If we're looking at the fast money rappers make ja rule made a good decision for the short-term, not the long-term. Ludacris joining the franchise is a smart long-term decision only if the series continues to be popular and grow, which it happened to do but Fast & Furious was still pretty new and wasn't a huge franchise as it is today and also even Vin diesel didn't even want to come back to the franchise originally. It was Until the series started showing great promise and they paid him a lot of money and gave them The Chronicles of Riddick for him to return. So technically, both are right. Ja rule played it safe because he was a huge rapper at the time where he can charge anywhere between 50000 to a 100000 or more a show multiple times a night quickly amassing money. I will definitely say for Ludacris fast and furious opened more doors for him much later in life to amass a lot of money and opportunities over the long-term

Ja Rule is right hindsight is 20/20, 90 percent wouldve choosen the bigger moneymaker hardly anyone could predict the how big the film would be. Even Vin Diesel didn’t come back for 2 Fast 2 Furious once he was career took off, only came back to the series (fourth film) due to his other films flopping at the box office.
Toyko Drift (2006) the third film flopped, franchise was essentially life support. No was talking about Fast and Furious anymore outside decidated fanbase.
Paul Walker and Vin Disel characters then decided to come back together in fourth film which did quite well. But then decided with Fast Five bring back old characters and include the Rock shifting in a new direction. Which brought in whole new auidence and bigger box office numbers.
So it was perfect storm things aligning together.

Ludacris joining the franchise is a smart long-term decision only if the series continues to be popular and grow, which it happened to do but Fast & Furious was still pretty new and wasn't a huge franchise as it is today and also even Vin diesel didn't even want to come back to the franchise originally.
It was Until the series started showing great promise and they paid him a lot of money and gave them The Chronicles of Riddick for him to return. So technically, both are right. Ja rule played it safe because he was a huge rapper at the time where he can charge anywhere between 50000 to a 100000 or more a show multiple times a night quickly amassing money. I will definitely say for Ludacris fast and furious opened more doors for him much later in life to amass a lot of money and opportunities over the long-term
