When I was on Ark Royal in '78 I was a 'projectionist' in my spare time.
A 16mm projector in the FWD dinning hall for cinema.
We got extra money for showing films. I think it was £4 a time.
You could make £30 a month showing films to the lads.
If Ray the Pray wanted you to show a Pat Boone happy clappy
movie in the chapel it was £7
I used to love being the wafu chef that set up the projector and we would sit and enjoy movies on the big screen.
It was me who got the projector off of the table in the dinning hall and back in to the projection room with a long throw lens from MOD flown in at my request.
I made a proper cinema on Ark Royal.
We got some cinema hits, the week they were released, and lots of old classic movies to show.

And did anyone notice the whirlwind I worked on them as late as 1975 at Lee on Solent SAR bit old but still saved a few lives no night flights weren’t up to it

Good quality film, with good colors. Also an interesting change in colors when we go for shirtless sailors and Sea Vixens to a more colder look with the Scimitars and everybody's dressed again like its the North Atlantic.
