P's goal is leaning more towards trying to get the actual color of the surroundings rather than saturate it as well towards a warmer image. If you are a photographer, the choice will be Sony for reason already mentioned. If you are "my photos look pretty and colorful" dude, S9 is definitely the phone.

I am using Samsung S9 for 4 months and still think Sony Xperia XZ2 Premium is good for more natural tone of colors on camera. Sony Losses with focus speed, 960 fps time range, night exposure with S9. But the picture quality is most important and that's where Sony stands for! Sony XZ2 premium clearly the best for camera picture quality!

XZ2 Premium has excellent dynamic range, and higher autoset exposure, which in itself is also good as gives more highlight to the object of the shot. If you want to learn how excellent dynamic range of XZ2 Premium is, please go to Matthew Monitz compare to P20Pro, where he used manual mode that negates autoexposure, which you obviously mistake for dynamic range.
Not all those pictures can be given the same intake of dynamic range by turning down the exposure. Sony probably doesn't go as hard on the HDR to maintain good colours and "pop". I'd like if that Matt guy adjusted his exposures (ironically) in some of those comparisons, because he turned HDR on the p20pro, but didn't adjust the exposure of foreground objects to match the xz2p

There were a whole lot of samples here in which they both exhibit the same amount is details and brightness in the shadows, but the Sony phone fails to show details on the brighter areas whereas the S9 does not. The same happens when you compare it with other phones too. And the Mathew video doesn't make the P20 Pro justice because that phone takes images with higher dynamic range (yes, dynamic range and not simply exposure) when setting it to 10MP and using the auto mode. Anyway, the P20 Pro isn't really THAT great with dynamic range either when capturing scenes in brighter lighting situations. It's great in low light though.

Samaung also uses Sony Image Sensor, so if Samsung in some case beats sony for very close difference then it's becasue of Sony. But in this comparison Sony used best sensor for it's own device instead of giving it's best image sensor to Samsung Galaxy S9 unlike all the time.

S9 has a faster focus, I ll give it that, but just got seriously owned by Xperias camera here, what a lowlight shooter XZ2 Premium is... Wish you d make a compare of extreme lowlight video without light sources, thats where the real extra power of Aube Fusion kicks in. And also hdr lowlight video, Xperia just rules that part.
I find both kamars of the phones are very good. But the sound at Sony was really awesome. At the merger you heard quiet noise, which was not the case with Sony 👌 I have only had Sony Xperia myself and am totally satisfied. Good camera, good sound. Nevertheless, Samsung is not bad either.

When I open the main camera on my Xz2 Premium you can hear a white noise coming from the camera itself while it is active so can someone explain what that noise is ? It's kinda like the static you'd hear on old TV when you search for channels but softer.

I'm a Sony fan, but I hate XZ2 camera. On paper, XZ2P looks like a huge improvement, but it's probably not what I expected
I wish people would stop using sonys default camera app for taking photos. it makes the quality so much worse. Open camera improves quality over the default app sony uses. This is coming from a sony xperia user

Samaung also uses Sony Image Sensor, so if Samsung in some case beats sony for very close difference then it's becasue of Sony. But in this comparison Sony used best sensor for it's own device instead of giving it's best image sensor to Samsung Galaxy S9 unlike all the time.

Excellent work the camera of the Sony z2 Premium 👌. The only thing is that in the colors or the gamus is very over very high and in the day photos it looks too clear in the Sony... Samsung I must learn from the ranges that has the z2 Premium and raise the ranges a little but not so much ..

Wish you d make a compare of extreme lowlight video without light sources, thats where the real extra power of Aube Fusion kicks in. And also hdr lowlight video, Xperia just rules that part.

I find both kamars of the phones are very good. But the sound at Sony was really awesome. At the merger you heard quiet noise, which was not the case with Sony 👌 I have only had Sony Xperia myself and am totally satisfied. Good camera, good sound. Nevertheless, Samsung is not bad either.

S9 better colour management and dynamic range
When I open the main camera on my Xz2 Premium you can hear a white noise coming from the camera itself while it is active so can someone explain what that noise is ? It's kinda like the static you'd hear on old TV when you search for channels but softer.
