As well as Synthwave Dojo, another great drum sample resource is the free IV Vintage Drum Machines pack, it's got a load of samples from a pretty ridiculous number of drum machines. They're not always perfect quality, but definitely worthwhile digging through it as there's tons of great stuff in there. Still making my way through the video but very much enjoying it! Love this sort of content. I used to always focus on chord progressions first, I figured it's easier to work a bass & melody around a harmony as opposed to finding a harmony that works well with a melody and/or bass, but I found tracks started sounding very similar. So good to see other methods!
Thanks for the tip, will have to check out that drum pack! Ya this is just one method, lots of different ones, so I'm hoping this will help people get started. I sometimes start with chords as well, but I find Synthwave great for using bass as a starting point.
Hey! Great video to help getting things started! Starting and finishing a song is always the hard part for me. My humble suggestion would be to have a template to work with so you don't always start with a blank page. Love your packs BTW!
Thanks for watching and your support, I'm glad you liked the video! I've been meaning to get more into templates, but I also enjoy just starting from scratch in a way. But I do highly recommend them for improved/faster workflow. I just personally haven't adopted one yet.
I don't understand Fl Studio sometimes. Some addons like yours are just greyed out and don't work. Also, out of all the guides I've watched so far, you are by a mile the best teacher. Edit 2: I have learnt more in this vid than in 20 others.
@@based2222 unfortunately not all presets are easy to recreate, some impossible. I did my best to recreate a bunch of sounds from the 1st 3 packs. I do see myself releasing another pack on Vital but it won't be for a while.
Hey S. Designer. I’ll be receiving my first midi today (mk3 mini). With monitors, interface headphones etc due Thursday. So I have the basic’s coming together but yet to decide on a DAW. What do you use? Also, I’ve been playing guitar most of my life so with that in mind and synthwave chillwave being my target. Thanks man!!
@@TIPPYtoeup ya I use Fl Studio but take your time and find one you like. In reality they all do similar things and have their own advantages. I just enjoy FL studio and don't see the need to change. I play a little guitar as well! I don't have any specific recommendations for guitar driven music there. I actually listen to synth and chillwave to get away from guitar music haha Enjoy the process and let me know if you have any questions!

It's possible I have a different version that you. Which add ons don't work for you?
All of them don't work, I'm new so I don't have a clue what's going on
@@Christygram which version did you buy?
I have fl studio 2024
Everything should work if you bought the producer or fruity version. I would contact support if something isn't working.

Arp sounds like a cinematic score. Doesn't sound synthwave like. But good work. I like how you approach things with workflow.
Thanks for watching. Maybe you're right about the arps, but I think the principles can be applied similarly.
How do I get synth wave essentials in to vital?
There is an "import bank" function in the menu. Find the download location and then it should appear in your presets.
@@SynthDesigner Thx! Will the other synthwave packs be available for vital?

Just use emulations of 80s synths and you should be ok @@based2222
