The ideal length of a video must be around 30 minutes, the shorter videos are of course ok! A video longer than thirty minutes becomes difficult to watch. Thank you for this video.
@@JForrestEnglish Hi, your videos are remarkable, full of great learning method strategies. I have a question : could you explain to me the meaning of " bias vs prejudice please in a simple manner, with different examples. I will greatly appreciated.
You can't disown grammar rules that's for sure , but according to my personal experience is much better to experience those concepts than learning them by heart. Language for the most part is supposed to be natural, so, you won't have much time to process dialogues in your brain because the response has to be almost as immediate as your listener's (unless you're conversing with a pretty patient/carefree person lmao). As a Colombian, my approach to English has never included textbooks since I prefer to get the information I need by exposing myself to the real life situation instead being a passive observer. And if you don't believe me, I bet you know how to use all your own first language structures perfectly without actually knowing their name but you don't spend the whole moment ruminating if it was present perfect or past simple. Why? Because you acquired all of those features contextually. I recommend that you start living English step by step as if you were a baby that was born in America
teacher Jennifer, what a super helpful video!🔥 Thanks for letting me know about these horrible advice.🧡 I'm happy to say that I adapted your amazing advice and tips that you previously taught.😎 I'll definitely avoid these horrible learning advice that are killing my English fluency.🤞 I'll give it a go!🤞 Thanks for sharing this million-dollar video.🧡 you rock.🤩
I studied Grammar, a little bit of Phonetics and of course, Vocabulary. BUT I practiced a lot at the same time, that's how I learned how to speak, understand, write and read the English language 'cause it's useless to study if you don't practice, I mean, if you don't speak the language whatever language it is, you're right about that Jennifer But, definitely what helped me the most is the fact that I lived in the USA for almost 10 years 'cause I had a lot of practice, I used to speak English about 70% of the time and I used to speak my mother tongue 30% of the time, I think I learned a little bit more. But i think and feel that I've lost fluency because that happened a long time ago, that's why I subscribed to your channel Jenn and I'm subscribed to some other channels too. And I agree with everything you said Jennifer, 'cause you're right in everything you said. Thanks for reading my comment.
Yeah practicing is the key but you gotta study first. You ain't gonna learn how to speak, understand, write and read the language just by listening to music in English or watching movies in English without knowing anything about Grammar, Phonetics and Vocabulary. If you don't know how to structure the language, you won't be able to convey your ideas or thoughts correctly If someone tells you you don't have to study, either he/she's lying to you or he/she doesn't know what he/she's talking about.
That's why, your some videos are based on 5 to 10 phrases and idioms. In fact, if we recall entire phrases or expressions at once we often unable to utilize them in our day to day life.😢
Nothing can be truer than this piece of advice I can attest it firsthand, after a long time acquiring knowledge i started speaking and getting more info each day and in less than a month i witnessed a huge progess talking
There is teacher Jennifer to put her students on the way to master english. For me english isn't now a stranger language. But I still need teacher Jennifer
Thanks so much for the helpful insight! Only a caveat regarding some repetitions: OVERWHELM = overcome, overpower, exhaust - ADVICE = guidance, recommendation, instruction, opinion, direction, suggestion - English Test : IELTS, TOEFL.
From my point of view, I don't think grammar is the cause to prevent you from speaking English fluently. Grammar is the connector from word to word, how can you make a full sentence without grammar? If you don't have grammar, you can speak broken English only. Broken English limits your speech to the least, your partner can understand what you say by the context or by your body language, and by your non-verbal communication only. Thank you Jennifer so much for your hard-working lecture!
I'm gonna tell you something, Jennifer. The only words, expresions, idioms... I need are that ones used in "Friends", in "The Big Bag Theory" or in "JForrest English". Every other words are useless. So I see U in next video.
This is the reality of learning a language. I worked with a British company abroad for more than six years, as I remember I didn't use more than five tenses for example: I never used the past perfect tense and complicated grammar... And it was enough for me to accomplish my job as a material Engineer successfully, especially in the technical language of engineering. Of course that doesn't mean not to improve my language and make it understandable as well as impresses my listeners. You have discussed the very important point of learning English and your advice should be followed... Teacher Jennifer your efforts are highly appreciated and thank you 😊!
All the English learners are invited to learn this video by heart. Like you said in a previous lesson " Knowledge without action is useless." and a little bit of imagination. Thank you JForrest, you are unique. Paolo from Italy.
Thank you, Jennifer, for your valuable advice. I agree with you that we should start speaking and writing in English as soon as we begin learning it, rather than waiting until we have an advanced vocabulary. IMHO, the vocabulary should be developed simultaneously with the use of the language. You're the best! 💯🩷
