You nailed it, he changed his style to be more conducive to offense. After the Bivol fight he changed his style to come more forward because Bivol was not initiating offense and was also countering
He was great despite Charlo not wanting to engage. I think Canelo beats Benavidez, with the latter not having any defense, suspect chin, less power, less iq, less experience not much going in his favor
Don’t forget Benavidez has no footwork he walks straight forward and squares up way too much for a pro. That’s where experience comes into play. An experience boxer knows not to square up and why. It’s gonna be another Kirkland type fight we’re Benavidez is gonna come out throwing bombs than canelo is gonna start countering him once david feels the power he’s gonna change game plans and not engage as much so he won’t get countered.
@EvilDead_Editz so if he was so hurt by David why didn't he lay flat on his back with 2 more rounds left in the fight? David is not going to beat Canelo 😂😂😂
1.) Canelo having stamina issues is a myth. Any boxer whom exerts his amount of force while planted will look tired or worse too after 6. Also Canelo’s new defense is experience like the greats and heavyweights whom use guard shells for offense and defense. Thanks for the video
@EvilDead_EditzBenavidez will get destroyed by Canelo. The guy has no defense, leaves his body wide-open, and couldn’t drop Plant like Canelo did. Get your next “but he should fight this [your new guy]” ready lol
We literally didnt learn anything, he didnt have to think about anything so he wasnt mentally fatigue he dictated the whole pace of fight so he didnt gas out..what i learned he didnt display great foot work or lack there of...and his jab isnt great or he would have used it against bivol
you do know footwork is positioning, right? Footwork isn't your ability to dance around the ring and look flashy. In terms of footwork, Canelo FAR outclassed Charlo's footwork. He cut the ring off on Charlo and positioned himself perfectly to cut off any escape Charlo had. @@PunchDrunxTake
Thanks for the comment 👊🏻 Yes I think his opting for efficiency has definitely helped his stamina. He looked solid by the end of the fight against Charlo.
Charlo wasn’t that opponent to test his stamina, charlo didn’t press any action, I think Benavidez or Morrell can test that as they are full fledge 168 pounders, it’s not the same throwing punches at your tempo, while your opponent is trying to survive, where as you’re punching and they’re punching back while you’re trying to reserve your self but your opponent keeps throwing back and you have to force yourself to defend, that drains energy, and the charlo fight didn’t answer the stamina question.
@@nefarious559besides bivol in recent years who else can do that? It won’t be benavidez he doesn’t even have power to stop plant. Only two guys I can see are Bivol/beterbiev.
Spot on and Great analysis - I do not think people are talking about it, but he has developed his own style and is heavily on the defensive side. His form is very conservative and that helps him to conserve his energy at that weight, without gassing out.
Hands down, this is the best analysis out there right now, even better than Abel Sanchez or Tim Bradley. Thank you ! May I also suggest that his new high-guard defense not only conserves energy but allows him to stay close to his rival in order to land the hard hits. This version of Canelo would have beaten and possibly knocked out Mayweather.
Thank you for the comment/compliment! Much appreciated 👊🏻 Yes the more consistent offense Canelo is applying is via constant pressure which goes hand in hand with that high guard. Would be tough to pressure someone while holding your hands low 😬 As far as this version of Canelo vs Mayweather I kinda refrain from playing with that hypothetical matchup cause idk what weight they would fight at. Mayweather really was a 135-147 fighter whereas prime Canelo is 160-168.
Thanks for the comment/compliment 👊🏻 it would be more interesting than what we saw, but honestly I just think Bivol is a bad style matchup for Canelo. Sometimes it’s just how it is.
@@Harrys_Hook it is a bad style for presuure/forward, no jab , no angle, bombing Alvarez....but an Alvarez with a jab and set up would change the dynamic. Might win, maybe not...but it would be a much more competitive fight regardless
Canelo will ko benavidez in my opinion. Benavidez doesn't have good defense. Benavidez punch from different angles but hes guard sucks and canelo will knock him out.
Really strong video - good analysis - and enjoyable. I'm not sure Canelo is evolving as much as styles make fights - and he adjusts his style for each opponent. But your analysis is very persuasive. I keep asking if he's so great - why couldn't he figure out Bivol - or the size was just too much to overcome.
Thanks for the comment 👊🏻 I primarily showed video from the Charlo fight since that just happened, but like I said in the video, he’s been fighting in a similar style the past few fights (why I included some video from Canelo vs Ryder, vs GGG 3). As to Bivol, I give some reasons as to why he lost in my Canelo vs Charlo preview/prediction video. In short, it was a matchmaking error: too big, too mobile, too good a lead hand, too disciplined, totally wrong style matchup.
It’s true that he’s a very well-rounded fighter. I do think Crawford has an argument for most complete fighter. And yeah 168 is Canelo’s best division at this point. Really hope Canelo vs Benavidez gets made. If it does, I’ll create a preview/prediction video with my thoughts on the matchup 🥊

Best analysis that I’ve seen. Upper body movement is extremely tiring. Look at how exhausted Canelo was from utilizing it in the first GGG fight versus in the second where he pressured Golovkin and conserved more energy by being on the offense.

Why would he change something when Charlo let Canelo walk him down, Canelo fought exactly how a bigger, stronger puncher should fight a smaller guy...walk him down and put it on him. Right - as I said this fight provided further evidence to the change we’ve seen in Canelo in his recent fights. He walks his opponents down with a high guard now whether they’re a “smaller” or bigger guy. Thank you for the comment 👊🏻
@Harrys_Hook Canelo is the only fighter in this generation that actually evolves as a fighter. The Mayweather, Cotto era he fought different.
