Time for a parts washer :) I have two questions for you 1/ Why do I watch your video's I don't have a Range rover and in 27 years in the USA I have only worked on one and 2/ before watching any of you video's I pour myself a large G & T
Same pump as series one SD1s used, and by my research, when trying to find one, a lot of US cars use. Hens teeth to find, I sourced a new one last year. My SD1 pump has spun the bearing, leaking from it, changed the seals, use Loctite on the the, all hunky Dory for a while, then the pump was intermittently not working, nasty in the middle of a turn, fitted the new instead.
Glad it helped, the part number for the kit is ABU7142. no idea where I got this but do an internet search and you will find many suppliers providing the kit.
Hi This might sound strange but do you know how to up the pressure on the pump. Im using the exact same pump on a mile marker hydraulic winch. I would like to up the pressure slightly. Any advice would be much appreciated Regards Wesley South Africa.
Hi Wesley, not sure but suspect that like any other pump you add tension to the spring in order to raise the pressure. Easiest way to do this would be to drop washers in on top of the spring before nipping up the outer nut. Be very careful, ATF is a bugger to get out of your hair and eyes

that 2nd thumbs up was from me
Good video for somebody looking at repairing said pump!
And very little profanity so this proves a simple operation. Good job Richard 👍
I edited quite a lot out 🙉😇
Clever piece of engineering, this! My pump is 40 years old and bone dry (on the outside) :) Thanks for yet a super useful video/instruction! Cheers
Richard great to see that even a such experienced Mechanic needs fotos to remember how to assemble again.
Indeed I do, if I did these things everyday for 8 hours I probably wouldn't but then I would be so very bored with my life

Yes you will need reliability and consistency with something like steering and also braking
Thank you so much it is very useful. It is the only video on this and I can now replace my seals. Which motor factor did you get the seal pack from?

@@churchhouseclassics hi thank you.
I have done that. Only real way to check the pressure now is put a pressure Guage on it.
