@@peterc4472 The Christmas carol here originated on Ukrainian territory which makes it Ukrainian and not Rusyn. The Rusyns in Slovakia claim it because they have sung it. They sing it because the language is the same as Ukrainian and they understand it in spite of speaking a dialect. Ukrainians and Slovaks differ in religion language and understanding of themselves as well as living in different borders. Hope that explains

If you want to think that Rusyny in Slovakia are different from Rusyny in Ukraine that is your idea. But do'nt talk communist to me... Nova Radist Stala was composed in Ukraine. If you distance yourself from Ukrainians so be it, but do not claim what is Ukrainian to be Slovak/Rusyn!! I think your Language is a dialect of mine because I understand it fully and while not slovak, you claim that I an Rusyn. But I am not. You are in a minority along with some in US and Slovakia and Poland. But I go back to the kolyady that are Ukrainian and did not originate in Slovakia or Poland. They mean much to people who think like you because they have been sung by them because they have the same language (but use a dialect). That's the truth. Lemky in Poland were destroyed by the Poles, their properties confiscated and even my ancestors village there was destroyed and also their graves.
