I recently bough this same stabilizer from rc. And after trying to figure out their instructions on their manual. I decided to watch your video. It was so much easier seeing you install it. You got a subscriber. Thanks!
I live in Japan and finding Jeep stuff is a little bit of a pain, sometimes. I need to find a place to get those cotter pins since you're not supposed to reuse them. Anyway, I'm lifting my Cherokee XJ myself and your bastard pack, leaf spring, and coil spacer videos have been indispensable, Matt.
i watched this video as i was installing my stabilizers and it was the perfect "assistant" helping me put this thing on, great viseo, i already subscribed to see more videos like this one!!
Great video. I was in the middle of installing the exact system and came across the stubborn bolt through the tire rod end. Seeing that this is typically an issue and watching you adjust it with a hammer was just what was needed for me to complete the job. Thanks
I just removed my 1999 XJ's very rusted steering damper ball stud. I applied some cheap penetrating oil, left it overnight, then tried a normal (not hinged) TRE puller, and as I torqued it down the puller hooks actually started to separate and come off of the drag link....the ball stud was THAT rusted in place. I noticed that the Chrysler Puller tool C-3894-A called for in the service manual to do the job is a hinged puller...perhaps that keeps it from slipping off like mine did. So I went to Autozone and got a loaner #27170 hinged puller (with two cross-bolts to prevent the hooks from separating, and a surface at the end of the screw shaft to bang on with a sledge hammer), then applied a 50/50 ATF/Acetone mixture to it, and torqued it up as far as I could without feeling as if I would damage it, then banged on it with a hammer, and the ball joint STILL wouldn't budge. However, I left the puller on there overnight, and by morning the ball stud had popped out.
Bradley Campbell soo long story short... don't drive fast over thpse really bad bumps in a truck or anything with that kind of link suspension in the front? Ill just take that as a yes (jk and just replaced my dampner, hoping the rest of my suspension is fine for a while)
Good video and helps me understand the purpose and installation technique.I have a 1990 Bronco II with 3 inch lift and 31x10.50 BFG,s.I am going to get the Rough Country with the kit that comes with it.Mine is not real bad but always looking for ways to improve the steering and any tire wobble at certain speeds.I subscribed and looking forward to looking at your videos you have posted on your channel. Thanks for the information Matt!
This is not related to the video but I am getting my first vehicle and it is a Jeep XJ I was wondering what you would recommend in a toolbox to keep with me? I will be doing some off roading but nothing major.
i have a 2000 xj. it has the 1 ton over the knuckle y link steering. i bought a steering stablizer because im running 35s on a 6.5 lift. my tie rod has a bracket that the stablizer fits to. but no bracket on the steering arm itself. can i hook the stabilzer to the tie rod and still have same effect. its weird it does not have death wobble just lose steering.
can you buy adjustable sway bar discount bars. im running 35s on a 2000 cherokee and course the sway bars will not reconnect can anyone tell me where i could get longer ones
My daughter is having the 4th steering box installed on her 2001 jeep tj this week. The garage can't find anything wrong with it so they replace the box. A few days later she tries to leave and hears a pop! It has been in the single digits cold, she was having trouble shifting in to 4x4 prior and there was some death wobble after the 2nd box was installed. We are 900. Deep at this point. Any help would be soo apreciated. Thanks.
it there a way i can install this dual steering stabilizer with a JCR Jeep Steering Upgrade 1-ton | Under the Knuckle - UTK with out buying this kit then getting the rancho steering kit
There you go. Get bigger hammer or hit harder, but beating the side of the receiver wields everytime. EVEN ON THE DAM HONDA'S ! God Bless you and yours.
hello, im follow your videos in the web and i have a question, recently im lift 2 inches my cherokee, do you think is necesary change the steering stabilizer for new one or the factory standar works for it,
I have the same set up, and on my jeep my tie rod end hits the quick disconnect sway bars link at a full right turn, yours looks pretty far away. any suggestions ? it hits the clip where it disconnects
Also, my death wobble is pretty severe. I can't get over 50 mph without it shaking violently. My steering stabilizer is rusted out so bad underneath and I hope this fixes it because I never had a problem with it last year. Could it be a different issue other than the stabilizer?
Check your tie rods, ends, track bar, control arm bushings, ball joints, u joints, ive replaced everybit of that on my jeep drove it for awhile and it did it again.. Checked my stabalizer and it was busted so i guess the broken stabalizer counteracted with the way it drove. Replaced it and fixed it. But hey at least ive got a ton of replaced parts!
BleepinJeep. Hello, so since this is your most recent video ill ask you here. Do you think a 1993 Jeep Grand Cherokee Brake Booster will work on my 1991 Jeep Cherokee??? It had the terrible bendix 9 abs system which i have taken out.
all except the damper bolt and nut (the one he uses to hold template at the 2:00) download the instructions it tells you everything i did before i ordered but after a yr i have had a major problem it sat high enough tht a cple of bumps caused my transmission line to leak
sorry if this is a stupid question but I got an 04 grand cherokee with a rough country 2" spacer lift, do I need dual stabilizers or is one good enough?
Why do you make this look so easy? I love your page, and you need to move closer.. So um.. I can invite you over for bbq.... No mechanical puns intended for teaching short cuts..
Great video, I just found this channel. I have a 2000 Jeep Cherokee with the Rough Country 4.5” short arm lift. Should I put the dual steering stabilizers on?
It's not, the only purpose of having more than one is for looks because apparently adding more shocks to your axle looks cool. A properly set up front end doesn't even require a stabilizer, it's just there to nullify minor vibrations and shimmies from the road.
Description explains it, " When running tires 33-inch and up, a dual stabilizer can be a huge help in improving steering control. Works on 2.5-inch to 6.5-inch lifts. Gain the creased vibration dampening you need and prevent wobbling with this 50/50 valved dual setup."
Josh Squire You don't need "increased dampening" when running bigger tires, that's just hoopla. You can run a front set up properly, not have a steering stabilizer, and never feel a thing. The only point of the stabilizer is because solid front ends are often hard to dial in perfectly, so it soaks up the small shimmies that come from the road.
jklossner6251 What kind of experience do you have in off roading? What do you drive? How long have you been working on vehicles? I have driven everything from a Go kart to a tractor trailer off road. I have been working on vehicles (not just cars and trucks) for about 23 years. I am not saying your wrong or that i am right, but what i have learned over the years is that when you hit a big hole or rock having that stabilizer there to take up the shock helps.
I've got a question for your bro. How do you know when it's time to cut your losses and sell a "broken" Jeep and get one with a better "base"???? I have a 98 ZJ I6 and i have like 2500 into it total...but now the front differential is destroyed and needs replacing. Don't have the skills to do it so that's more $$$ for install...IDK, suggestions. (prob a personal choice but not sure what to do, front diff swap is outta my skill set)
JohnnyDragon25 Problem is that its hard to sell without fixing it anyway. Just watch more of my videos, I'm sure you can figure it out and get one from a junkyard and just swap it in there. Or if you have the money just buy you a new toy and forget about the trouble.
LoL. Well i have both options on the table lol. Trying to get my buddy to help find and install since he's a Jeep guy also scoring a 2000 WJ from a coworker for 400@(hopefully) lol. Yea,just sucks to not have anything in driveway right now BleepinJeep
I doubt that one end of the stock stablizer is 3/4" and the other is 18mm, Jeep peobably wouldnt use mix-n-match fastners, but if it worked who really cares! Nice vids matt!
Forget the pickle forks if you want to get these joints apart everytime within 30sec each get the ball joint separator #99849 at harbor freight or online if your area doesn't have a harbor freight. I've taken my whole steering apart in 5 min with little effort before and no hammers were used.
I have a off road zj and would love a dual stabilizers steering on this xj looks the same is it? I'd like to just get something like this and put it on I've looked around and nobody seems to have one for a zj specifically.

I laugh every time somebody watches one of these videos and proceeds to tell everyone how useless these stabilizers are. Not everyone wants to spend a ton of money on a their old trail rigs front suspension. Sure, some suspensions don't need them as much as others, but on most budget lifted solid front axle vehicles with 33's or bigger tires, they DO help with minor death wobble problems (if its not caused by loose suspension parts. Most of the time death wobble is from a lack of castor because of the lift), and they DO help the steering feel more stable on bumpy roads. Its like telling people they are stupid because they didn't spend a ton of money like you did.

That stubborn bolt is still in place. I have soaked it with penetrating oil and hope it will give later tonight.

got mine installed! love them! Thanks Matt for the introduction to this very nice product!😎👊💙
Was it a worthwhile upgrade?
that could be a good start to addressing death wobble. stopping the initial wobble is crucial.

got mine on today! hope I like it! thanks Matt!😎👊💙
Found it 😂 so young!! Tell ya cam quality is pretty good for the date 😅
Like your vids. It just helps me with the work I want do on my truck, a big thanks
Looks great but im not sure from an engineering stand point if added stress to mounting positions is prudent
Matt, you should make a "Bloopers, Outtakes, and deleted scenes" video
Haha, that would be good! I whacked my head pretty hard the other day on camera!
Made the job look easy, hopefully mine will be just as simple, without loosing skin!
This is not related to the video but I am getting my first vehicle and it is a Jeep XJ I was wondering what you would recommend in a toolbox to keep with me? I will be doing some off roading but nothing major.
First Last Thank you!
Damnit right when I thought I'd see some feedback in a comment. Removed! Ffs *flips table*
those t50-t65 will help since a lot of old jeeps have em
What’s the benefits of dual stabilizer as opposed to a single stabilizer?
It may be obvious but why two stabilizers, Mat? If for larger, heavier wheels/tires, at what point does that become practical?Thanks..Bob
Hi Matt.
What about the dust coats? Aren't they unnecessary?
will this work on a 97 zj jeep also with 4" lift and 32" tires
i have a 2000 xj. it has the 1 ton over the knuckle y link steering. i bought a steering stablizer because im running 35s on a 6.5 lift. my tie rod has a bracket that the stablizer fits to. but no bracket on the steering arm itself. can i hook the stabilzer to the tie rod and still have same effect. its weird it does not have death wobble just lose steering.
My 1994 jeep w. is leaning to the left side, would you guys know what the problem is? Thanks
I installed a 2” lift in my 99 XJ will this help with slop
can you buy adjustable sway bar discount bars. im running 35s on a 2000 cherokee and course the sway bars will not reconnect can anyone tell me where i could get longer ones
I have a stock 98 xj. Im replacing the damper anyways. I don't plan on lifting it. Is this still a good upgrade to have?

@alex dill it could be u-joints are bad on your wheels
I'm sure this has been addressed, but what's up with the mix of standard and metric fasteners? Is it standard for all year XJs?
What about the protective bellows?
What Happens if you have the IRO over the knuckle steering and want to use dual stabilizers????
hello, im follow your videos in the web and i have a question, recently im lift 2 inches my cherokee, do you think is necesary change the steering stabilizer for new one or the factory standar works for it,
Nice video matt i have on mine steering is good and tight good on the trails and street tnx
and was also curious could you do this at home? like with just a wrench or do you need to the power tool?
yes i did it with just hand tools and a cple of rbfhh lol
Hey, Nice video. Let ask ya a question, Can ya run steering stabilizer backwards ?
any available for Colorado 2015 z71?
could you install two of these, one on each side?
I have the same set up, and on my jeep my tie rod end hits the quick disconnect sway bars link at a full right turn, yours looks pretty far away. any suggestions ? it hits the clip where it disconnects
I have to same issue. Did you find a solution?
Just ordered a skyjacker hydro 7000 for my 1988 XJ Pioneer.
Also, my death wobble is pretty severe. I can't get over 50 mph without it shaking violently. My steering stabilizer is rusted out so bad underneath and I hope this fixes it because I never had a problem with it last year. Could it be a different issue other than the stabilizer?

Can you do this on a 2001 WJ??
Unrelated to this video how did you get the pressed in bolt on your lower sway bar mount out mines pretty stuck in there.
I used heat, I've got a video on it coming soon!
BleepinJeep. Hello, so since this is your most recent video ill ask you here. Do you think a 1993 Jeep Grand Cherokee Brake Booster will work on my 1991 Jeep Cherokee??? It had the terrible bendix 9 abs system which i have taken out.
Use a pitman arm puller and a punch
Use a pitman arm puller you can rent them for free at autozone
***** Have you seen my brake booster video? I dont remember which years work with what offhand but you might watch that video to get a better idea.
does it come with all the new replacement bolts?
all except the damper bolt and nut (the one he uses to hold template at the 2:00) download the instructions it tells you everything i did before i ordered but after a yr i have had a major problem it sat high enough tht a cple of bumps caused my transmission line to leak
sorry if this is a stupid question but I got an 04 grand cherokee with a rough country 2" spacer lift, do I need dual stabilizers or is one good enough?
One is plenty for a 2" spacer lift, considering the the largest tire you could run with minor front fender cutting is a 265/75 @31.5".
Why do you make this look so easy? I love your page, and you need to move closer.. So um.. I can invite you over for bbq.... No mechanical puns intended for teaching short cuts..

Good job
Will it fit on a ZJ?
Just installed a new stabilizer and now my LJ is pulling a little to the left. What can I do to fix this?
Johnny Braun wheel alignment
I doubt that one end of the stock stablizer is 3/4" and the other is 18mm, Jeep peobably wouldnt use mix-n-match fastners, but if it worked who really cares! Nice vids matt!
yea, jeeps are wierd,
Does this put to much strain on the stock steering box?
+Sam Shipps no
Do you think this set up would work on a 95 zj?
Ya

Why did you drill into that? Do I have to on mine? Cuz I don't wanna...
alex dill You're going to have to make a hole for the bracket. How else do you plan on having two shocks where there was originally one?
Stop making great informative videos.
I have a off road zj and would love a dual stabilizers steering on this xj looks the same is it? I'd like to just get something like this and put it on I've looked around and nobody seems to have one for a zj specifically.
I did exactly the same and broke the crankcase when I pass a hard stop
How big of a difference is having 2 stabilizers vs. 1
2x as big a difference
Where do I get those away bar links?
These are rough country
BleepinJeep thanks. The reason I asked is because I ordered that dual steering stabilizer after watching your video and I noticed my sway bar link on the passenger side has a pretty gnarly bend in it.
Can you install streering stabilizers on a 2wd ?
Yes
nice.... but hey man why does some jeeps drive like sh it for example loose control over 35 MPh is it because of this
+Wt F no, its death wobble, check out my death wobble videos
+BleepinJeep is this for the death wobble? Because I watched your vid on the death wobble but nothing is...tierod and steeling bolt. Might this be a good thing to stop the wobble?
+ATR Footage Factory nothing is loose.Forgot the "loose"
+ATR Footage Factory Steering stabilizers are not meant to stop death wobble. if you have death wobble you should replace the warn out parts causing it and not try and mask it with a stabilizer.
Awesome!
Looking cool
What's the purpose in the duel steering stabilizer
I'd guess it's so they can face off and shoot one another to settle an argument :-)
Improves handling characteristics and reduces wheel vibration, which leads to suspension component fatigue and failure. Helps reduce bump steer problems caused by oversized tires and/or rough roads.
Two is "better" than one.
So is this one becoming the buggy? I'm expecting you'll be using a proper 1-ton kit once you get really serious with this?
man they give you a lot of free stuff.
Why am I reading on different Wrangler forums that dual stabilizers are just a band-aid for a much bigger problem in the steering components?
cause they are... if you have steering problems, this isnt going to solve it. it would be like if you broke a leg off a chair, and you replaced it with some books. That may work for a while but it doesnt fix the chair.
I laugh every time somebody watches one of these videos and proceeds to tell everyone how useless these stabilizers are. I own 3 Jeeps all 33's and up and steering stabilizers are needed or your driving death traps. Last note only JK owners will tell you you don't need a stabilizer because that is a cover up to other steering problems.. credit bound morons.
i own a jk as well as an xj and id never tell you that a stabilizer isnt needed. Onlyy time ive heard people say they are not needed are the xj owners
Lies... jk owner and I got a death wobble like mad till I replaced the dampner
@@RebelPhantom I run with 35s and cross over steering on my xj, no steering stabilizer and drive it every day. totally fine.
Two thumbs up
good !!!
after a yr it sat high enough to destroy my trans line after a winter in new england sux have had this jeep for 10 yrs and every 2 yrs im replacing this thing o well going to try skyjacker 9009 and 9119 the rancho 500 blew out before i installed this thing what a waste of money and time im waiting on all new lines to come in sux $150 plus the cost of the rough country $110 and at least 2 hrs of time
does this replace the control arms???
Did he take them off in the video.?
it's good !!!
can you tell me what a steering stabilizer does?
It dampens minor vibrations and shimmies from the road. What it does NOT do, is cure death wobble.
jklossner6251 ok thank you
That part you drilled a hole in has rusted away on my jeep.
Tmr customs makes a replacement for the entire spring perch.
Thanks I will look into that.
why do dual?
interestingly
J-UST
E-MPTY

you shouldnt need a steering stablizer
Explain why two is better than one.
Gary pastortechman Thomas You must lack common sense...

whacking your nut isn't much fun, either.
He did warn you in the video....
like
The ol smack and wack technic , yes I know it well
SURPRISED THATS NOT TAPERED END ON ADAPTER....IT IS A TAPERED HOLE...
looks like it will last 2 months
I wonder how well you could fit most shock boots onto those.... any suggestions?
I would imagine it may help them last longer...
Z Jobe shock boots actually trap dirt and that is why most shock companies have abandoned them. These are actually smaller than a standard shock so it probably wouldn't fit anyway.
BleepinJeep I would've thought that's what the boot was made to protect them from. Oh-well.... Good video, very informative, Thanks
