Thank you for talking about Mikaela Shiffrin! As much as I love watching baseball alpine skiing is my number 1 sport. I remember when she won her first race and everybody knew she was gonna be special. She won her first World Championship Gold at age 17 and her first Olympic Gold at age 18. She's also such a kind and down to earth person as well, well i've never met her personally everyone I know who has says she the sweetest person out there!
The most amazing thing about Mikaela is her race is the Slalom and she has won 3 times in the Downhill, not to mention her wins in GS and Super GS. I don't know what a good analogy is, but maybe an offensive tackle playing QB and winning a playoff game. It's crazy.
The laws of association football (soccer) includes the following passage ‘If a defender starts holding an attacker outside the penalty area and continues holding inside the penalty area, the referee must award a penalty kick.’ However, in this case I believe the players dramatic fall to the floor to get inside the penalty area has deceived the referee into giving a penalty. It was a free kick at most.
There's a rule I'm trying to remember from my soccer days but I can't come up with the word for it. I'm pretty sure there is a rule that says, as a defender you can't come to a complete stop to block someone from the ball you have to always be making movement towards the ball when there's someone behind you. Not sure if it also applies to an attacker.
@@KungFuKenobi Impeding the progress of an opponent means moving into the opponent's path to obstruct, block, slow down or force a change of direction when the ball is not within playing distance of either player.

If the ball is within playing distance, the player may be fairly charged by an opponent.' Which in my opinon makes what the attacker does fine as the ball is in playing distance.
I saw the Roughnecks play and it was really well designed in my opinion because it didn’t set up like a more “traditional” double pass play. I believe they had this rule in 2020 as well and on the few occasions it was used teams seemed to run plays just like the double passes in the NFL except they were able to throw the first one forwards. The Roughnecks play disguises it a lot better.

As a football fan, my main here issue is that 93:30 is the 94th minute (not 93rd) and 98:30 is the 99th minute. I have learned to live with "PK" though. I'll never be OK with it... but I can live with it.
I wonder how many more titles Shiffrin can rack up? She's already the best ever in her sport and she's what, 27? I figure she can ski at a high level for another 5-8 years? She can create so much distance between her and 2nd place from now until she retires. What a beast!
She separated from her coach and her boyfriend is a downhill champion. Especially after his “interview” of her, I wonder if she’ll start skiing more speed events (Super-G and Downhill)… Would be insane if she can win the downhill globe. Not that she isn’t already, but it would absolutely seal her as the best ever.
In the soccer game, the attacking player had an advantage position so he stopped in a clear effort to shield from the defender which is allowed. The defender has to go around him, not pick him up and throw him. However, the foul occurred outside the box, so it should not have been a penalty, only a free kick, even if he allowed for advantage to see if the attacker doesn't fall over, etc.
I really enjoy your content! One thing to note in soccer - when the clock shows 93:xx it is the 94th minute not the 93rd minute (since the first minute is when there is from 0:00 to 0:59). Thanks for the great videos!
I like the 2 pass rule. I always loved the flea flicker. This makes it even more dangerous. It also gives teams an incentive to have a second guy who can throw it.
If the second pass is a live ball it would be a little more fair ? Not sure if that’s the status and how is that filled on if so? It’s live it touched behind the line ? Once it passes the line? That’s a game changer and I can’t imagine a first forward pass behind the line is a live ball. Imagine the replay officials on this one!
1) FOTW is B. Love a kid seeing themself on the ‘Tron and going, “Mom! Look!” 2) I don’t know if USL has VAR or not, but if it was me who was officiating, I’d definitely call an infraction of some sort and go to VAR to see if it was a pen. Clearly shouldn’t have been taken from the spot. 3) The 17th at Sawgrass (where The Players is held every year) always has its hole cut on the last day of the tourney in a spot that encourages holes in one. That chip-in from the drop zone was pretty flukey and cool, though.
Not an expert on the nuances of soccer rules, but I grew up playing through HS, and this is what the more knowledgeable coaches who played in college told me to do as a striker, to a t. Seems like a textbook drawn foul, and by the time he was down and the foul was called, the ball was clearly in the penalty box.
I worked at a golf course for a couple years when I first got out of the service, and I will attest the to Slow Roll hole-in-ones 2-cup positioning. Now, the real hole-in-one was the third guy who did it with a single bounce straight in the cup! The first two were simply the location of the cup placement on the hole. Ask the fellow who put the cup where he did if he did it deliberately.
The soccer clip is why Haaland is such a phenom, he can do everything Benzema can but he can also outrun, outjump and block out the strongest and tallest dudes out there. And if you can block a defender with the very limited means the sport allows you to use, it's either a great striker or...a shi7 defender being forced to make up for bad positioning like in this clip. Free kick.
It has been quite awhile since I refereed High School football, but more than one forward pass was legal under Federation rules as long as each pass was made from behind the line of scrimmage. In fact, a receiver could catch a forward pass beyond the LOS, retreat behind the LOS, and then throw a forward pass. From what I gather, you can no longer throw more than one forward pass, though.
Fan B this week. Also, while I think the bounce right into the whole is cooler (if I played golf I'd rather do that), the slow roll is probably the better one to watch with that anticipa
For the soccer clip, contact like that where they’re tussling with each other is allowed and so is trapping your opponent from getting to the ball. Just don’t actually push them. And as for the penalty call, based on my previous sentence, the supposedly illegal contact was on or right before the goal line so I can see it being a penalty or not.
The 2 pass full will increase scoring . A forward pass one can release the DBs to tackle. When this rule fails to release them it makes running lanes and/or frees up the WR as we saw. Once that forward pass is used the defense has it in front of them.
If the XFL can hang around long enough for OCs to figure out how to use it I think it'll be on the shelf alongside the safety blitz, or the option to the RB who can throw. Not stored next to fake kicks and the binder full of "kickoff returns, when down by 6, with 3 seconds left" gold that every STC keeps under their pillow.
Pk instead of free kick is crazy but the "trap" on the defender is legal and just a smart play on the striker's part to win a better position on the ball. Contact is legal as long as you're not holding and using your hands, or tackling to slow the opponent down when you have no chance of making a play on the ball.
I had a hole-in-one in Mario golf just like that final shot, and yes the single bounce in is easily the best. I can still remember that N64 shot like 25 years later.
To explain the soccer one: its the arms. Forrest Lasso (Tampa Player) is grabing and pulling the Indy player the whole way. It was judged that the foul continued into the box thus a penalty. I think the penalty call was wrong but everything else on the call was right.
He went down in the box which does justify the PK. It's not when the tackle starts but where it finishes. More important, it's the spirit of the rule which is "Did the defender (through the penalty) prevent the player from a potential score?" In this case, he's all over the guy and when he tumbles, the ball is in the box. PK. It makes sense if you think about fairness. If it didn't exist, defenders would just tackle anyone who went into the box knowing they'd just get a free kick (which they can block). Kind of like why they have the offside rule....to prevent offenses from sitting in front of the goal and cherry picking. Just a rule for fairness.
The only hole out at 17 that needs to be covered is Freddy Couples slam dunk for par… that’s right par. Tee shot in the water 1st stroke, he tees back up as his drop 2nd stroke, hits it into the cup on the fly for par. Just search Freddy Couples hole 17 TPC slam dunk par
Whatever that weird cousin of beatboxing was in the opening 30 seconds shall henceforth be known as "Jomboxing" and we must come together as fans and demand more of it, on every video going forward. That is the signature catch phrase of the channel.
For the Penalty in the soccer clip: if contact is initially made outside the penalty area, but it continues to happen (like in the clip, how the defender is holding the attacker as he tries to go forward), if the foul continues to happen into the penalty area, a penalty kick will be awarded. Pretty much, the attacker kept fighting to get position, referee played advantage until the foul happened inside the penalty area, awarded a PK. Imagine it's like in football if there's a defensive pass interference call, and contact is initially being made at the 15 yard line, but the WR keeps running while the Safety is holding his jersey, the WR almost catches the ball on the 2 yard line. The PI foul was happening from the 15 yard line to the 2 yard line, so where is it placed? With this rule in soccer, they essentially place it at the 2 yard line.
The usl portion is a little off, jomboys. It’s a penalty cause the foul is continued into the box. It’s not where the penalty starts but where it finshes. It’s also a foul because the player has positioning and the green player comes thru his back, not shoulder to shoulder. Also the pk celebration is “I can’t hear you”.
Honestly all passes that don't cross the line of scrimmage should be considered laterals, which sould then allow another pass to be thrown but would also mean if it is dropped it would be a fumble. Seems like a fair compromise and would actually give the defense some benefits.
Soccer clip is the easiest foul call of that refs career, but the attacker threw themselves forward to trick them into making it a pen instead. Honestly I'm not even that concerned about it becoming a pen considering how blatant the foul was and it was close to in the box anyway. Meanwhile the defender is complaining that he got boxed out? Does the people he usually play against just let him take the ball off them?
Could go either way on the soccer foul, but not a PK in any universe. Ref was close to midfield when it happened, and it can be tough to judge exactly where the goal box line is from head height at that distance. Line judge probably had a better angle and should correct the center ref.
My ruling on the football foul would be free kick outside the box and a red card to Green player (although many refs would only consider that a yellow card). Green is definitely holding, he's climbing all over him, jumping on him, elbows in and around the face area. Just bad play. While the laws of the game say that if holding starts outside the box continues into the box it's a penalty, I feel like Green had let go before entering the penalty area. Maybe the assistant ref is certain it was into the box, or there's a better sideline angle for a replay and it would be a PK. Red card for denial of an obvious goalscoring opportunity (no matter if it was ruled a free kick outside, or a penalty kick). Green's holding preventing Red from getting to the ball and getting to the ball would have been a one on one with the keeper. I can see why they only gave it a yellow card though, the argument there would be that the player doesn't actually have the ball and there were defenders & the goalkeeper, which only makes it "stopping a promising attack" which is a yellow, rather than "denying an obvious goalscoring opportunity" which is a red.
The soccer one 3:16 is definitely a foul; but it was not a penalty kick (🙅🏻♂️“pique”). The taller guy was probably angry because of the yellow card, not just the foul.
That is pretty interesting, might not see these flea flicker type plays all the time. Might see a lot of passes to the flats and receivers pump faking, or fake screens and then the receiver bombs it. People might like it or not, but it is by definition more dynamic.
Love ya jomboy! Love how you are doing 1994 sportscenter if the anchors had full say in what is shown on tv, but you had a horrible take when you said that maybe the golfer wouldn’t of celebrated his Ace if he would of known 2 other people were going to do it as well. Imo, a hole in one is worthy of whatever celebration you so chose and I’d bet you couldn’t care less how many other people do. An ace is an ace!!!
Clear Goal-Scoring Opportunity rule in the soccer foul. Dunno if that league even uses that rule but IMO when you have the guy in a bear hug you can't complain.
Soccer clip: Clear foul and a good call, the attacker has the right to use his body to shield off the defender as long as he's making an attempt to control the ball which it looks like the ball is going towards him before he's pulled down. He goes down pretty easily after contact but that's part of the game and it's still a foul. However the foul occured outside of the 18 yard box meaning that it should have been a free kick outside the box not a pentalty kick. How they missed that is beyond me as it wasn't even close to the box.
Getting a hole-in-one is ALWAYS special. Most golfers go their entire lives without getting one. Wild celebrations regardless of what anyone else does is always warranted.
The XFL rule is pretty much the same as the NFL except you can do slight forward pass rather than it HAS to be backwards. But I see it as pretty much the same as the trick plays w/ slightly more options for disguising since you can make it look like some type of really short screen/pass route.
It's a weekly show for the most part. He was late last week so we got 2 this week. But like a weekly recap of this stuff is great. If watch it on longer form to but whatever he wants to make I'm down for it lol.

JFC... during the opening, for a second I thought he'd skipped the official EYMTYNPOW theme song. But Jimmy delivers, as usual.
Whatever that weird cousin of beatboxing was in the opening 30 seconds shall henceforth be known as "Jomboxing" and we must come together as fans and demand more of it, on every video going forward. That is the signature catch phrase of the channel.
No.
Jomboy media rocks
I am betting the Venn Diagram of Jomboy and NPR fans is pretty slim, but Mikaela Shifrin was hilarious on Wait Wait Don’t Tell Ma.
Haha used to listen all the time
For the Penalty in the soccer clip: if contact is initially made outside the penalty area, but it continues to happen (like in the clip, how the defender is holding the attacker as he tries to go forward), if the foul continues to happen into the penalty area, a penalty kick will be awarded.
I’m a huge St Louis Battlehawks fan. Where are all my XFL fans at?
Here. GO HAWKS!!
KA KAW
C is feeling it
C is my vote, maybe because she's cute or maybe because she's got some moves. But you'll never know.
I can't believe how much I like that double forward pass in the XFL
Fan of the week is D, but he’s definitely thinking about C. Great hustle this week guys.
Honestly, that soccer penalty was brilliantly baited.
The soccer one 3:16 is definitely a foul; but it was not a penalty kick (🙅🏻♂️“pique”). The taller guy was probably angry because of the yellow card, not just the foul.
I loved that XFL play its like when you see a new skateboard trick or somthing
I choose C
That is pretty interesting, might not see these flea flicker type plays all the time. Might see a lot of passes to the flats and receivers pump faking, or fake screens and then the receiver bombs it.
People might like it or not, but it is by definition more dynamic.
This is some quality sports content.
The intro song for this show destroys me every time 😂
Yeah, love it. Jimmy is doing what we would do alone but he does it for us. BBBGHHH, DOO DOO CHHH, PPPPPGH, CHH CH, BBBLGH.
@@miked51 Nailed it
This is my new favorite thing I didn't know I liked.
Get some ultimate frisbee in these videos! There's lots of great highlights
Clear Goal-Scoring Opportunity rule in the soccer foul. Dunno if that league even uses that rule but IMO when you have the guy in a bear hug you can't complain.
That does look like DOGSO. USL uses FIFA rules. Red seems correct and the penalty was correct because the hold continued into the penalty area.
Damn that intro banged hard today. Nice work
Soccer clip: Clear foul and a good call, the attacker has the right to use his body to shield off the defender as long as he's making an attempt to control the ball which it looks like the ball is going towards him before he's pulled down.
But I see it as pretty much the same as the trick plays w/ slightly more options for disguising since you can make it look like some type of really short screen/pass route.
d with the double jerk is my kinda fan
My vote is for C!
The one bounce in is way cooler. It's so rare and like getting all net on a full court shot in basketball
Two forward passes will be used a ton! You won’t have to worry about laterals at all. And they will be quicker to develope.
I think the first pass should be a fumble if not caught, but otherwise I like the rule. D.
D is the FotW for me, got the double milkers going.
To be fair, so did C (I still vote D though)
@@samsquanch7253 C takes the cake in my eyes
FOTW: B gets my vote. C had my attention though.
You didn't say use your heart this week, so my head says "D."
More of these when you can please, Jomboy
It's a weekly show for the most part. He was late last week so we got 2 this week. But like a weekly recap of this stuff is great. If watch it on longer form to but whatever he wants to make I'm down for it lol.
